Just back from kidani!!!

There is no breakfast of any kind at Sanaa. I had heard about that also, but I believe it was done as a "trial run", and didn't last. I never, ever want to "cook" on a vacation, but giving the kids a bagel while we were getting showered and ready in the morning right in the room, saved us both time and money! This way, we left the room and headed right to the parks. I would never dream of making bacon and eggs or anything, but a bagel or a Pop-tart was easy enough, and held everyone over till later.

Thanks for the great review! I'm a Jambo House lover also, but am looking forward to our Kidani stay. I can see my "children" (31, 20, and 18) playing in the kiddie section---along with DH Did you take advantage of any of the storytelling? How were the animal viewing sites?

Unfortunately, we never did stop in for the storytelling. The animal viewing areas are nice. The main one off of the lobby has a nice fire pit with rocking chairs. There are floor to ceiling windows down the hallways. Three other open balconies I can think of for viewing are near the lobby, off of the library and also off of the Community Game room. There is one area near the pool, that is kind of hidden. It is beyond the pool bar to the right. The Okapi is there! (my favorite). They keep a CM there to discuss the animals and their homeland. I had such a wonderful conversation with Lindsay there. She told me of her time with Disney - she only had one more month before leaving. She said it had been a wonderful experience for her. Somehow, (can't remember exactly) we ended up on the subject of September 11th. She said she was home (Africa) and was watching television and saw the second plane hit. I had also seen this exact moment. It was surreal to imagine that this young girl, a world away, shared the same moment I had. We actually cried together, right there - the only thing that stopped us was when she said "I'll never forget that Wednesday morning". When I corrected her, that it was Tuesday morning, our tears turned to laughter when we realized the time difference.

Sorry I went off topic, I had almost forgotten that moment.

Yep, that's us too. A bowl of cereal and maybe some toast. Everyone is taking turns eating and getting ready and we all end up being ready to leave the room at the same time. Just as for you, this saves us time and a lot of money.

Thank you so much for this review of Kidani! I was getting a little nervous for our upcoming trip since we are used to staying in DVC resorts that are closer to the main building. Based on your review, Kidani sounds wonderful! I am hoping we don't get a room that is super far from the lobby, but otherwise I am really excited!

Wow, thank you! I didn't see that choice. I forget what the other options for a-la-cart housekeeping, but they didn't seem worth it. I will keep the towel pack in mind for next time. That was really the only part of housekeeping that we needed.

We usually get fresh towels from the pool, and bring a couple extra washcloths, that solves the problem for us.

I was told that there is no charge to use the washers and dryers at Kidani. Is that correct?

No charge for the washers or dryers. I would never use the pool towels that just isn't right in my book. We keep extra towels in our OL for that purpose and we rarely need them--but it is just DH and I.

We love Kidani! We love the resort. We would not stay anywhere else! We love the pool and slide and water play area. We have no kids and just love to sit in the hot tub and you can hear animals late at night. There is a small store that has t shirts, gifts and movies and small section of food items. There is a community hall and game room and wagers and dryers for those in studios.

We love both Kidani and Jambo! After a few debates we decided to look at them as one BIG resort Soooo much to do at both. Love the wine and cheese tasting at Jiko on wednesdays!!!!

Yes you can. I have recently discovered, here on the Boards, of course, Purex luandry sheets. You can get them at Walmart. They look like dryer sheets, but they are actually laundry and fabric softener in one! You put it in the wash, then transfer it to the dryer. It works great, and they are small enough to pack. The best part is no searching for quarters.

I love AKL and have been going there since its opening. But I must admit that I don't like Zebra Domes. I'll have several Nahtazus while I'm there.
