Just back from my first visit to dlrp with my wife and kids (4 &9) and thought I'd share a few of my humble opinions...a few of them are moans!

firstly, our hotel was huge! Newport Bay must be the biggest hotel on-site?Our room was near the pool which was ideal, but what a trek!Overall the hotel was lovely, the only downside was breakfast.I appreciate we went during a holiday and over a weekend, but how can a hotel of that size accept reservations in the knowledge that they cannot accomodate everyone for brekkie?
Sometimes the line went up the stairs and along the corridor...100's of people waiting in line.:sad2:

Secondly, the extra hours is a bit of a scam in my opinion.Only one of the 4 parks open, and only a handful of rides in that park operating was not what i expected, I had hoped to use those hours to do the 'big' rides like buzz lightyear, space mountain etc.

My kids did love the rides though, i thought a small world was great, along with thunder mountain.Lots of characters about too, but getting to mickey must be akin to getting to George W. Bush!!

I really connot believe how busy the park gets at the weekend, and how people are prepared to wait for over an hour with kids to get on a ride.i know the fast pass system helps, but you can only fastpass one ride at a time.Disney need to make money, i understand that, but there appears to be no limit to the number of people they allow in on any one day.The whole concept of the parks is outstanding, it looks fantastic, really amazing, and disney know how to put on a show like nowhere else I've been.

The food was average too, apart from Annettes and the steak house (which we ate at twice.

Overall we enjoyed ourselves, we wont rush back but we're happy we took our kids to see it.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Shame you felt that EMH was a waste. When we were there at the beginning of October both Buzz and Space Mountain were open on each of the 6 days we spent there. The Newport Bay is the largest onsite hotel and was the largest hotel in Europe when it was built in 1992. Breakfasts seem to be the same in all hotels and the main advice is to get the earliest one possible (which may not hold true in a hotel the sixe of the Newport Bay)

We found Mickey easy to find at his Meet and Greet in the Studios always being empty and usually Kacee was able to spend 5-10 minutes with him as there was no-one else around, also appears in Hotels at different times of the day.

Glad you enjoyed it again and I hope that you feel the holiday overall was worth it.

Hi Mr Sauzee,

I didn't opt for breakfast at all at the NBC, as its such a big hotel. I asked for the Good Morning Fantasyland breakfast in the park instead.

I agree with you about the trek within the hotel too to get to your room - we were also in the East Wing, on the same floor as the pool, but waaaaaaaaaaay past it to get to our rooms. That whole wing, I think, needs a bit of TLC.

I'm very surprised that Discoveryland, with Buzz Lightyears ride and SM2, wasn't open when you were there for EMH - both those rides have been open every time we've done EMH. Buzz sometimes was closed for technical issues, but always open again within about 15-20 minutes.

If you have young children, I think EMH is a brilliant perk, as we just wouldn't queue for the teacups, Dumbo and the carousel, and so wouldn't be able to ride them. But I do agree, if your party is more into the "big" rides, coasters etc, with the exception of SM2, you can't get access to them in EMH, and so EMH isn't quite as much of a perk.

But I'm glad you had some highs on your trip :goodvibes . I've never been to DLRP over a weekend (and the more I read about them, the less likely it is I ever will  ) so I can't comment on the difference in crowds then.

I love the idea of EMH, it lets me take DD on all the little rides in the morning without having to queue for ages once the park opens at 10am.

I agree with the NPB, it took about 10mins to find our room lol. Would of been easier to open the balacony door and walk to the reception from there lol.

i agree that emh is ideal for kids but i saw plenty of adults there too so i guess it depends on what you are in to. emh was the fave part of my day as my lil girl could go on all her rides with no queue. when we were there buzz and sm2 were open for emh. im glad you enjoyed your trip anyway.

We stayed at the Newport in July/August of this year, also on the East wing just past the pool and have to say we always enjoyed our walk to the lifts (or the stairs). We used the pool almost every day which probably sways my judgement in the walk to reception etc.,
We had our breakfast booked at 7:30 every morning, no queues or crowds considering the hotel was fully booked.
Would definately go back there again but finance wise if we do happen to go next summer we will probably opt for a cheaper hotel.
