Just back from BWV & a question

That's very interesting about those rooms being standard view. When we were there in February, we were directly over the DVC rooms R and S and this was a preferred room. I was not really happy with it, as it was quite a hike from the elevators and we had requested non-smoking, near elevators. They said there was nothing near the elevators. We were 2 rooms away from the stairway that led to the path to MGM and Swan & Dolphin, so it certainly sounds like it was the same area.

I wonder if they've temporarily reassigned some rooms from preferred to standard due to the renovations? It seems easier to just upgrade people, but perhaps this is the answer. Or, is it possible they've reassigned some permanently? Maybe those that people complained about spending preferred points on? I don't know how this would work with writing contracts and such, or if DVC can adjust the number of standard/preferred if they want to without some sort of formal change. Seems to me if this is the case it's a good thing. More standard views for those who want them and fewer complaints from those spending preferred points for a less-than-preferred view.

Just to further clarify the area, from the inside we took the elevator to the fourth floor, hiked down the hall, past the sitting area outside one of the GVs, took the right fork down another hall, then to the far end where you can only turn left. Just ahead is a window and a dead end, then another, shorter hallway to the right. Our rooms were the first two doors on the left there.

Sounds like a great area to request. You must have been right on the border of standard and prefered.

'2027 1 Bdr - P D view - overlooks canal and the bridge to Swan and Dolphin" So obviously not far down the hall is preferred.

We are going to BWV in 5 days, and all of us are in 3 standard view studios. What do you think of the chances of us getting "bumped" up to an upgrade, either prefered view or something else? We have 3 families and all standard view?\
Think they are still working on them?

I would think your chances are pretty good for an upgrade. Almost all of the villas on the driveway side are covered still, right up to the neat little corner balcony units. That leaves very few standard views available at the moment.

I almost forgot! I nabbed the map everyone is wanting to see with the room number sections on it. I just need to scan it in and then will post a link!
