Just back from DL & Candy Cane Inn

Hi -
We stayed there in December. The walk is LESS that the walk from the DLH. It is not bad at all -- we did it with our 5 yo and he did not complain once. Remember they have a shuttle too. The only bad thing is that sometimes we were ready to leave the park and thought about taking the shuttle but our timing was off. They run every 1/2 hour and we seldom hit that time. It was easier and faster to walk than to wait for the shuttle.

We are staying at the HOJO in August and from what I understand the walk is about the same. We will see!

Its just over half a mile from CCI to Security check at DL, HoJos is the same!!!!

How long it takes depends on your walking speed...

OK... the BIG question for new folks: HOW FAR WAS THE WALK? :)

The shuttle leaves the motel on the hour & half hour, and leaves DL 15 mins & 45 mins after each hour. We would walk to and from anytime the shuttle wasn’t there. For us, with a full stroller, it took 15 minutes from security check point to the motel. We’re not sprinters by any means, strollin” and talkin' is our way of walkin”! There is one intersection with a light to cross. If you hit a green light, it’s faster. The sidewalks from the motel to DL are wide and well maintained, Harbor Street is well lite, and the foot traffic goes quickly. Anytime after 10:00 at night, the shuttle is full, standing room only back to the motel. Lots of people chose to walk back late at night because the shuttle fills so fast, and it’s hard to hold on while standing during the ride back. The people who chose to walk would make it back to the motel at the same time the shuttle arrived. It’s a nice, smooth, safe, easy walk.

Just back from a four day trip to Disneyland/California Adventure, (July 13-16). Stayed at Candy Cane Inn. Had a wonderful time! Happy to answer any questions.

I have a question about the parks (not the hotel) Are the Rats from the new movie out as characters you can meet and if so where ... my son just saw this movie and wants to get his picture with Remy Thanks

Remy and Emile have been appearing regularly in NOS this summer.

The rats from Ratatouille are in New Orleans Square between the Rivers of America and the Cafe Orleans and French Market.

We did see them, and they are very popular! And cute as a rat! They were out several times a day in New Orleans. You can ask any cast member in that area when they will come out, they usually have a good idea of the schedule.

This was the time it took me too, for some reason others felt this was being unfair and that they did it in 5 minutes, its not a bad walk but IMO its not a 5 minute walk for us mortals...

Thanks so much for the great info! This answered alot of my questions for our upcoming trip. Just myself and 15 yr old daughter and distance and safety were very much on my mind!

I was there also, got back Wednesday. It is a 10 minute walk to the security area (give or take a minute, depending on the light at Disney Way).

How were the crowds????

Compared with Walt Disney World right now, and compared to other times of the year I've been to DL - busy. I had taken a few crowd shots to put up (to show that).

I was told it's not as busy as normal for summer (it's been about 8 years since I'd been in summer). The attraction lines were not always bad, CA Adventure especially (TOT - 25 minutes or so each time I stopped by). The only really bad wait time was Nemo, and I waited until evening to ride (waiting an hour to 75 minutes instead of a lot longer).

But getting to the fireworks, or to Fantasmic - crazy. I didn't end up seeing Fantasmic again because it just was too crowded for me. Next time, I'd like to go back in November/December, not around the time of a holiday. :)
