Nothing like leaving near record temps in Florida to come home to SNOW.... ::::: sigh ::::::
Not sure where to start... Oh I know... The trip down from WDW should have taken less than 2 hours, but do to 'user error' we arrived in 3 1/2 hours.... (user error was my DH, who sucks as a map reader/instruction follower) But now that I know the lay of the land, it will be a peice of cake getting to Vero next time.
Check in went smoothly.
Our two bedroom lockoff was made up of units 1236 and 1237. Top floor facing south. I suppose the main view would be considered parking lot...
but a simple turn of the head provided a lovely view of a beach house and the ocean... quite nice.
But I must admit it was very noisy. In fact we found Vero to be the noisest resort we have stayed at.... between the landscapers who started at 8 am everyday... with the leaf blowers, hedge clippers and other such things..... then being off the main parking lot, all the car doors shutting, alarms being set, loud... and I mean LOUD car engines at all hours of the day and night..... peaceful is the last word I would use... but Such is life... no biggy... just something we noticed. Oh and the surf... that was one constant noise we loved.... although at night it scared the girls on our nightly walk....
The underground parking was a bit of a challenge for me in our Dodge Grand Caravan, but I didnt hit a single post, wall or vehicle! WOO HOO!
We were a bit disapointed that there were not more programs for our kids to participate in... most things were geared for 6-10.... and our girls are 4 and 3. Some days there was only one or two things that they could do... chalk art, craft, water balloon toss, fish find. But we did enjoy what we could do!
We couldnt do the UnBirthday party either... since the cut off was 4, and they wouldnt budge to allow my 3 yo to come too, and told me that there was a Unbirthday party for younger kids on the schedule, but there wasnt one that week (or the week before) so we were SOL. I tried my best to sway them to no avail. My 3yo is potty trained, goes to preschool, follows directions, and can keep up with older kids.. I mean that is her life... lol, but they still said no. Oh well. I tried without getting ugly, ya know....
Good thing I didnt tell the kids about it... but the bad thing was all the staff kepted asking the girls if they were going to the big UnBirthday party... Arent you going to the big Party??? At every craft thing/group event, every single staff member talked the big Unbirthday party bash up... SUCKED. Big time... but such is life...
Beach was great, pool was great, mini golf was great, Seafood buffet was great, in room dining was great, weather was great!
Both DH and I thought there was less Magic here than at the other DVC resorts (HHI included) and a lot of liitle things like having to walk by either smelly garbage(via the stair route) or humming airconditioners (on both sides of the stroller freindly walkway) to exit our building wasnt very nice.... but over all we liked Vero.. we will go back, when the kids are older....
This was the last of the standing DVC resorts we hadnt tried... Cant wait to check out SSR!
