Our day at Discovery Cove!

It was a overcast day, but great none-the-less. We arrived at about 7:30 and they were allowing us to go ahead in and get our suits/vests and lockers. The dolphin swim was amazing and I had booked the Deluxe Birthday Package for dd who was turning seven that day. She loved it when Tyler brought her a special treat with her name on it and it made for quite an emotional moment. Although, I got my knee pretty banged up from one of the big rocks in the lagoon! I always get hurt!!

It basically rained the entire day....I mean RAIN..not drizzle.. so it made snorkling in the sting ray and coral reef areas not doable! It was just too cold and no matter how many times we tried to just go for it and just walk right into the water in hopes our bodies would get used to...it didn't happen. My daughter was actually turning blue...so, that was a bit of a bummer. There was a lot of stuff we didn't see due to the cold, cold, cold water! But, the snorkling in the river was AMAZING and we did it for hours on end.

The warm mosaic showers they have around are life savers...both for a quick warm up and for putting on those tight spring suits!! The staff are wonderful and treat you so good.

The only thing that went wrong was the DVD. Because we booked the Birthday Package we were to get a DVD with Audio and they couldn't locate the footage from our group. The guy videotaping our dolphin swim coded it into the wrong area so they couldn't find it. When they did find it they could only burn me a normal copy with music over the experience. They said they would mail me the correct copy in a few days.

It was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives and we hope to do it again. One note..I would recommend water shoes. There were people all over with bandages on their feet from the rough terrain under the water.

SW was INCREDIBLE as well and Believe rocked me to my core. I actually teared up a few times. We did the Adventure Express tour and well worth the money. Would book it again in a heartbeat. A MUST DO!

Yeaahhh Tyler was my dolphin as well.... He is so cute... Sorry about the weather, hope you had a good time anyway....

I was thinking about booking the Adventure Express Tour for our upcoming trip...can you tell me how they handle the tour? Did it allow you anytime to meander away from the group if you wanted to? Any information you can share would be greatly appreciated :flower3:

Sure - I will be happy to fill you in!

You meet at your designated time after you've gone up to Guest Relations and gotten your VIP badge. Your guide comes and tells you what you'll be doing that day and he gives you all a bottle of water. You pretty much have a schedule to stick to and you do stay with your group the entire 6 hours. You get wonderful seats at Believe and the Dolphin show...underwater viewing areas...wonderful facts about the critters you'll see...backstage to see the penguins and rub one's back...you have a scheduled lunch break and you eat right next to Shamu's holding lagoon...anytime you need a drink you just ask and they provide it for you during your tour...while you're on rides the guide will watch your belongings. This tour SPOILED US ROTTEN. Yes, there were things along the way that I would have liked to have stopped and seen, but you do have time to do your own thing after the tour ends. Our tour guide was Nick and he was FANTASTIC.

That was one of the best vacation days I've ever had. Can't wait to book it again!

Life couldn't have gotten any better at the moment Tyler was carrying us to shore even if I had just won the lottery :cloud9: ! Just Amazing...can't wait to do it again next year.

Thank you soooo much for the information Mom2Rae! I had booked the tour and wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do...but you just sold me!! Thanks again:banana:

WOW! Thank you for telling us it was that great of a day even with the rain. Our dd made swimming with dolphins her wish. Thanks for the tip on the water shoes. I was hoping to get everyone some keen sandals and maybe they could be used as water shoes.

I have a question about the end of the day. We have ADR's at the GF Park Fare dinner with Cindy at 6:30 the same day as DC. DC closes at 5:30 and I think our dolphin swim is at 3:30 (group of 7). Is this going to be doable, including changing into princess dresses (could we do this at DC?) and getting to dinner or do you think we should try to switch our ADR's that night to a different night.

It was the only day Cinderella was available too.
