Well, we just returned from our 1st trip to Boardwalk and Vero Beach ! :)

Boardwalk
We really loved the resort and how close it was to Epcot and MGM. The bakery was wonderful and we had breakfast there every morning. YUM !!!
The pool was really crowded but it was so hot so I think everyone was trying to stay cool. I had non-alcoholic Lava Smoothies by the pool daily. These were great !!!

Vero Beach
I can't say enough about this resort - I loved it !!!!
We had an Ocean View room - 2327 with a fantastic view. My grandson made a tee shirt , did archery and attended the campfire. We ate at Capt. Hiram's and it was great - thanks to everyone for letting me know about this place.
The only negative was the noseeums - I have about 75 bites on my legs and arms. The bites are driving me crazy because they are itching so much. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent these bugs from biting when I go back next summer ? I used "Off" but it did not help at all. The resort was fantastic and I will be going back next year.

Let me know if you have any questions.

We just got back Sunday from OKW & Vero. I'm still itching from noseeum bites too! It was worth it though, we loved that resort!

I must be lucky. I go to VB every year (usually July) and have yet to have an issue with the no-seeums. I did hear that rubbing vinegar on the bites will relieve the itching though. As for prevention I have heard very good things about Avons Skin-So-Soft. The no-seeums are known to be at their worst at dusk and dawn in temps above seventy degrees.

you enjoyed your stay .We have been here from July 8th and areloving every minute of it

I was born and bred in Florida and DEET does NOT work on No See Ums! If you use a brand of bug spray with only DEET as the active ingredient, it will keep away the mosquitoes but not the No See Ums. You have to find a spray that contains a different active ingredient or a combination of ingredients. These sprays will be labeled to be effective against No See Ums. Cutter Advanced works - and I've heard there are herbal formulas as well. I think the Deep Woods version of Off might have more than one active ingredient - but the Skintastic stuff won't work on No See Ums in Florida!

I am glad you enjoyed your trip to BWV and VB. Im doing the same trip in 16 days!!!! :cool1:

Hmmm..I guess that explains why the Wal-Mart Supercenter near VB had all those HUGE displays of Cutter Advanced! I wondered why there was SO much of it everywhere. Usually, it's the OFF you see. Now I know why we didn't see it.

We were really fortunate when we were at VB in early June. We didn't use anything (bad, I know!) but not a bug bite on any of us...and that includes the Turtle Walk. Talk about pixiedust! pixiedust:

Bullfrog has a combo sunblock/bug repellent that is DEET free. I wonder if it would work for No See Ums as well? DS used it at camp this year.

We have spent many a trips on the beach in Florida. I seem to attract those no-see-ums! The best stuff we have found is catus juice. Here's a link to their website:

It's not greasy and it does smell good. The trick is that you HAVE to put the stuff on before you even think about going to the beach. Do NOT wait until you get a bite - you will soon have many more. Rub the stuff all over your body - even under your clothes. Those little biters will go up your clothes to bite you!

For the itch, the best thing I have found is Lanacane. You might also try an antihistime tablet.

Thanks for the link ! I have never heard of Cactus Juice but next year I plan on bringing some plus a bottle of Cutter Advanced.
