Hello fellow DISers
Just returned Monday from a wonderful 4 night stay at CBR in Aruba Room#5442.
I'll do my best to answer questions as I'm not very good at doing trip reports.

were the water cannons working at the main pool? i had heard they weren't earlier in the year.

glad to hear you had a good time. i am there in 30 odd days myself

yes..... do tell about the pool ! We will be there in late September, and my boys want to know if they can climb on the castle or play with the water cannons.

Also, how did you like your room ? How did you like the food court, and was the parking close or far away from your room ??

Thanks.... anything you have to say about CBR will be helpful !

I would also love to know what you thought of CBR.

Did you get to spend much time at the resort? I see you were there for 4 days (we are going next spring for 4 or 5 days), hope you had some time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

What did you think about the room? How was housekeeping?

How did you like the location of your building (Aruba 54)? I was thinking of requesting that area. In your opinion, was it too far from the food court?

Did you get a chance to see Illuminations from the beach at CBR?

Could you see Epcots Spaceship Earth (the Giant Golf Ball) from your building?

Thanks!

I'm going in November and requested a preferred room - do you know anything about those? Is there one location I should request if we want to be the closest to the pool and food court - I will have a 14 month old at the time and don't want to drag her around too much to get from place to place. Thanks!

Well lets see what I can tell ya'll~

The Pool- we mainly swam in the quiet pool, but did sit by the main pool one evening and the water canons were working, every few seconds it would splash out,it looked pretty cool. Lot of kids there,so obviously its a kid pleaser.

The Room- Aruba 54 standard view, but actually you could see the beach right outside our door. Very nice room, loved the shower area. It had a little ledge in there almost like it was made for you to sit while you enjoyed the massaging shower head.(and no it was not a handicapped room). Anyways we liked it,quite relaxing.

The location- We actually thought you had to drive evrytime we wanted to go to OPR for food, but we found the bridge not far down from the building that took us straight there.very nice walk we feed the ducks everytime. We saw a mouse and rabbits on the Cay. So,no it really isnt a far walk. At night we would lay on a hammock on the beach and just sway....awesome! We could see firworks from Epcot but no ball.

The buses- Ran almost every 5-10 min. Longest wait was sunday when it ddnt seem like any buses were running that great, actually our last night the hydrulic stairs for the wheelchiar broke at the jamacia stop and we had to walk to aruba, but thats not a common thing. So I rate the buses a 8. Jamacia was usally the 1st stop. But a couple drivers went to Trindad South 1st. then jamacia.
MGM studios is only like 5min. This should be a studios resort!

Housekeeping-very good! The arranged our things on the counter in the bathroom, and on the last day made 3 towel animals.

I really cant help w/the preferred rooms. Anything else let me know.::MinnieMo

It sounds like you liked EVERYTHING about CBR, from the positive tone of your comments!

Thanks for all the great info. I am becoming quite confident that my choice of resort will be CBR when I book my vacation.

Glad that you enjoyed your 4-day getaway at this resort!

i was wondering if Aruba is reg price or preferred?? we might stay here around the end of Aug. i have 2 rooms, dd15 and 2 friends now are coming with us. either that , or we will just go with 2 rooms at all stars. i would like to try this resort for a change. the only problem w/knee, i could not stay like at the furthest bldg. i guess its the luck of the draw. i figure the all stars are not quite as much walking. also how is the restaurant food? the kids always seem to find what they like at the food courts.

Martinique is probably the closest to the food court and main pool. Trinidad North is pretty close also. That is why they are preferred locations because they are close to the main pool and food court.

Aruba is not a preferred location.

When the fireworks start they turn off the lights on Spaceship Earth so you wouldn't be able to see it.

You can see it through the trees when it is lighter out.

The water cannons when they worked were nothing you could play with. The water came out at random times. There are steps up into the castle that lead to the water slide.

I dont recall saying you COULD play w/the canons,I just said the kids liked it since they didnt know when it would shoot. DH and i must be blind because we looked and looked and didnt see the sphere in daylight.
The food court had a variety to choose from, I know its disney but it was a little crazy to spend $7 on an adult b-fast platter. My advice bring your own stuff for quick b-fast. Shutters looked nice but my DH didnt like the selection(picky) or the prices so we never ate there.

I have a very bad knee problem and Aruba even though not prefered was fine for me.

Will be there next month, would like to know how the quaility of the food was? Did you enjoy it, and was there a good selection to choose from? Thanks for any information you can give me.

Can't wait just my self and husband going!!!!

Safetymom~ It looked as if you were because everyone else was replying to me.

MelMeg~ The food court food was pretty good. I would eat there agian,i just wish I could've tried Shutters. Have Fun!

In the food court, at 5 p.m. until I think 10 p.m., Bridgetown Broiler has some pretty good food. A few years ago they had a BBQ chicken/rib combo that came with 2 sides and it was really very good and I think around $9.50. My DH and I shared it, they give alot of food. In fact back then Q&C meal vouchers were $10 so we used one on that and got a piece of choclate cake ($3.99) and a large pop (at least $2) with it.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I have eaten at other food courts both value and moderate and had no problem with the food. This is my 1st time at CBR and wasn't sure about the food. Thanks again for the information. 1 month 3 days to go!
