Just Back from CSR!

My DW has not mentioned one of my favorite things -- hammocks right on the other side of the walk on a nice white sand beach. Steps from the quiet pool and the perfect place for a reinvigorating power nap.

Of course, any place is magic that features my FAB 4 fam...:thumbsup2

Now that is one of the sweetest things I've read on the DIS in a long time. :)

Thank you! Our experience at CSR would make it hard to ever try another moderate, since we already KNOW we like this one. I'm slightly curious about POR because of the boat to DTD and the latest rehab, but I'm worried about what I hear about the buses!

We stayed at CSR twice, during President's Week in February, and we found the bus service to be incredible. I've been tempted to try POFQ because it looks so pretty, but the bus service scares me off.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. We also stayed in Cabanas, I think 8B, this most recent trip and loved the location. I also pay for a water view room just to ensure that we have a room directly facing that inner area of the resort, around the lake. That's worth it to me. I know what you mean, if we had a room toward the back, facing the parking lot, I probably would have felt differently.

Hi, I am glad you had a great stay. We stayed there the past 2 years and absolutely enjoy it. We have not found one fault with it. However, I am curious about POR and the royal room refurb so we have chose it for our tirp in June:banana:. I have a night available before we go to Unviersal for a night, I think we are going to CSR for the one night.

I especially love the doors between the bedroom and bathroom. I noticed POR has a curtain, I am not to happy about that.

We shall see.:goodvibes

I'm so curious about those royal rooms as well. I think my DD especially would love it there. I will be watching eagerly for your review, and would love to read how it compares to CSR. Yeah, I'm skeptical about the curtain, too. Will you have your own car? We would love to go to Universal for a day, but it seems so expensive with transportation for just one day. If Universal were smart, they'd offer free shuttles from Disney.

Thank you for doing this review. I will be arriving for my first stay at CSR in 13 days, and I have been a little apprehensive, but you have helped to put my mind at ease. I am now actually looking forward to and getting excited about staying here. :goodvibes

You are so welcome! It is my pleasure to write a review and it makes me really happy to think I helped to get you excited! YAY! I hope you have a great time.

Thank you so much for your comments. We are trying CSR in January. I'm a little worried that maybe I should have paid extra for the preferred location. But I guess we'll just take what we get. I hope we get as great a location as you did! I know I'm going to miss WL though.

You are welcome! The bad thing about the preferred location at CSR is the distance to the Dig Site. I don't see the point of paying extra if the Dig Site plays an important role in your decision to stay at CSR. If you want a central location, I suggest requesting Cabanas. It's possible the request won't be granted, but it's worth a try. You might not miss WL as much as you think. The Poly is our favorite and we didn't miss it at all when we were at CSR!

Yes! How could I forget to mention the glorious hammocks! We surely enjoyed those. Shockingly, there was never anyone else using them. We often felt like we had the resort to ourselves! In all our trips to the Poly, we had never actually used a hammock, but we did at CSR. They were so accessible.

Now that is one of the sweetest things I've read on the DIS in a long time. :)

Thank you! He is the sweetest, most wonderful hubby and dad (like your Mark :))! And I just found out this trip he's also really flexible. Who knew?

You know, I wouldn't have considered paying extra for a water view before staying there, but now that I have seen the difference in the overall atmosphere from one side to the other, I totally agree. I would definitely think about it next time. Maybe the people who give CSR bad reviews have rooms in those dingy corridors, or facing the parking lot?

Thanks for the great report! I'll be checking into CSR this Saturday and will be there again Nov 26th-Dec 4th. Can't wait to return to my favorite resort.:woohoo:

We love CSR!! It's our favorite resort- and we've stayed at many deluxes. we feel that we get deluxe at a great price!!

Yes, our 6 year old will really like the dig site. I think I'll leave it as is. I did request a couple buildings in Cabanas. But I am not counting on getting my request granted. Besides that I called Disney last night and it's 340 extra to upgrade to preferred. Not worth it to me.

You're welcome! I am very envious that you are on your way! Get dowsed by some jaguar spit for me!

Yes, I understand what you mean. While I was there I was thinking I liked CSR better than WL and AKL...but that may not be really true...I always have the best memories of my most recent trip! It is absolutely a wonderful deal though, one of the best bangs for your buck on property!

No, I would personally save the 340 as well. It wouldn't be worth it to me, either, to save several steps and a few minutes. Good luck getting your request granted!

Oooh, I cannot wait to lay in the hammocks with DH. It was definitely a factor in choosing CSR. They look so relaxing in the pics.

We also enjoyed our first stay a CSR last week. We were placed in the Ranchos building 7A. At first I was concerned, but once we were there we ended up loving it. I was concerned because other posters said the resort is huge and if you are in the back the walk to El Centro is so long. Well, it was about a 1 minute walk to the #3 bus stop, less than a minute walk to our car, a 1 minute walk to the laundry and quiet pool, about a 3 -4 minute walk to the Dig Site and about a 9 minute walk to El Centro (and all of these times were while I was walking in record heat). Our room too was very clean and quiet. Bus service was the best we ever had. We look forward to our next stay and we will definately be requesting building 7A.

36 days and counting ! I had no choice at the time and got a water view so now reading this and your review makes me even more pumped, we're all first time visitors and just going nuts with waiting for Oct 15 to arrive

This is great! Now I'm excited about going back CSR in March. I just booked yesterday. I really wanted to try the Poly, but I just can't work it into the budget for next year (We also want to take a beach vacation next summer). We stayed at CSR in May. I requested the Cabanas, but we were in Ranchos 6A. It was a long walk to El Centro, but we were really close to a bus stop and about 5 minutes from the Dig Site. I was a little disappointed about the loacation when we goth there, but it was fine. I requested the Cabanas again for March.

I requested the cabanas this time and when I was talking to the reservationist I said, I know I will never get them. She said something about pixie dust and how you never know.. LOL It'll be nice if we get them, but if not it will be totally ok too.

We were in Cabanas and it was wonderful! We could have almost thrown a rock to Bus Stop 4, had a very short walk to the Dig Site, and not a terribly long walk to El Centro. Oh, and another wonderful thing about CSR...the playground! It's fantastic!!
