We had a great stay, our first at DVC, my 8th on HH, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone (families, couples, friends).

A few pointers specific to this resort (feel free to PM me with any questions):

1. It's worth the cash to stay Friday and Saturday (we stayed the rest on points). We practically had the resort to ourselves (Fri-Sun morning).

2. Arrive early and stay late (this we didn't do, and sorry we couldn't, but it really maximizes your time, beach and otherwise).

3. Best time for cookies is 3pm.

4. Go to one of the local restaurants or shops and get all the "Things to Do" brochures. There is lots of other stuff to do off Disney, and with competitive rates and coupons. We did the Disney dolphin cruise and although it costs more, the boats are smaller. I think you can book these direct too.

5. Don't be disappointed if you are bumped. We couldn't do the dolphin cruise Wed. night because when we showed up, someone had messed up and cancelled the second boat. We were comp'd for our choice of re-booking (all three of us).

6. Bring lunch to the beach, or schedule beach time around lunch Mon-Thurs. Fri-Sun are the days to buy lunch there. They are really quiet. Mon-Thurs expect to wait 20-30 mins for food.

7. Do the Thursday night Shrimp Boil. It was great. B'Lou gets the kids involved in his music.

8. There are more activities for the 3-8 and some for the teens. My 'tween at 10 wasn't interested in the bird houses or story telling and too young for the teem activities. He had fun meeting other kids at the beach, pool and shuffleboard. They did have one "kids night out" but it was the Shrimp Boil night with B'Lou.

What is the Shrimp Boil? Do you have to reserve this in advance? We will be arriving Sunday and its our visit ever. I have a 3 y.o and a 16 y.o plus hubby and I so we are very excited but not really sure what there is to do?

The Shrimp Boil is on Thursday nite. It is 24.95 for adults and 8.95 for children. You can reserve it when you get there. It is traditional low-country fare, shrimp, sausage, excellent pork tenderloin, cornbread, corn on the cob, potatoes, all cooked outside and served buffet style for adults, chicken fingers and mac and cheese (plus the above if they want) for kids. Iced tea and leomoade included plus cheesecake for dessert. Beer is available to purchas up at the Mercantile or (I wish we knew this) you can bring your own wine.

They have several picnic tables and you eat on paper plates with paper towels as napkinds and a bucket on each table for shrimp peels. B'Lou lets the kids come up and use tamborines and sticks and musical instruments to accompany his fiddle playing.

Spay with "Off" before you go!

Hi Lat,

Well arrive on Sunday. We leave Cleveland on Saturday and we are just taking our time and sight seeing and spending the night somewhere when we have had enough driving and then taking off and getting there on Sunday.

Thanks for the info wildcatwmn! I'm allergic to shell fish but hubby is going to have a feast!

We are arriving this Thursday, and staying for 9 nights, so we'll probably have to do the Boil the following week. Thanks for the other tips!
