Just back from CBR

I do have some concerns about room condition (ie wear and tear) I have seen other posts lately about the beds being noisy (creaking) how was your experience in this matter.

I had read this too - didn't experience it ourselves. Of course, we were pretty tired, so maybe I just didn't notice. :)
The shower stall looked brand new (was really cool, BTW, with a carving in it - hard to explain), the tile on the bathroom floor also looked new. The TV cabinet/dresser was a little worn - nothing wrong with it though. Carpeting was not worn. Overall, everything looked good!

wow! i am gald to hear a glowing report... jamica looks really nice that is where i would want to stay....did you find it a long wait for the internal bus service?

I thought Jamaica was the prettiest - yellow buildings with blue roofs - and it was close to everything without being "preferred". The only time we used the internal bus service was when we arrived (to go from the Custom House to our room) and we probably waited 5 minutes. We really didn't need to use it to get to Old Port Royale (I timed myself the first morning - I left the room at 6:33 am, bought donuts and milk and refilled our mugs, and was back in the room at 6:52 am - and I didn't rush!)

The buses to the park were hit and miss. A couple of times one pulled up just as we got to the stop, but there were two mornings that we did have to wait about 20 minutes. The first night, we were leaving MK about 11:00pm and there was a HUGE line at the CBR bus stop - we figured on having a really long wait, and were getting concerned - then 6 buses pulled up one after the other. We got on the 5th one and even got a seat - we were in bed (after tubs and everything) by midnight.

:thumbsup2 Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at CBR. It is our favorite moderate resort, such beautiful grounds. I've never stayed at Jamaica, was it the last bus stop? Still debating on which island to request. Thanks in advance for any information

There seemed to be no regularity to the bus stop. Most of the time we were the first drop off, maybe twice we were the last. As for picking up, I'm not sure where we were, but the most we ever picked up after us was Aruba and Barbados (this seemed to be the trend) - one morning for MK Jamaica filled up the bus, and we didn't stop anywhere else.

We will be checking into CBR on May 9th after a long hiatus, we have been staying at the values for the last ten years and we can't wait to get back there. But, like you, I have also been reading mixed reports leading up this this stay.

I do have some concerns about room condition (ie wear and tear) I have seen other posts lately about the beds being noisy (creaking) how was your experience in this matter. We always stayed in the Aruba or Jamaica buildings in the past because we really enjoyed the walk across the bridge over to Old Port Royale.

Thanks again for your report and I'm glad you and your family had a great trip.

CBR here we come!

Try not to worry...we were there in August (06) and our room was in pefect condition :thumbsup2

We're booked there for our November trip. We can not wait. Do you have any pictures?

I think my husband has some on his phone that we may be able to post - I'll have to figure out how, though! :) I still use a camera with film, so I have to get my pictures developed (I know, I'm in the dark ages), but if I get some, I'll post them.

We just returned yesterday afternoon from a week long stay at CBR. Before leaving, I spent hours pouring over these threads - for some reason, CBR seemed to be the least favorite moderate here. I also found some people who absolutely love it, so I was really wondering what we would think.

Well, we LOVED it! This resort is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! The buildings are very attractive with bright colors, white carved railings and cupolas (spelling?). The grounds are gorgeous - sandy beaches, beautiful lake, lush tropical landscaping.

Check in was a breeze - we arrived around 2:00pm, check in took less than 10 minutes (I was done before my husband had changed a diaper!). CM was very pleasant - gave me a choice of rooms, and directed us to internal bus to get to our room. We stayed in Jamaica, Bldg 46. (I had requested Jamaica before we left). The room was very clean - they started us off with a towel animal (and we got two more later in the week). Each day the mousekeepers arranged the kids stuffed animals too - very cute! The room was always cleaned before we came back for our afternoon break - usually around 2:00pm. Our room was a 2 minute walk to the bus stop - in fact, we could see the buses coming from the bottom of the steps - and about a 7 minute walk to Old Port Royale (across Caribbean Cay - beautiful!!)

The food court was fabulous. Easy to figure out (a blessing after CSR - ugh!), quick, friendly service and good food. Never had trouble with it being crowded. I picked up a quick breakfast there each morning and we ate one lunch and two dinners there. Everything we tried was good.

I can't say enough good things. If anyone has any questions for me, let me know. We had a wonderful trip!!

Glad to hear that you had a great time! I am looking forward to my first stay there with DH at the end of 2007.

Im glad you enjoyed CBR! My husband and I loved it as well and cant wait to go back =)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at CBR! It's definitely our favorite resort! Did CBR still have resort specific mugs or have they changed to the new refillable mug that have non-resort specific designs?

Glad to hear you had a great time -- we were just there at the end of March and we all wish we were still there -- it's our favorite resort!

Glad to hear great things about CBR, we check in on the 12th. for the first time. We stayed at POR last Nov. and really enjoyed it, but I'm very much looking forward to the tropical theming at CBR. Thanks for the review.

They are non-resort specific. I was a little disappointed in that...

We stayed at Jamaica from 3-18 to 3-23. I was concerned with my recent knee surgery that being across the lake from the Customs House that it would be too far to walk. I was worried about nothing. We will be going back to CBR on our next trip as well. Beautiful resort and relaxing as well. Glad to hear a good report.

Apparently our family decided we needed to join the 21st century. We got 2 digital cameras for Christmas. I still have undeveloped film from our trip to Disney in Jan. '06 so I totally understand.

I get so excited when I read posts like this. My first stay at CBR is coming up quickly, I can not wait!

So glad to hear your review!! We love this resort and are going to be there June 16 -26:banana: :yay:  I cant imagine picking another resort to stay at. The other mods, dont appeal to us. I hope everyone has a magical stay!!pixiedust:

So excited to hear this report. After 16 years onsite, we're finally getting around to CBR. We're going to be there for 2 weeks in early September.

We've stayed at deluxe's for the past 9 years and ASSp and PORFQ prior to that. We didn't care for the ASSp (too noisy & crowded) and the PORFQ was okay, but the rooms were pretty cramped. Having gotten used to the deluxe's and having read some negative reports about CBR, we were a little tentative about it, but it's the one the kids picked out and we were so game for saving a nice little chunk of change.

Glad you had a great trip! Hope everyone with upcoming trips does as well!
