Well, we just returned last night from a 7 day stay at the CSR. First and formost the resort is BEAUTIFUL! I cannot stress that enough, the grounds of this resort are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We paid for a standard room and were upgraded at checkin to a waterview of the lake...INCREDIBLE! It was the week before Easter so we were really impressed...We were in Cabanas 8B room 8228 which was a corner room so we had two windows, loved that! We were not far from the Dig Site and bus stop 4 was right behind us!

As far as the resort being big and spread out, it is, there is no way to get around that, you will always kinda have to walk somewhere. We had about a 10 minute stroll to the main building, not bad but a bit of a hassle at times and I wouldn't want to have to do it in the blazing August heat. The busses were not very good sadly, granted, it was a very busy week, so there was one day we waited for a MK bus for over 55 minutes then forgot about it and went to AK. We were at bus stop 4 so the busses would fill up at 1 & 2 and then just drive on by us. We figured that out pretty quickly, so would walk to bus stop 1, though I felt it still wasn't fair to those waiting and waiting at 3&4.

Housekeeping was another very sad issue. In 7 nights our sheets were never changed once and we called and complained 3 times (they never got changed) finally speaking with the manager of the entire resort and voicing our complaint ( we feel he componsated us accordingly) finally! Another thing, there was garbage under the bed (wrappers, small food pieces) that were there when we checked in and there when we checked out!

All in all it is a pretty place, very quiet, almost too quiet (if that's possible), and I guess we would stay there again. I feel it just lacked something, maybe Disney's special touch, that we have found in other disney resorts. Oh yeah and there was a tow-truck convention while we were there (yes, tow-truck)!

Any questions, just ask!

Emmy

Glad you liked the resort.

From what I understand sheets are not changed unless they are dirty. It is typical for the same sheets to be on the beds. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I've read this on the boards..

No, actually according to housekeeping and Alfredo the CSR manager they have to be changed every 4 days, sooner if there is a problem.

Glad you enjoyed the resort. It is beautiful. Sorry to hear about the mousekeeping problems. :(

Yes Emme,

You said the buses would drive on by past bus stop 4? So you would suggest walking to Bus stop 1 instead of waiting there?

Also did you ask for the upgrade or was it pixie dust? What did you think of Pepper Market?

Thanks we will be there in 4 days. I'm looking forward to it.

This is the main reason we have always liked POFQ as the best moderate resort at WDW. All buildings are close to everything which really is a plus after a 10+ hour day on your feet. You also only have to worry about 1 bus stop at POFQ too.

We are staying at CSR in June. Your transportation concerns were the first real negative ones I have read about the resort. Did you get a sense that that was due mainly to the high crowds or do you think that usually applies? (While we will probably drive to most of the parks, we do intend to take the buses to MK.)

Also, what sections would you recommend to be close to the dig site, yet not too far from El Centro?

Thanks.

MAC3, e just had pixie dust, we had not thought of even asking for an upgrade because it was Easter week, but there it was:teeth: . I think you should wait at stop 4, if that's your nearest stop, and see what happens. Again, remember it was a VERY busy week in Disney. Now for the Pepper Market, we ate there twice with vouchers and it was WELL WORTH the money with the vouchers. They had all types of food that was very good and portions were large. We enjoyed it very much!

Unregistered, we were only a very short walk to the dig site (pool area) and about a 10 minute walk to the main bldg, strolling. The only area that seemed way out there from pretty much everything were the Rancheros.

Hope that helps!

This may help.

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

OR

Take the bus instead of walking
Theme park buses go:
2 - Casitas
3 - Ranchos
4 - Cabanas
1 - El Centro

Downtown Disney buses, as well as Park Exit buses go:
1 - El Centro
2 - Casitas
3 - Ranchos
4 - Cabanas

CSR buses go in this order so that guests can hop on board a theme park bus and take it to the main building. They can then hop on a DTD bus to get back to their rooms.

Thanks Emme! We check in on the 16th and I am really looking forward to staying here. We did request Rancheros (I loved the themeing of them) and we really don't mind walking.

Or we will just take Mario's advise and catch the bus back and forth to our room. Looks like our bus stop is #3....

We shall see!

Thanks for the report!

Glad you had a great time, even with the minor problems.

We stayed there a few years back and loved it...going back in just a few weeks.

My guess on the bus situation is because of the holiday week. We had no problems previously.

Was it easy to come back in the afternoon via the bus? Or did you stay in the parks all day?

My dh and I have stayed at the CSR a couple times and love it. We have never had a probelm with buses but we also go in Value Season.

Glad you had a nice trip!!
