I just have to say what a wonderful experience this trip was. We had never cruised before, but had an awesome trip. We still have those sea legs even after the third day off the ship, but they are getting better. There is nothing like a Disney Cruise. I will answer any questions if you have any.

The May 22nd was a 4 night right?? Have you started checking out possible dates for a 7 night??? Disney Cruises are very easy to get addicted to.

One question--Who was your cruise director??

Anything that you wished you had brought/ or known about that you didn't?
First time cruiser going in Jan 06, looking for any newbie advice
Thanks

I was also on the Wonder for the May 22nd 4 night Cruise!!! It was spectacular and I am so sad to be home! I will go again, but who knows when I will have the money to do that - not soon enough I am sure.

Anywho - our cruise director was Kara from the US. I thought that she was great, very energetic and terrific with children.

I Think that I packed quite well (thanks to these boards). I do not think that I brought anything I didn't need or forgot to bring things that I did need.

The only thing I didn't count on was how much money I spent at Shutters! They take gorgeous pictures and they are so hard to resist! I found myself wishing that I had children with me on the trip because the pictures they shoot of the kids are absolutely beautiful!

I'm glad to hear your trip was so nice.

I'm going on the Wonder June 12. I have a few questions for you.

First, my daughter likes to watch movies in our room and at the theater.
What movies are on now? :dancer:

Also, my sister went to the theater at home to see Ice Princess, but it left the theater the day before. Is it being shown on the ship? :princess:

My aqua aerobics instructer May 2004 started working on the Wonder as a singer in the adult only lounge. Her name is Nola. Is she still there. She hasn't come back to the gym. :music:

Thanks for your help.

I am going on our first cruise in October 2005... was wondering how the sea sickness went and after the cruise was over where your really dizzy????

A bit worried am I!!!

I was on the Wonder in April and loved it too! I loved it so much that we booked our first 7 day for next June. Who were your servers? Ours were Dora (Peru) and Anthony (India). Loved them. Did you see Cherie, the tour guide for any of the tours? Loved her too! Wasn't Castaway Cay unbelievable?! We're going twice there next cruise. Can you imagine? Glad you had an awesome time!

Just responding to the seasick post. The first night was the worst. Our servers said that it always was because we were moving so fast to Nassau. The last night was also a little rough. I would definitely suggest bonnine, dramamine, or the patch. I think you should get it in your system before you leave and continue for several days after you disembark. Been off for 5 days and still feeling it. Not so bad that we wouldn't go again though.

We were on the 22 May cruise also.....and wish we were still there.

Both kids were on Bonine but both missed dinner the first night because of motion sickness. DS noticed a bit of motion the last night, but not enough that he missed out on anything.

Some of the movies playing in the theater included: Pooh's Heffalump Movie, A Lot Like Love, Ice Princess, The Incredibles, Ladder 49, The Pacifier, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and National Treasure.

Also on the 05/22/05 cruise. And was I ever seasick the first night!! Worse than any of the other 5 cruises I've been on. We sailed somewhere between 5:00 and 5:30 and I began getting sick around 6:00 and continued getting sicker. Thought I would actually throw up over the side of the ship around 7:30ish (didn't). I walked the decks outside as much as possible, trying to get fresh air. Went in for the show around 8:15, still feeling pretty sick--afraid I would have to jump and run from my aisle seat (didn't). After the show, I walked the deck again and somewhere around 10:30ish I began feeling better. By 11:00 I was fine and continued to be fine the rest of the cruise. Today (Tuesday) is the first day I haven't "felt the ship move" since disembarkation on Thursday morning. And yes, I took both Bonine and Ginger!!! The last night the seas were really rough, but we'd all developed out sea-legs by then.

Since this is a concern of mine for DH, was wondering if you took the Bonine before you went on the ship? I've heard that it helps if you take it before you start feeling seasick?

it says you should take an hour before you need it. I would definatally take it before the boat starts moving.

.

Have your kids ever gotten motion sickness before, like on rides and such??

I am worried about this as we get motion sickness. I was hoping I could avoid it, but sounds like I better be more prepared.

Hi Everyone,

We were also on the May 22nd 4 night wonder cruise. We also had a fabulous time. The seas were a little rough the first night but calmed down around 11pm, and the last night just a tad rough. On our first night, we had the early seating at dinner 6pm in AP. There aren't any portholes in AP so you couldn't focus on the horizon to help balance yourself out. My husband and I definitely felt the ship moving and were a little uncomfortable but were lucky enough not to have to take any dramamine. Our dd's ages 5 and 7 did not complain about it at all. I don't think it affected them. I think seasickness really affects people differently. After we debarked for about 2 days my husband and I also still had our sea legs. We were sitting down watching tv one night and I could swear that the tv was bobbing up and down. We would love to book another cruise and hope to someday soon. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

On our last cruise (4 night) one of the CM said that this is typical. I guess the ship passes through an area on the way and on the way back in that is always a little rough. I felt a little sick, but I didn't miss dinner or anything. On our 7 night last September we had two days that were so rough that I stayed in our room both days (didn't have dinner for 2 nights). That was due to hurrican Jeanne (not a usual experience I'm sure).

But anyone sensitive to motion sickness should be prepared for some rockiness the first and last night.

We sailed on the May 15th wonder. We had a faboulous time too! Can't wait to go back and do it again. Glad you had a great trip!!!

We packed Bonine and brought the seabands but never used them. Didn't need them.

I took my first Bonine on Sunday morning, around 9:00, wanted to have it in my system before we boarded--it didn't seem to make any difference. One thing I've heard and it seemed to apply to all 8 people in our group: if you can read in the car, you are less prone to seasickness. All of the other 7 people can read in the car fine and didn't have any problems, I can NOT read in the car at all, and boy was I sick!!

I am getting a bit nervous.. I booked a 4 day for October 30 and am really worried about getting sick... wonder should I not go on the cruise.. not worth being sick for days! :sad2:

I am one of those people that can get really sea sick, but one of the nice parts of the shorter cruises is that the first day you are in Nassau. No sea sickness when you are in port. Then you are at Castaway Cay, no sea sickness there either. The day at sea, they tend to go slow on the way back and they an move away from rough waters if it gets bad.

The rough part that you cross going out of PC and back in to PC isn't that bad and only lasts a few hours.

I spent 2 days in bed sick from sea sickness on our 7 night because of the rough seas from Hurricane Jeanne, but the captain was rushing to get us back to port and we were out at sea on both of those days.

One advantage I can see with the 3 night cruise is that you are never spending a whole day out at sea (so no chance of being sea sick while docked).....BUT on the 2 four nights I have been on, I have not had any problems on our day at sea (except for that one rough area that they always pass through in and out of PC--but again, it was not that bad).

I don't think you should cancel, just give it a try. Out of my 6 cruises, I have missed 3 dinners because of sea sickness and those were on the 7 night cruises and 2 of those were due to a hurricane.

We were on the 3 day last week. It was slightly rocky the first night, and 3 out of 4 of us were dizzy...but not sick. We just walked like we drank too much! We must have gotten used to it though, because we did not feel it the rest of the cruise. However, we were still rocking a little 2 days after we got off! :)
