I LOVE MY DVC!

We just returned from HHI today! We played the Bumping Game with Delta ( I posted on the Transportation boards for anyone interested in that aspect of our trip).;)

This was our 2nd trip to HHI. It was a fabulous vacation. DH Mom and Brother really enjoyed their vacation.

I requested a 2 bedroom, dedicated, non-smoking, with pool view. We received all requestes but pool view (hey it was worth a try). Anyway, the funny thing is is that we had the same room from our last trip. We totally felt at home. It was great!

We did 2 campfires which were very fun! DD went to the kids night out movie night, made a Family Banner, listened to Good Nights with milk and cookies. She LOVES HHI princess:

The weather was cool for the first half of our stay (pants and lightweight jackets). The last couple of days were nice enough for the pool and playing on the beach. I purchased a kite from our local dollar store knowing it would either fall apart or we would leave it behind. That was the best kite I have ever bought! Went right up and it came with 120 feet of string, so not too bad!:smooth:

We cooked most of the time. We ate out at New York Pizza (very good but VERY SLOW), Salty Dog (okay, not what I expected), Captain's Seafood near the resort (Overpriced for the atmosphere but food was okay). I hate to say that Crabby Nicks or Moby Nicks near the resort is now Stacks Pancakes. That was our favorite place to eat while we were there in July, oh well.

Miniature golfed, shopped way too much! Very relaxing trip! LOVE HHI!

Called maintanence on check-out day for little things like light bulbs, etc. otherwise room was great! Staff always top notch!

We would probably rethink going in March again because the weather was iffy. The Marsh and surrounding grass lands were not very Green and lush compared to the summertime. I think May or June would be perfect!

Sorry, we had to leave and can't wait to go back. However, we have 2 WDW trips planned before we even think about HHI again! I also want to try Vero. When is the best time to try Vero?

I would be happy to answer any questions!::yes::

What are the campfires like? Do you have to pay for them?

Also, I would love to know what activities they have for kids and moms while dh is golfing?

I can't believe the pool was even OPEN in March!! WOW!

Sounds like a great trip.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing! Glad you had a good time!!

Allison an associate

Thanks for the report....

My husband and his golfing buddies leave HHI today and we have a family trip planned there for the second week in June.... I cant wait!

What room # did you get? I just love HHI. Did you see (Not sure of her name) Janie(?) in the Mercantile? She's so nice-but then, all the CM's there are. Where did you eat while you were there? Did you see any Dolphins?

Campfires are free! They have campfires on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

There are activities like Arts & Crafts, Meet the Naturalist, etc. When you check in they will give you a weekly Recreational Activities list that is broken up by the day.

I listed the few restaurants that we visited. Nowhere that I was very impressed with. We did buy our Shrimp from a local stand. It was good and the prices were far better than the supermarket. Probably saved $2 per pound.::yes::

We were in room 2412 (again). Very near the pool on the 1st floor. Great location! We did not see any Dolphins, but weren't looking for any either.

We only visited the mercantile twice (looking for DVC pins). The mercantile had the same merchandise it had while we were there in July, so not too exciting!

Be sure to check the activity schedule you get when you check in. They days and number of times an activity (including the campfire) is offered can vary from week to week. ;)

Thank you for sharing your Hilton Head trip report! Thank you, too, for calling maintenance & letting them know what items needed attention. Members should do this more often & then hopefully we wouldn't hear folks complain when they return.

Thanks for your report! We were there the same time you were. I bet we bumped into each other and never even knew it! During one of the the campfires I ended up being one of the "suckers on a stick" at the candy store. Afterwards I found out that the Dad on the other end of the stick had been the general manager for the resort, but was heading to Orlando to head up new transportation from the airport to WDW.

When you faced the campfire were you to the right or the left? Ron or Ralph? My DH name is Ron that's why I remembered the name.

We were sitting behind some of the benches on the wooden stumps. Myself, DH, DD, MIL and BIL. My DH did a mean "TINK" he was the only father that stood up the whole time. Too much trouble sitting up and down:rolleyes:

We stayed Friday night and the campfire had less than half of the people that were there on Wednesday night. My DD got to be the bell ringer and the first to make her smore. She was so excited!:Pinkbounc

The weather could have been warmer, but it did not stop those kids from swimming in the pool.:hyper:

I hope you had as nice of a vacation as we did!::yes::

Glad you liked it. HH is our 'home'.

Go to Vero. You'll love it. We only went once, in October and had a fabulous time. Weather is great at that time, granted there aren't any hurricanes brewing .

I'd ike to go back to Vero in the spring (to see the Dodgers play!)

HHI campfire is such a hit with our kids. And so is the walk with the Naturalist to find seashells. I learned more about shore life that morning than in all my years at the shore.

Our favorite pizza is still the one next to Fudruckers, just north of the resort. ( Senior moment - the name escapes me!) Owner is a Penn State alum and has loads of PA sports team memorabilia hanging up. We like to do take out and eat on the beach.

Enjoy!

The pool is open all year round and is heated. Both pools are open...sometimes we go in December or January and we are the only people swimming at the Beach house pool, but it is usually nice and warm...the pool water...not the air!

rsschneck,

I was the sucker named Ron, I cant believe you remembered the candy store Dad's names. I posted a trip report on that board and a post here entitled "if vwl and vbr had a baby..." if you want to check them out.
