I had the most amazing five day stay at WDW this past week.

We started out at BWI for our first night. I asked the CM at check-in if there was a room with a fireworks view and she worked hard to find me one. We ended up with room 5296 and the view was AMAZING! It overlooked the garden courtyard area and we could see spaceship earth, the Eiffel tower, and the Morrocan tower clearly. We got in just in time to watch illuminations and we had a perfect view of the high and low fireworks. We could even see the globe floating across the lake!!!! The room was spotless and very comfortable. We checked in at night and checked out in the morning so we didn't have a chance to use the pool. I was sad to leave...

Untill I checked in at the Dolphin and was told I got an upgrade! The room was ready by 10:00AM and my jaw dropped when I walked in. The view was even better!!! We had a balcony and once again overlooked spaceship earth and the Eiffel tower. We also had a beautiful view of the BC and BW. I watched Illuminations from the balcony for the next two nights. I figure I'll probably never get another fireworks view again so I better take advantage :D. I found the pools to be a bit cold but the hot tubs were great, and it was always easy to find a lounge chair. Housekeeping was great and the heavenly bed was sooooo comfortable :cloud9:. I ate at Tubbies a few times and the service and food were great.

The whole Epcot area was packed with conventions but it didn't effect our vacation or the level of service we received. I was worried when we flew down and there were no kids on the plane to Orlando  but the crowds were mixed at both resorts. There were plenty of families and young couples too. Anyways, this was agreat vacation and if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask :D

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Dolphin! Your balcony room sounds fantastic. Looks like there is still plenty of pixie dust at the S/D! Welcome back!

Thanks for taking the time to post a review of your experiences at these two wonderful resorts!~I've also stayed in both of them, and enjoy the different accomodations, views, etc. I'm so glad you received MAGIC & PIXIE DUST at BOTH resorts! You must have felt as if you WON the LOTTERY!! I LOVE that feeling, especially the excitement you feel as you approach your room/door, and place the key in the lock...and OPEN the DOOR!! If it's more than what you expect, it can almost knock the wind right out of you. ::yes::

I can hardly wait to return to the WORLD. Thanks again...for the memories. :goodvibes

Was there any rehab construction at the Boardwalk??
We will be there in early February!!

Glad to hear you had a great time and experienced the MAGIC!

I didn't notice any construction at the BW. There was a lot being done at the YC though but I guess that wouldn't effect you :D

I hope you have a great time! The Boardwalk is an amazing place to stay :flower1:

Glad you had a great time. I can't wait for our first time at the Dolphin in March. Are the renovations done in the entire hotel?:wave2:

I hope you have a great time Shortcake_smurf (heh, great name!). I think all the rooms are done but not the hallways. This summer I stayed on the 9th floor and the hallway was shiney and new. This time on the 4th floor it looked like a parade of elephants had been through there. I hope all the hallways will be done soon!

DH just decided yesterday that we should take kids to WDW for Christmas. Oh darn. Guess who has the entire thing booked already?

OK - we got a really good deal at the Dolphin, somewhere we have never stayed.

Since we are booked through a package, I don't know if any requests would even be honored, but I guess you can only ask. We will be arriving on a Monday at about 11:30 a.m., so hopefully we can get a good room.

What should I ask for? A refurbished room? Fireworks view, or what other views are available?

Anything special we should look for, a hidden gem?

I am sure I will think of more things later and hope you'll be around for the help.

Thanks!

Hi Disneyeveryyear :wave2:

There are some people on here that know a lot more about the dolphin but I'd be happy to help if I can. I was nervous the first time I stayed there but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The bed was soooo comfortable, I liked the way the room was decorated, and the grounds are lovely. My favourite hidden gem are the hammocks on the beach. I loved lying there in the morning and listening to the sound of the waterfall. It's a wonderful way to relax after spending a day at the parks.

If you haven't joined the starwood preffered guest club yet, you should do it soon. Then look up your reservation on the website and ask for an upgrade :D. I do that with every reservation and its worked a few times. I was planning on asking for a fireworks view when I checked in but it was already assigned to me. I always book a standard view but I've gotten rooms that look onto the pool or the lake. Now that most of the rooms are renovated, I don't ask for a renovated room anymore.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask :D.

Hi Princess Pooh! I have signed up for starwood preferred guest now where do I look up my reservation. I have already told my DU agent my spg number, is that enough? Thanks:wave:

Glad you enjoyed both resorts. We stayed in a room at BWI that was just a few doors down from yours this past summer. I enjoyed that view more than the Boardwalk/water view!:D

I also preffered it to the water view and it was a lot cheaper too!

Shortcake_smurf go to spg.com and click on "check reservations" (or something like that). It should list any reservations you have right now. There's something you can click on to see the details of your reservation and from there you can add on any requests you might have. If that doesn't work you can also make room requests on the swan/dolphin website. I hope you get a great room :D

Sounds like a wonderful trip with great views! Thank you for sharing! :)
