Hey guys,

We just returned from 7 days in Orlando and had a wonderful stay at Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. We had a three-bedroom unit (F44) in the "Bird Cay" building. The unit was very spacious and well appointed. We experienced the many positives pointed out in the numerous threads previously posted. I would like to point out a couple of negatives that in no way would keep us from staying here again. First of all, the television reception was terrible. Most of the channels were blurry and not watchable. Not sure if this is the case in all units, but it was for the TVs in both the 2-bedroom and 1-bedroom units we occupied. Also we had the same problem with our key card not working as mentioned in an earlier thread. After returning from a day at the parks, the last thing you want is to not be able to get in to your room. After four trips to the front desk (located in Phase I) and a meet-up with security we finally got in (about an hour later). Also, the miniature golf (9-holes) located on site was pretty bad. I would go elsewhere to get your putt-put fix! As I said earlier these negatives would not keep me from staying here again. Overall Grade: B+ If you have any questions feel free to ask. Here are some pictures:

Mudd............

glad you had a great stay and thanks for the wonderful pics! Great job. :)

Too bad about the putt-putt, although I'm not sure we'll have time for that anyway.

About the TV........did you by chance call the front desk to see if anything could have been done? Just wondering what they told you if you did. Or did you ask anyone else, like at the pool, if they were having the same problem? I'm curious if you guys were the only ones or if it's a whole property problem.

We have a two bedroom booked...............I see the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom..............which picture showed what the second bathroom looked like, specifically the tub. Everything looked great. Even the outside corridors..............very nice and clean.

Thanks again for posting. I'm so excited about our trip! :teeth:

Thanks so much for the detailed pics. My DDs and I just finished watching the slideshow and we're more excited than ever!!!! We'll be there in a 2 bedroom unit at the end of November!!!! Question: did they have volleyballs, basketballs, etc. there for guests to use?

I don't know whether this was the same problem we had, but it's possible.

Their TV service is Direct TV, I believe and if it isn't set correctly the picture is fuzzy. We checked in and I noticed the problem so I simply called the front desk. We went to dinner and it was fixed when we returned. :cheer2:

Other than that, we have never had any problems with TV's during any of our stays at CP. BTW, if you have a 2 bedroom, remember that the TV in the smaller bedroom doesn't get cable... it's for DVD's only. You get cable in the master bedroom and living room.

Glad you had such a great time! :flower:

Did you go off site to restaurants? Would you share what you tried off site? Where did you buy your groceries? What type of selection did they have and what were the prices like? Did you cook much there? Did they have all the kitchen supplies you needed?

Your post is perfectly timed since we have a group of 10 going to Grand Villas over Tday and are getting all the info. Thank you for sharing, loved the pics.

Were the Grandvillas refurbished recently or just the Cypress Pointe? Also, was there a DVD player for the main tv?

Which of the Grandvilla pools did you like better? Which building would you reccomend staying in?

Any info would be helpful.

Mom of Sleepy, Bashful and BabyDoc,

Like Debbie Jean said, the TV issue may have been a tuning problem. We used the TV just to try and get updates on the local weather, but noticed the majority of the channels were not good. One quick call may of fixed this issue, but we did not see it as a big deal. As for the second bathroom, look at slide 17.

tinaluis,

According to the information channel for the resort volleyballs, basketballs and tennis gear could be picked up at the front desk (free of charge). We did not try it though.

JenniferW,

There are several restaurants close to the resort. We ate at Chili’s (very good) and Joe's Crab Shack (dirty, but food was good). We saw Olive Garden, Red Lobster, TGI Fridays, Uno's (pizzeria) Kobe's Japanese Steak House and several others. We also ate at the Rainforest Cafe and Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney (which is also very close). As for groceries we used the Winn Dixie located just behind the resort. They had everything we needed w/ decent prices. Also, note a good place to get gas is at the Hess station across from the Market Place in Downtown Disney. We paid $2.48 per gallon. It was almost $3.00 everywhere else we saw.

Phase I just underwent the full refurbishment. I would guess that Phase II (Grande Villas) will under go one before too long because some of the carpet and furniture is starting to look a bit dated. There are only VCRs in the Grande Villas.

As for pools we used the pool opposite the Turtle pool the most. Mainly because it was just outside our unit. The volcano pool (Phase I) was definitely the most active and for this reason we tried to stay away from it. I would recommend the building we stayed in (Bird Cay) and our unit F44 was on the top floor overlooking the pool. But really there is not a bad spot. Good luck!

Terrific photos....thanks for posting !
Loved that sailboat bedroom ! :boat:
Very pretty resort, sorry there was a couple negatives but sounds like you had a nice time overall :flower:

Thanks Mudd........got it. A regular tub/shower. That's what I thought but it seemed like I was seeing lots of jacuzzi tubs. :teeth:

Glad you had fun! WE were there in January, stayed in the regular resort side...nice to see pics of the grandvillas as we want to try them out next trip.
