Just back from Kidani--some random thoughts...

I have no idea how you could possibly spend an hour on the bus unless the bus broke down. The furthest on-property travel distance from AKL is the magic kingdom, and that's 16 minutes on the road. Are the typhoon lagoon buses shared in some weird way?

Agree completely on the smoking area; i suggest you email guest satisfaction about this, as I'd really like to see this corrected.

Pirate4Ever: don't worry about the buses! AKL has among the best bus service on WDW property since almost all of the routes are direct and not shared with any other resorts. If you survived all-star bus service, you will love AKL bus service.

If the bus trip to Typhoon wasn't an hour==it was mighty close to it. By the time you roll into Downtown Disney, head over to PI and then to TL it was at LEAST 45 minutes.

Seems like lots of us agree on the smoking area...let's all voice our opinions to management, please.

Also concur with you in reassurance for Pirate4Ever--buses were really quite reliable and loved not having to share with tons of other resorts...for example, the Swan-Dolphin-YBC-Boardwalk drill is a bit annoying by comparison...

And we did not experience any bee issues at the pool or our balcony on theh 5th floor...but at the water parks...bees were loving the refillable soda stations!! Watch out for those swarms! Otherwise, GREAT GREAT TRIP...

16 minutes depending on which direction the driver takes!!! We were on the bus for over a half hour from MK to Kidani..it was nuts!

We stayed at Kidani last August for 6 nights and loved it. At that time the housekeeping was excellent. We really didn't feel that we had any issues with the bus service. We went to Typhoon Lagoon and it wasn't anywhere near an hour. I think that in order to get a shorter ride you should go before 10:00 a.m. Before that the buses don't go to Downtown Disney (at least they didn't last year). Besides we like getting to TL right at 9:00 before it gets crowded. You can ride the slides several times before there is a long line.

Palaemon, it seemed like the smoking areas are in more prominent areas. At the Beach Club it is right on the main sidewalk. There is another one adjacent to or on the sidewalk by Stormalong Bay. The smoke was very strong while sitting in that section of the pool. Plus CM's were very tolerant of smokers just about anywhere on property. My husband and daughter are very sensitive to the point of allegic to the smoke so that is way we noticed it.

We just got back a few weeks ago from Kidani and the only time we had an issue with the bees was at the refillable mug station at the pool areas. They tried putting some of those bee traps around, but that didnt seem to work.

I know where the linens are--they're all over at BLT, where they gave us enough towels and linens for about 16 people. :rotfl:

It must have been some kind of mental lapse--four times too many towels but they forgot toilet paper.

I just returned from a stay at Jambo house. There definitely is a bee problem, not only around the pool but on the balconies too. We were credited $75 for not being able to use our balcony due to the bees. We were on the 5 th floor.[/QUOTE

You really could not use the balcony? That is the only reason we are staying at AKV...the savannah balony! We leave on Tuesday!! Seriously concerned and asking for your advice! Would you try to switch resorts or do you think they are dealing with the problem and it will be resolved?

What are they doing about the problem??

We love Kidani and are staying there again this fall :

Remote - We love the remote feel of the resort. We rent a car as we often visit Sea World / Golf and do other things off-site. I think that is why the remoteness does not bother us - we are not waiting/riding on the buses.

Layout - My wife and I are runners (well she is a runner, I am a jogger), so we are prepared for the long days walking around the parks, and don't mind a little extra trek when we get back to the room. The hallways are long, but we are ok with that.

The resort is great, we also love the staff, the are fantastic!!!

We love KV we own there and will be home in 57 day! I am a nurse and on the go constantly! I love to sit back and let the bus take me to the park. If I have to wait no problem I am on vacation. We did TL last Oct and prefer BB very quick. We love the remoteness of KV and the pool area for both resorts. The hot tub at JH is awesome.
