I just had a wonderful 7 nights at Ft. Wilderness in Loop 1500!! The CMs at Ft. Wilderness were wonderful and the property looked really nice!! Although there was definite evidence that the hurricane had been through, the Fort came through in shining glory!!!!

Just a couple of notes. They are rebuilding the Outpost Bus Stop and the temporary stop is a little bit down from the golf cart parking area. When they finish the new bus stop, I hope they add plugs for the carts to the golf cart area. I did find a few plugs for carts near the actual Outpost where they park the Ft. Wilderness vans.

There is also a bus stop in the cabins area that appears to have been clobbered by the hurricane. They have it walled off and a few benches set up across the street.

I also hope the next project at Ft. Wilderness is redoing the sidewalks. I use an ECV around Ft. Wilderness and many of the sidewalk "cracks" have pretty extensive bumps, which makes for a pretty rough ride on the ECV, and I imagine for bicycle folks too. I also wish they would just run the sidewalks on both sides of all the main roads. All this crossing back and forth on the main road just to get from Outpost to Settlement down the central road can be quite confusing!!!!

Trails End is delicious as always. The boats and buses were running frequently and well. The new system appears to be the best solution they have come up with!!!

The comfort station was always clean and had plenty of hot water. The washers and dryers were working well. Six quarters always got an average load plenty dry. I like the fact that Ft. Wilderness has the style dryers where you control the time, one quarter at a time. Some of the other resorts have gone to 8 quarters or nothing on the dryers. Yikes!! I brought my own detergent, dryer sheets and change, so can't report on the soap dispensers or change machines.

Oh ladies, just an FYI. The comfort station restrooms do NOT have a femine supply dispenser in them (at least 1500). I tend not to pack those things as I found it is just easier to purchase them as I need them in the restrooms around WDW.

Oh by the way, if you go to bed before 9:30 and are in a camper or tent, be prepared to be awakened by the Holiday ending to Illuminations. Although I never made it to bed that early, I was in the campsite one evening while it was going off and it rattled my tent walls!!

Seeing it in person, it just vibrates throughout your body, it is so awesome.

I'm not sure why it was so hard to get campsite reservations for early December. Except for the weekend, the campground had plenty of empty sites.

The campsite decorations are back again in all their glory. Take some time to drive around the sites and even some of the cabins. The guests have done a really great job of making the resort look festive!

Also through Sunday, site 2025 has a great monorail and train display with some neat Christmas lights!

The only thing that I was really disappointed in was that Ft. Wilderness has no way to get any type of breakfast before Trails End opens. Having coffee/hot chocolate, juice, and some fruit and pastries starting about 6am would be wonderful for early risers who don't make those things at their site!

Well that's about it. If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

We're not campers I just came on the board to see what the movies would be during our upcoming stay, but I enjoyed reading your trip report. I agree that the Trails End food is very good and we've had some great servers there as well.

I'm amazed at your statement regarding Illuminations, wow, it's going to be something to see, I can't wait!!

Thanks for your info!

We heard those boomers going off through the walls of our motorhome while in the 800 loop this past weekend. Seemed even louder than when we were in the park last year.

Was really neat getting on the new Gillig bus at AK with the destination sign reading RIVER COUNTRY. Thought we were guests at ToT for a moment.

We got home from Ft. W. on Dec. 19th. We were inthe 1400 loop. Our seven days were very chilly but great. We bundled up and went to the Campfire Singalong and had alot of fun. We saw The Muppets Christmas Carol and the grandkids loved it.

This was the first time we went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Another chilly night but with all the dancing going on, no one complained about being cold.

Like already stated, the Christmas lights at the campsites were very nice. At the 100 loop, every site was decorated. I think those are mostly "snowbird sites".

We know from past December trips that you should pack for cold weather as well as warm. Take extra blankets and it doesn't hurt to take a blanket to the movie.
