Hi we got back this afternoon from Kings Island in Ohio. We stayed at a great hotel about 15 minutes away. The improvements are great, but it's not Disney. I think we are going to start a new tradition of doing KI on the off-year of WDW.

We also went for a small trip to Kings Island on 6/13. It was a Tuesday(low crowds) and beautiful weather. Our 5 yr old DS enjoyed the Nick Universe area very much. Nice and colorful. They could improve on food selection. But the park is very clean also. We stayed at a nice Hampton Inn in Blue Ash.

Sounds like you enjoyed your trip. :) It's been 17 years since my most recent ride on The Beast. Miss the fella & hope he's still hangin' in there.

I would love to hear any details about the park, hotel, anything else that you did in the area, etc. We will be in the area in August and will spend a couple days at KI. My kids are 6-15yo (I don't think my college DD is coming), so we like pretty much all rides except the real kiddy rides. My 6yo is 48" so he should be able to ride a lot, at least he can at Kings Dominion.

The food is very overpriced and so-so quality-wise at Kings Dominion--is it the same at KI? What hotel did you stay at?

Thanks!

Sounds like a nice little trip.... glad you enjoyed yourself.

We stayed at the Arcadia Residential Suites about 15 minutes away from KI. Our room had a king-size bed w/separate living area. The love seat folded out into a bed. The kitchen was full-sized and fully furnished w/ dishes. The indoor pool is open from 9-9 on week-days. We paid $560 for 3 nights and 5-2 day adult tickets. The room was very clean and we didn't hear our neighbors. The gate into the parking lot does not open until 9 and you must pass through a metal detector and security checks your bags. Parking is $10 or $15 for premiere. We did regular parking and got in the first row past premiere parking. We stayed in the water park from 11-3:30 both days. Our cheapest meal was at Skyline Chili and the most expensive was the Montgomery Inn. We bought 2 refillable Sponge Bob Cups ($6.99 & $1.99). The School of Rock show is not to be missed, although it doesn't play on Tuesdays. The park was clean staff was helpful, food options limited and spread out. There were some unruly teenagers with inoppropriate behavior and language but not enough to bother us, just something I've never heard or saw at WDW. I'm glad we left all the babies and toddlers at home, because there wasn't much for them to do (as compared to WDW).
