Hi everyone!
We just returned from a 5-night stay at OKW. It was such a fantastic trip! I hope to post detailed trip reports later, but wanted to get out a quick report on our resort stay.
This was a trip with extended family. There were 13 of us in all, so I made ressies for a GV for my family, and a 1BDR for my BIL and his family. I requested first floor access and non-smoking rooms, and I also asked that the rooms be close together.
DH and I and our kids arrived at noon on 11/28 and were pleasantly surprised to find our room was ready!
They told me that the GV was on the 2nd floor.
I was concerned because my mom has arthritis and stairs are difficult. But this building has an elevator that was practically right outside our door.
Yeah!!! Problem solved! We check in and begin to get settled while we waited for the rest of the family to arrive.
We were in room 6322. The room was in excellent condition and had one of the new foam mattress sleeper-sofas and a DVD player. Its a handicap accessible room that had a seat in the shower (no tub), but that was fine with us.
When BILs family arrived, we learned they had been given room 6321. I think the only way to get us any closer would be to knock out the wall in between us! With all (OK, most) of my requests met, I was one happy camper!
I checked out their room as well, and it also appeared to be in excellent condition.
The pool refurb seems to be coming along nicely. I really got an idea of what the new slide will look like when it is done. There was always someone working on it, so I hav no doubt it will be done by the end of the year.
To us, the parks seemed much more crowded this time around. We usually had little or no wait for the attractions, but there just seemed to be so many more people out in the streets. We didnt get to as many things as we usually do. I dont know if thats because our own group was larger, or a result of the larger crowds. But it didnt cramp or style too much!
After checking out of OKW, we took the opportunity to explore SSR. The rooms were gorgeous, but after spending the week at OKW they seemed teeny. (Of course, the GV made my first apartment look teeny, but thats another story.) I was stunned by how large the resort area will be when completed, which our guide said would be in about 18 months. I asked about the rumors of additional DVC properties, and she said theyre only focusing on SSR now.
That's the quick report. I'll post more in my trip reports later.
