We just got back from a week of free dining at the world, and I thought I'd share our experiences.

Here's a list of table service's that we at at:

Plaza- We ate here our first park day, and loved it. It was very relaxed, everyone liked there food and LOVED the desserts. My son had the cookies with milk, and loved dipping his cookies in milk. Every place we went after that he was asking if they had that, sadly we didn't find any other place that did. The CM's were nice and helpful. I would definetely plan on eating here again.

Sci-Fi- This was okay, but I found that I really don't like eating in the dark. I guess I just really prefer to see what I'm eating and doing. My daughter's high chair had some time of greasy food left in it (maybe mayo?, not sure) but it was gross, and I didn't realize until it was on her. My son really didn't like any of the kids choices. He ended up getting mac and cheese, but didn't touch it. I had a burger and it was okay, but nothing great. We all had shakes and again they were okay, but honestly I get better ones at Red Robin. None of us really enjoyed the dessert either. The waiter we had though was great. He was very nice and helpful- I'm not sure that kids are supposed to be allowed to have a milkshake as there drink on the DP, but he said it was fine. I don't think we'd eat here again though.

Chef Mickey's- We ate here last time for breakfast, and this time for dinner. I prefer the food at breakfast, but darn I just don't know that it's worth getting up earlier to do:rotfl: The food was okay, I thought the salad bar was lacking a lot, but we all found food that we liked, and we all liked the selection for the desserts. We like eating with the characters, because it's a great time for interaction/pic's/ and autograph's without the lines, however I do feel it's a little stressful for the parent's. Every time we had a meal with character's I really couldn't eat until all the character's came by once, we got pic's and autograph's. After that happened I felt that I could sit back and relax, and whoever came after was purely for interaction, and it was much calmer. The character's seemed a little rushed this time to us at all our character meals, but we always saw each at least once. The waiter was also nice here. I'm sure Chef Mickey's will always be on our list for our trips.

Garden Grill- We chose Garden Grill for the character's. I didn't go into it with much expectation as far as the food went, because I'm just not into that kind of set up (family style.) It was better than what I expected, and our waiter was very nice and friendly. He basically insisted that we get a drink for my DD (17 months, so she isn't supposed to get anything.) I kept telling him I had plenty of cups/bottles for her, but he ended up just bringing some apple juice for her and said this way we didn't have to waste ours. He also brought her her own cupcake at the end to decorate and eat which she loved. She of course made a mess, but loved it. My son got the chicken nuggets and the cupcake for dessert and liked it. The characters again seemed rushed, but we got to see each a few times, just quickly. The food was okay, like I said better than what I expected, but I'm not sure we'll choose to eat here again. I'll leave that one up to my son.

Coral Reef- We had a later dinner here and had arranged a personalized menu and diver for my mom. That worked out perfectly- thanks Debi. It was awesome, and of course my mom cried, but it was great. Our waitress was nice enough as well, but that's about all I can say for the Coral Reef. It was nice to be able to eat in front of the aquarium, but the food was just so-so. We're not seafood ppl, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I got the steak and it was okay- but I'd never pay the $32 it goes for on the menu. That's about the only thing I liked. I can't remember what my son had, but I don't think he ate much of it. I also didn't care for the dessert choices. We would never eat here if we weren't on the DP, and since we've eaten here once, I doubt we'll ever eat here again no matter what plan we're on. It wasn't horrible, just not our cup of tea.

CRT- We had breakfast on our last day at CRT. I was looking foward so much to having the park to ourselves, and getting some great pic's, but it was raining pretty heavily, so that went out the window:sad2: We got to our ADR a little early, but were able to basically go right in and wait in line for Cinderella. We took our pic, and headed upstairs and our food came out really quickly. The food was okay, really like the muffin basket, and the french toast for both kids and adults was pretty good. Here again the waiter brought my DD a plate and drink for no charge. I thought that was really nice. My son loved getting his sword and DD got a wand, and they both got the wishing stars. The princesses came around and it was nice, but again I'm not sure if it's worth 2 table credits. I'll say it's definetly something that you should try at least once. Next time we go I definetely want to have an early ADR in MK to try to get pic's, but I think we'll choose CP next time. Only 1 table service and I think we'd like the food more. If DD ever wants to go to CRT when she's old enough to know, we'll definelty do it again for her.

As far as counter service goes, our favorite was Cosmic Rays. We also got a table down in front by the piano monster/guy, and the kids loved dancing/hoola hooping (-there was a lot of hoola hooping this time around- I don't remember them being out last time.) We also really enjoyed the food, the variety and I loved the chocolate cake:upsidedow We ended up eating here 3 times:scared1: but hey we like what we like. We also ate at Peco's Bill's, it was fine, but I didn't care for the Taco Salad. We also ate at the Pizzafari place- I think that's what it's called, at AK. The pizza was really good, but it's very odd to me that they don't offer pizza as a kids meal?? I got my son spaghetti and I got pizza and we shared it. I think we did the rest of our CS meals at the food court at the resort, which was fine. We did this because it was more convenient when we took breaks in the afternoon. I would have liked to try some other CS places around the parks- especially Yak and Yeti, but I have picky eaters, and didn't feel like standing in 2 lines in 2 different places. Oh well maybe next time;)

Great review. We are heading down with three kids in 30 days. One is only 21mo, so it is nice to hear some places gave the drinks to the little ones at no charge. :yay: I assumed we would be buying him drinks at each meal.

We are going to Chek Mickey for dinner too. It is our first time and I am very excited about it. I am glad to hear your mostly positive review. It is our only character dinner on this trip.

If we were only going to do one character meal, it would definetely be Chef Mickey's. I think you get more of the "main characters" and my kids really like it there. I know a lot of ppl said they were having issues with the construction going on, but we never heard or really saw anything. They have a big Mickey board type thing on part of the window facing the construction so you don't see it, and we never heard any noise, although we did have a later ADR, I think it was 6:50. I'm sure your kids we really like it.

i have advance reservations for a princess breakfast, but are advance reservations necessary otherwise? there will be 3 of us oct 2 - 7, 2008. my husband despises making any plans in advance.

Are you having the princess breakfast at CRT? I'd highly recomment ADR's. I'm not sure how busy Oct. is,- do they still have free dining then? If they do, then they'll be packed. When we went last week, it was very crowded in every restaurant- I was so glad we had ADR's. Our morning breakfast at CRT had the biggest crowds- especially as we were leaving. If you are going to try it, I'd definelty get there as early as possible, although now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think you can get in to MK before opening without an early ADR. I'd really try to convince your husband that it really is much better even if it's just for this one breakfast. -How would you all feel about just you and the other person going without your husband, and making the ADR? I don't think I'd chance it, good luck!
