Here is my take on the 3. I was glad to hear the Dolphin will be doing some remodeling. The carpets on the 2nd floor really smelled moldy 0and were spoted with mold, but only in the hallways. The mattresses in the room I think also need to be replaced. But I would highly recommend the hotel. This was our 3rd stay and will most likely stay here again. The location to EPCOT and MGM was great. We love to be able to stroll along the bdwalk at night. We loved the WL theme and the lobby area is just beatiful. I was wasn't impressed with the view, but didn't complain since we really didn't spend to much time in the room. I paid for a wood view and I guess technically that's what I got. We were in room 4087 which is over Wyspering Canyon, which we could hear at times. The view was a tree'd area but didn't completely shield the service area on the other side, which we could hear trucks backing up at all times of the day. We loved being able to sit in a rocker over looking the lobby, which made our stay complete. The only other down side for the WL was the over crowded pool. It didn't seem to matter what time of day we were at the pool it was always packed. We really liked the theming of the pool which may have been it's down fall. Since I over heard people talking about how they heard how neat the pool was, so they had to came over to check it out. I really think Disney needs to check room keys for pool hopers. The AKL was semply beatiful, but we only stayed 2 days which I don't think is nearly enough. If I had to find a complaint it would be our room location. We were in Kudu trail on the second floor. To get to our room we had to walk a really long distance to get to just about any where in the Hotel. But even this wouldn't keep us from going back. We loved the AKL I just wished we could have stayed longer here. The kids loved the pool at the AKL.

We do not mind long walks - we stayed at the Dolphin at the end of a wing.
5 - 7 minutes to the pool, food, laundry, friendship boat, buses

So... How is the POOL at AKL ?

My kids love waterfalls (at the Dolphin Grotto) and slides ?

Do they provide life vests free to the younger set (Dolphin had one for my 7 yr old DD) ?

How deep is the deepest part ? How shallow is the shallow end ?

Is it zero entry ?

Lots of places to sit around the pool ?

Ever find it crowded ?

Sorry for so many questions. The pool has become my DS & DD priority in selecting
a resort. Mind you we still have the final say over our kids. ;)

I saw kinds at the AKL with life vest, but don't know if the AKL proveded or not, sorry. My kids rate the slide at the Dolphin the best and AKL the worst. To quote my 8 yo son the slide at the AKL was lame. The AKL pool is zero entry and it went up to 4'-11" at the deepest point. I really liked the pool. But the grotto pool at the dolphin is hard to beat. Never found the AKL pool to be crowded though.

luvdisney, thanks for your post. We stayed at WL in June. Next time we are going to try AKL. What restort did you like better? I was not impressed with the WL pool. Maybe because it was always packed, even at 11:00 at night. How does the pool compare at AKL? How was your transportation? You said the pool slide at AKL was lame. Is it that bad? My kids love a good slide. I thought the slide at WL was just OK but fun.... thanks... amy

The pool at the AKL was better then the WL as far as I was concerned. The slide was fun but as compared to the WL or Dolphin it was the worst of the 3. My kids rated the Dolphin with the best and the AKL with the worst. But no matter which one it was still fun. If I was choosing today between the AKL or WL I think I would choose the AKL. Just seemed to be less crowded then the others.
