We are just back from our great trip to BWV!
We stayed in a standard studio from 1/4-1/7 (Friday-Monday)
We stayed in a BW View studio Monday evening and checked out Tuesday morning.
Room Locations:
For the standard reservation - we stayed in room 3085. I really like the location/setup of this room. The room was at the first curve on the standard side. That meant that it was fairly close to the elevators, but had a lovely lawn view. We could see cars in the parking lot but it was off in the distance and not obtrusive. It was a good compromise between view/and distance from elevators. It was a dedicated studio with the daybed. We lined our luggage up on the daybed and could get to everything easily.
For the BW View Room - We stayed in room 3007 (lockoff). (Crest of the Wave section) Wow! This may actually be the best view of any room in all of WDW. DH and I figured out that Samantha Brown probably stayed one room over and 2 floors up. As for the walk to the room, again wow, bring your lunch and throw bread crumbs. We were 4 doors from the end of the resort. We were next to some attic place above from Jellyrolls, but there was a private party going on in there. Does anybody know what that place is like?
Room Ready:
On Friday and Monday, we called at 1pm and 2:30 pm and the room was ready at 2:30 pm.
Cleanliness:
For the Standard View Room - It was overall pretty good except that the things that I did find were pretty gross. 1st item - We had a half bottle of Disney conditioner left on our counter with the rest of the toiletries. Eeewww! I know other people have stayed in the room before, but I don't want to use their stuff. There was also a plastic lid from a Bic pen laying on top of our bed when we arrived. (It looked like someone checked off the room and didn't put their pen back together.) No Biggie.
Later, I got a glass of ice water. As I finished it off, I noticed that the bottom wasn't clean. I told DH that he should have washed the glass out better after he drank his chocolate milk. He then said, I haven't used that glass. Double, Eeeewwww. Did I have to drink after that?
After saying that...the room was in very good shape. It wasn't dusty at all. It looked like it may have been renovated recently. Very nice room overall. My thinking is that their is a very good housekeeper that works this room, but that her sub set the room up for us. (I think they should take all of the glasses out of the studio on cleaning day and replace them with "new" cleaned in a central location glasses that they keep in their carts.
Our iron went out while we were in the room. It worked one night, but would not get warm the next morning. (That happens!) We called and had a new iron in the packaging within 5 minutes.
For the BW View room - It was very, very, clean and tidy. We had no issues what so ever. The balcony looked a little worn, but the Boardwalk rooms are in the process of being painted so it is being taken care of.
Overall, we were very pleased with our rooms. I didn't complain about the small incidental problems. The conditioner was no big deal to throw away, and well the glass could have easily been overlooked. The maids really have a lot to do in what I'm sure is a very short period of time. Like I said, there should be a process in place for the glasses that assures that they are clean.
Maintenance:
No issues, either room.
Transportation: The transportation was very quick and prompt for the entire stay. Of course, we timed getting to our stops poorly a few times, but still only waited 10 minutes at the most. We mostly waited 1 to 2 minutes for transportation. Not bad.
Magical Express: No Issues. This is a really great service.
Bell Services: Very, very good.
Dining - There have been lots of improvements in dining since our last trip in April. Food Highlights: We had dinner at Biergarten, Crystal Palace, and Illuminations Grand Gathering, Breakfast at Kona and Cape May, and lunch at the Plaza in MK. They all met expectations, and the food/show at Biergarten was fantastic. I now love Tonga Toast at Kona. Biergarten was our best dining experience overall.
Special:
The Illuminations viewing spot for the Illuminations GG is magnificent! DH and I have always loved viewing Illuminations from the UK, but the terrace behind the gift shop at the entrance of WS is unbelievable. We never realized that there was a front to Illuminations. We are spoiled now!
The ice on the castle is unbelievable. Pictures don't do this justice. Wishes was beautiful.
Crowds: Starting Saturday, the parks weren't crowded - except during MK EMH.
New Strategy - On EMH night in a park, make rope drop. The MK was empty that morning and crowded during EMH.
CRV - Construction is moving right along. It was foggy, so no pics, it looked like they were starting the 7th floor. As the parks were closing one night, a CM came up and started talking to us and stated that CRV was a fact. We then figured out they were saying that it made sense to them, and that they probably read the DIS, so no major announcement here.
I'll be glad to answer any questions.
