Just got back from a great trip to BWV last night. had a great time. We stayed the first night in a BW view studio (room wasn't ready until almost 5 and then when we got to it it hadn't been cleaned yet.) (A little annoying after dragging our luggage up. I called the front desk who connected me to housekeeping. They said the reason the room wasn't cleaned was because we left the privacy sign up. Excuse me we are just checking in!) I went back down to the front desk and was given another room right away. A CM walked up with me to make sure it was all set. Great room, nice view. We checked into our 1 brm at 8:30am on Sunday morning. Once again we didn't get our room assignment until after 4pm. Not a big deal but I guess I have been lucky because I have always gotten rooms at SSR, OKW and even VWL way earlier. We had the last room on the end of the hall up near the Swan. Very quiet but loooong walk!! We did have a wonderful trip. Bus and boat waits were usually 5-10 mins. We went over to SSR to see the GV (our next trip 272 days away) and the BLT models. Loved both. I liked the BLT model in person way better than what I saw in pictures. We did the Welcome Home Wednesday thing at the Atlantic Dance hall. It was fun and we got DVC baseball hats. We got to preview the F&W festival on Thursday. Very good what we had. We had a wonderful time and loved the convenience of the BW location.

Glad you had a nice trip. we've experienced that long trip down the hallway, it seems eternal after a long day at the park. However, the view compensated for the long walk. We had a beautiful boardwalk view. We look forward to staying there again but we are trying to stay at every resort once. We will try OKW in December:thumbsup2 and hopefully AK in August.

Glad you had a great trip....thanks for posting:goodvibes

I wonder if the CM's that check you in know the housekeeping route.......to know which rooms are at the end of the list....It would actually be nice to know in advance....don't even think about it before 4.
Anyhow....looking forward to BWV in 12 days:cool1:
We should arrive at BWV around 10am....I'm hoping I have a room before 4.:goodvibes This is the 1st time I am actually going to a park(walking into epcot:thumbsup2)on my arrival day. I like to do a pool day but with DVC having later room readiness times.....I figured I would just re-jigger the plans;) Sorry for the run-on sentence:headache:

Glad you had such a nice trip-waiting til 4:00 for a room seems so long, doesn't it? Thanks for posting! :)

Was that a standard 1 bedroom at the end of the hall? We had that once, as a 2 bedroom and loved the view! We're staying in our first time Boardwalk view villa in November, and I'm looking forward to seeing what it's like!

No it was facing the Swan, we watched the friendship boats go up and down the canal. The view was actually quite nice. We loved the BW view we had in the studio the first night. I could have sat on that balcony all week!

Glad to hear you had a great trip. We love BWV. I really want to try out AKV, but I find myself longing for BWV.

Housekeeping should clear the room for occupancy. It should be activated when it is "ready". If the CM at check is unsure, by the notes, they should verify it's available.

a little off topic but are all the check in times at 4:00? is it just during busy times? when I arrive I like to do an early flight get check-in in early get situated and then to the pool or whatever but if 4pm is the norm will have to rethink flight times

I think you misunderstood.
Unacceptable that a room was given that was not clean.
I'm just wondering if the CM's actually have an idea when your room will be ready....ie after 1 or 2....instead of the blanket 4pm.

Last time I checked into BWV they asked me to check back after 1. I called
about 1:30 and it was ready. I just wondered if my CM knew that my room is service earlier due to it's pretty close proximity to everything. No long hallway walks.

Granted I have only been a few times but....
1st time SSR arrival 11am.....Room ready.

2nd....BCV ready at 3pm...with pushing....but my room was at the END of the HALL.

3rd...BWV....room ready at 1:30.

4th...OKW..room ready at 12.

I've been lucky.

Check in time is at 4 PM, but really that means that you shouldn't expect your room before 4 PM. Earlier in September I changed resorts, from VWL to AKV. Got there around noon and my studio was ready. Then I changed to BCV and the room was ready when I arrived at 1-2PM.

If your room isn't ready, you can use the facilities, including the pool and the fitness room/showers etc until your room is ready. You get your room key, the charge privileges can be activiated, and if you have the dining plan, it can begin then, even if your room isn't ready.

I have only had to WAIT until 4PM to get my room (or even just a bit later when the resorts were very busy) twice in about 25 check ins at DVC. I've arrived later than 4, but I'm not counting those times. I usually do not make view or location requests.

There isn't a "blanket" time. Most places will have housekeeping enter into the computer that a particular room or floor, is ready for occupancy. They may have an "idea" when a room will be ready by how long it takes to clean "x" number of rooms.

We always arrive early morning. We carry our swim suits in our carry on luggage. Its a day at the pool. I could care less about check in(after a few adult beverages) They put those bars way to close to the pool.

Thanks.. I know never to count on an early check-in but it"s just nice to know it's a possibility that you could get lucky.
