Just back from Magic. Had a fantastic cruise!

Even with the cool and cloudy weather, we had a great cruise on the Magic.

The shows were fantastic. Don't miss them. Sit on the inside aisle to get close to the performers that come out into the audience.

The food was great. But, if you don't see something on the menu, ask for it. Our Head Waiter Eric from France delivered on every special request. Also, Palo is worth the $10 pp.

The gym has excellent equipment and was rarely busy. Spinning classes fill up quickly. Sign up for the (free) classes soon after embarking.

Need some peace and quiet, try deck 7 aft. Less windy, too.

Always carry a camera. You never know who you will run into. The handlers and photographers will always snap a picture of you with the character. At Shutters, stack your pictures together as the week goes on. Makes life easier by the end of the week.

There are DCL post cards in your cabin desk drawer and extras are available from guest services. Cheapest postage was in Grand Cayman (25 or 30 cents). It was 55 cents at Castaway Cay.

Disembarkation started promptly at 7:30. We loved the flexibility of leaving on our own schedule (other cruise lines should use this policy).

Really enjoyed the self serve soda, coffee and ice cream. Bring a big cup or travel mug.

We love Eric. Many years ago he was our assistant server.....then we came back and just by chance he was out server...then again our head server. He is mostly on the Wonder. We saw him on the Magic a few weeks ago and I was so surprised!! He was not our Head Server ;-(. He told me they brought him over from the Wonder for a month, because there were some issues on the Magic they wanted him to help with????? He is also in security for Disney.
He is awesome!!

The tux ratio was low, maybe 10-20%. There is really only one formal night (first sea day).

We were really happy with the cabin. The bar fridge was fine for water, soda, beer, etc. Keep in mind that the shelves are movable, if one needs the space. You can adjust the height of the coffee table. The TV slides out and pivots. We rarely heard noise from the hallway and never heard our neighbours. We were way forward on Deck 6 and were not bothered by the motion and the Magic really moves (at times 20 knots). Deck 6 proved to be a very central location - 3 decks up to the pool and 3 decks down to the atrium, restaurants, Beat Street, etc.

I thought the "port hole seats" on Deck 3 were really cool and made for some neat pictures.

The 8:30 dining worked well for us. We would catch the 6:15 show and afterwards had over an hour to get ready for dinner, stroll the shops & Shutters. After dinner, we headed straight to Bar D for the adult show. All the acts were excellent.

We are considering taking the disney cruise in Nov of 2007. My husband and I just came back from a cruise ( Royal Caribean ) of the eastern caribean. We have two children who will be 8 and 10 come 2007.......we're trying to figure out if the Disney cruise would be our best choice. Aside from the characters walking around is there anyone who has cruised on the Disney ship as well as another cruise line....and how would you compare the two?

I'm sort of having the same dilemma as you are... except I wanna know what RCCL is like. I'm 20 and I'm trying to get a bunch of my friends to go on the DCL again because I had such a good time with the cruise staff and doing the adult things.
I'm just afraid that the crew won't be as friendly as on the disney cruise.. I know there will be more adult things on a RCCL.. but I love the disney atmosphere.
So, what ship did you go on? And how was the service?

I haven't gone on Disney yet (2 more weeks!!!!!) so can't really compare the two. But I have gone on RCCL twice and both times thought it was fabulous I have also been on Princess several times and Carnival twice and while I also loved Princess, didn't love Carnival, I though RCCL was the best. The food was very good, not gourmet, but good and lots of choices. The service was so good, the people who work for RCCL I have found to be the nicest and sincerest I have run across on a cruise.

I can let you know how the two compare in 3 weeks and 1 day.

I have nothing but good things to say about RCCL. We were on the Voyager last year and the Navigator this year. Aside from the voyager having some more rooms we could'nt thell the difference. We loved both ships, the staff is wonderful, and the food was excellent.

Our stops on the voyager included RCCL private island....we really enjoyed it there....(it is entirely fenced in ) they do have a market set up there with the local people selling stuff.

We just got back last week from the Navigator. Our stops included San Juan (it was okay ) St.Thomas (beautiful),St.Martin(loved it!) and Nassau ( dont really need to go back there).

I don't think you will be dissapointed if you decided to go on RCCL.

I havent done RCCL but a friend got back on Monday and last night at dinner said the food was not great and the service was terrible, she said that she rates the 3 lines she has done in this order HAL, CARNIVAL, RCCL

I have done Princess, DCL and Carnival, the shows on carnival were great, this will be our 4th DCL so I have seen the shows and they were good, the service was much better on DCL, I love Princess but have never taken the kids, for me Princess and DCL rate about the same and Carnival.
I wanted to try RCCL, my DSis and her family went last summer and weren't impressed and haven't gotten hooked on cruising so I will stick to my favorite 2.

I thought the shows on RCCL were fine. They were not as good as Princess' or Carnival's. I think the Carnival shows are the best I have seen (not having seen Disney yet), but I still enjoyed the RCCL shows. Their comedians were really good, but their production shows while good, were a little amateurish compared to Carnival.
