I made my ressies just this past December for 6 nights at BWV, preferred view. I booked four nights on points and two nights on cash discount basis, due to the fact that those particular nights were not available with points. During my stay, I was able to switch my cash discounted nights from the DVC discount to the AP discount which had just recently come available, thus saving approximately $300 on the two nights!

I was very much surprised to have a beautiful boardwalk view since I had reserved only a little over two months in advance. Although it was quite a walk from the elevators, we discovered a backdoor that we could exit and even enter using our room keys. This saved some time when returning from the Studios and from the Dolphin.

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time. Sounds as though the 7 month priority worked well for you this trip. I'm surprised they even had the DVC discounts available- and even more that the AP was available!

Now...back to work! :D

We had a Boardwalk view on our last stay at BWV in November/December, it was such a great surprise, as we hadn't requested it in advance. We were right over the store entrance. It was a bit noisy when the boats sounded their horns, and ESPN got a bit rowdy, but we just loved that great scene!

I hope you had a wonderful time. :)

So glad to hear you had a terrific trip!

If you don't mind sharing, what was the AP rate? I'm just curious for comparing what kind of deals are available.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. We love the BW, it hardly matters to me what we have view, but I do admit that it is sometimes fun to sit on your balcony and watch the shows and people below.
I find it very interesting that I am reading about so many more AP rates that are coming out. In the last few years they have become extremely rare. People who had always gotten them, just weren't able to find tham anymore.
I wonder what is going on, has occupancy dropped or have less people renewed AP's because of the ridiculous change in renewal policy? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

It was around $254 per nite including tax for the 1 bedroom versus $360 per nite without tax for a DVC member discount. I saved around $300. :)

What is an "AP" rate? Is it similiar to the Disney Club? I only thought there were DVC rates adn DC rates...now more? How many more? Thanks.

We requested a Boardwalk room for our July ressies. I hope it pans out. We are hoping to take my stepson this trip and boy would that be a great trip for him?

Thanks

AP stands for Annual Pass. If you purchase an AP (not a bad idea for lots of DVC'ers) they offer discount specials from time to time. Often, they are very good like the one CarolAnn got.

A good idea w/ ap's is to scedule trips 51 weeks apart. Or you can just buy 1 for the discounts.

If you walked to the end of the boardwalk, just past Jelly Rolls, before Atlantic Dance, and stay to the left, you will see a small garden area on your left. Walk the path all the way to the end of the Building. Up a couple of steps and there is a door where you can use your BWV room key to enter. You will have to take the stairs, but it is better than walking the entire length of the building to enter! :)

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. We have always booked preferred view, (requesting Boardwalk view) and have always had the pleasure of opening my balcony door and saying good morning to a giant clown! Then, last May we were there and we didn't want to leave  (so what's new). We called MS from the Boardwalk on our cell phone and asked for anything they had. When we walked into our room BAM! we had a Boardwalk view, not too far from the elevators, and with a youth bed! :D
