Just back from OKW - check those room charges!

Just returned from 7 nights at OKW. We were in a 1 bedroom, 4311. It met all my requests - non-smoking, first floor not handicapped, water view, Turtle Pond Road. Nice view of a pond, lots of ducks. Quiet area, you could hear busses a little in the living room (close to Buena Vista Road) but not in the bedroom. Bus stop was a little far, but we only used the bus once to MK.

One glitch on checkout day. My express checkout was not on the door yesterday morning. So I called the front desk and they said we were not setup for express checkout. So she charged it to my visa and said to pickup the printout at the front desk if I wanted it. So we left about 10:00 (maid knocked on the door at 8:30 asking what time we were leaving, there was no "do not disturb" sign). I stopped at the HH to get it and glanced at it in the car. I noticed that a charge at Mousegears for $12.87 was posted twice. It was posted on 5/14, which was the day and then a "repost" on 5/15. I was going to go back in, but we only had a short time at MGM before we had to go to the airport. Plus I wanted to check the other charges with my receipts. I called this morning and they said they would send it over to their financial dept at Boardwalk for correction. They said they could have corrected it there yesterday, but they are locked out now. I've always used express checkout and this was the first time this happened, both not getting the printout delivered and a double charge. When we stay at Boardwalk, I usually stop by the front desk to get a printout the night before so I have time to review it but at OKW I didn't bother since the front desk wasn't close. Next time I will.

Now back to reality.... :(
 
hi: i usually do what you do-check the room charges the night before. the only time i checked the charges more often was when i had 14 family members spread throughout 3 units with charging privileges on my amex for everyone. that trip i checked the charges every other day. i've never not had express check out; do you think we have to make sure of this when we check in now? maybe it was only a glitch in the system this time.
 
Usually I do get the printout on my door at OKW, occasionally the computers are down, though. Glitches can cause double postings at Disney, just like Credit Card transactions in the real world. I always try to check the printouts before I leave, or as soon as I receive it in the mail (when the system is down). I remember having 2 double posts in 10 years, and they were fixed right away without any problems. :)
 
I always thought it was automatic if you left a credit card. I'm not sure if a glitch happened because I had a combination cash/points reservation. Since it was a member discount they were linked together, all the charges were on one printout. When I was checking in, she was having problems figuring out my final rate for the cash nights (adding taxes) and charging my card for that immediately, maybe that's when she missed it. Good idea to verify.
 

There is a box to be checked off for express check out. When you are checking in and signing, you can see if the CM has already checked it.. I learned this a few years ago when I, too, did not receive my express check out and found out it had never been "requested" at check in time. I always mention it now.

Also, I have had incorrect charge on my bills but was able to bring it to their attention before leaving the resort. Good luck.
 
I was told last week by an OKW CM that express check out was not available with linked reservations, such as combo point / cash stays.
 
On longer trips I like to check the room account mid stay. The front desk will print one out when ever you request.
 
We left OKW last Saturday (the 10th), and there was no express check out bill on the door.

We were on our way to the airport for an early flight, so didn't have time to stop. I KNOW we requested express checkout when we checked in, however possibly it wasn't arranged properly?

In years of staying at Disney resorts, this was the first time ever that the bill wasn't there when we left. Wierd.

(Also should note that once we left at 4am and the bill was there. This time it was about 6am and the bill wasn't there.)

Has something in the procedure changed in the last little while?
 
I posted about this problem a couple months back when we stayed at OKW in January. Obviously they haven't gotten this problem fixed. I have to wonder how many people aren't checking and then are getting overcharged?

It is very common as well - in that while I went to the desk to point the problem out, I saw another room's charge slip by the computer because that person had been there before me with the same problem.
 
I have found at all WDW resorts, that sometimes the bill is wrong. I try to check my charges often. I use to every day, now every 2 or 3 days. I try to get the printout the night before we leave and check it then.

How early did you leave? This might be why you didn't get the printout on your door. Last August we left about 6am to start driving home and there was no print out on our door. We stopped by check in and the CM told us that they were being delivered and probably just hadn't gotten to our building yet. I was surprised that this was being done so late, I know at most other hotels, it is slipped under the door at some ungodly hour like 3-4am.

Just re-read your post. I know the CM told us what time the express checkout slips were supposed to be delivered by, but I don't remember now what she said.
 
How in the world did you get out of Mousegears for only $12.87? That would be useful information to me.;)
 
LOL - bracelet charms for my nieces, $3 each plus tax! It was a record for low spending! I actually made it through the week without buying any clothing items, that's a first. I did go overboard on pins once again - 11, mostly limited editions.
 
Our OKW room charge bill was fine - at our WL stay in March though there was a double post which took some time to correct but they investigated it in a cheerful manner

We must have had the same maid - she was at our door earlier around 7:45 am.....I had to speak to her on the other side of the door as I only had my DVC speedo ;) on

Every single charge I made was doubled and they did not catch it, but I did because the night before I check out, I go down and get a copy. That only happened once.
 
UPDATE - I just checked my cc online, and the amount of the double post was credited to my card last Tuesday.
 
Had several trips to OKW since 2/2002 (5) and the CM upon check in always asked me to initial here (pointing to expess check out) for express check out. Maybe the CM was rushed or not up to par that day. So far I've only had one double posting and it was corrected at the front desk - I usually check all charges the day before we leave.
