and all I can say is WOW!

We spent the weekend at OKW in a studio and I was really impressed with the size of the room and the amenities (although we had to go and purchase a corkscrew. becuase we only had carry on luggage--we left it in the room so anyone using the room after this weekend has an added bonus!). We were in building 14 so we were a short skip across the street from the main buildings and pool (which we used frequently in this weekend's HEAT!). I was impressed at how quiet and serene the place was although we could occassionally hear our neighbors through the wall it wasnt loud enough to be annoying or disruptive. We are really looking forward to taking the entire family back next year!! The only thing I missed was the daily maid service (DH and I tend to get a little messy with towels and never make the bed on vacation!) but we made due...

overall we are VERY pleased with our purchase (we bought a BWV resale sight unseen) and will definintely get our money's worth!!!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. If you liked the studio, you will LOVE the 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units!!!

As to daily maid service.
We actually prefer not to have people tramping through our room every day. I feel much more secure knowing it is truely a "home away from home" rather than worry about someone being in my territoy when I am not there.

if you saw lots of children here.. and did you eat at the restraunts? were there plenty of towels at the pools.. thanks
we will be there Dec 1 to 5 ! MIchelle

Renee, so glad to read you enjoyed your first visit "home" & are already planning more visits!

As for housekeeping ... we don't miss it at all. We like not having someone coming in every day. It might be "home," but if there is a problem, maintenance will correct it promptly.

Michelle, there is one sit down restaurant at OKW, Olivia's. We ate there on Mother's Day & probably eat there at least once every trip - service & food are always very good. We find prices to be reasonable for Disney. Have fun in early December - WDW will be decorated for Christmas.

I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed your trip! OKW sounds so relaxing - can't wait to wander over to have a look around when we go home to BCV in Sept. I can definitely see us trying ALL the DVC resorts over the next few years!

Glad to hear you were happy with your purchase. :)

I'm sure the wine opener you bought was a nicer, but Housekeeping would probably have given you the one like they have in the larger units. It's a very basic straight cork pull. Sometimes I bring along a "real" corkscrew even though they have this one. I've found that whenever you need something, you might as well ask HK. If they say they don't have it, then you can figure out somewhere else to purchase one.

thanks Pam---I TOLD DH to just call housekeeping for a corkscrew but when we were at the AKL that night for dinner at Boma he skipped over to the gift shop to buy one. It was only $5 but still.. LOL! Men! :)

We did eat at Olivia's the first day there for lunch and really enjoyed it. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.

We did not notice a lot of children at the resort (or alot of people at all for that matter). (I am guessing the heat kept everyone inside..LOL!) We were able to find lounge chairs by the main pool every day without problem and the pool was big enough so that the kids who were playing "Marco Polo" on one end were not disturbing the adults just relaxing at the other.
