OK, since I have a little time, I'll write some of my opinions and experiences at OKW. First impression was pretty good. The Hospitality house check in area was nice, we were greeted right away. Check in was smooth, they gave the kids animal ballons and bell services drove us to our room. We forgot to ask for our package at the front desk that I had delivered to the resort and the bellman quickly went back to the HH to retrieve it for us. Very nice and helpful. Our first impression of the 1 bedroom was that it was huge! It really is like a condo and we thought the patio area was great too. Now we only had a 4 night stay so I gave the room a quick look over, it looked clean and we went on our way to the HH for some lunch. We walked and the walk was easy and not even 10 minutes and that's with our 10 and 5 year old in tow. So, we had lunch at the Goods to go. The food was good and we ate at a table on the water and it was a great start to our stay. We explored the resort a bit after lunch. To keep this short I'm going to sum up the pros and cons of the resort. Please no flaming this is just our opinion.
Pros:
Room size
Marina
Friendly CM's
Pretty grounds
Cons:
1) Room in need of a rehab(the mousekeepers did an excellent job with cleaning but there are things that were out of their hands. For example the tiles in the bathroom) I heard some rooms were rehabbed we were definately in a room that hadn't been yet. No flat screen TV's and we didn't have the newer sofa bed like we had at SSR on our last stay.
2) Need a rental car (the bus service was either OK, or terrible when leaving the parks, ex. 40 min wait then bus driver change another 15mins, 40min boat ride to DtD, a bit long when you are trying to get to another resort.
3) The "Golden Girls" color scheme and decor in the rooms(JMHO)
4) Bathroom configuration(I do know not all buildings have the bathroom set up we had, didn't think it would bother us, but it really did)
5) Map had 3 playgrounds on it, only 1 exists at the resort. After talking with 4 CM's(each saying something different, there was a playground in our area, there were no playgrounds at the resort, etc.. it was annoying talking to the front desk people on the phone!)we finally realized there is only one and the map was never updated.
I'm a little tired so I could be forgetting somethings!LOL Overall we are glad we gave OKW a try because I want to try all the
DVC resorts. We prefer the other DVC resorts we have stayed at(SSR, AKV, WLV, BWV) We have BCV booked for Nov. and I really hope we like it better than OKW.
