We just got back from a quick three day trip to WDW. We stayed at the CR thanks to the Shades of Green and had a really great time. The hotel, which is not one of my favorites, was really enjoyable. Checked in early and the room was ready. I really LOVE the location of this hotel. It is so easy to get around WDW from here. I also have a new found appreciation for the north garden building. I like how we can park so close to the building, how it overlooks the water, it is really close to the snack bar, game room and pools! We had a garden room on the first floor. Our room overlooked the kids playground and it was wonderful to sit on the outside chairs and watch the kids playing.

The kids arcade was really great. I can't recommend the snack bar though. It was really awful (food quality/price) but very convienent for a last minute snack.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hey lookingforward,
WE are heading to the Contemporary in a week for our first visit there. We are very excited about it even though it is supposedly lacking in Disney themes. We are just excited to be so close to the MK since that is where our kids like to be the most. I have a room booked for a wing and was hoping to get in the North Wing. We are not SOG so I hope this will be possible. Did you request a specific room (with playground view, etc. ) or did you take what they gave you. We were thinking we would like a view of the bay to see the parade. The playground sounds nice also since we have 2 that would enjoy that. Can you still have a view of the bay if you stay outside of the playground? We were also hoping for a first floor room with a patio. Also, is there a laundry room in each wing? I know we will have to do one load at least. How were the crowds for you? I am hoping they wont be too bad when we go. Thanks for any info you can give me. :D :D

Hi blessed by 3! When I booked the room I was told that I was getting a patio room. It was about $10 more per night. From our room 7113 you could see the water but I don't think it would give you a great view of the electrical parade. It was FANTASTIC being able to sit out on the chairs and let the kids play on the very substantial playground equipment. Definately ask for a patio room. When we stayed at the CR in April we had a bay view room which we could have watched the parade from. We chose to go downstairs and sit on the grass and watch it outside. This provided for a much better view and a really close up experience where we could listen to the music.

I am not sure about the laundry room. I do know that the entire building is not just SOG guests. I would definately request the north wing and if anyone has allergies(as we do..my son has severe allergies) I am sure they will make sure you get the north wing which is entirely non-smoking. Have a great trip!

Hey lookingforward, glad to hear that you had a good time! My DH and DD and I are also going to be staying at CR through SoG, got great rates for the North Garden Wing since DH is in the Navy. I heard different things, good and bad, about CR. Glad to hear yours was a great experience. We'll be taking DD to MK and Epcot for her first time! only staying at CR for a night. but I'm looking forward to it!

We were thinking of staying at Cr,but thought that you could only get good views of WDW from a tower room. Can you see from the garden wing view how far of a walk is it to the tower rooms from the garden wing rooms?
