My opinions here...
Well, all the negatives I've read were true in my case. Checked in at 330 to room studio 363, street/canal view. The room smelled old. Like musty, Motel 6 . The carpet had snags everywhere, the towel rack near vanity was broke. The central air unit was broke for a few hours. The best? When we checked in, there was little shaved hairs on floor that were up against tub. Looked like they were swept or mopped there because they were in a straight line. I brought my own cleaning wipes and took care of that. Everything else, was just really bad wear and tear. Bad. I know that this property unfairly has been skipped for renovation. Not fair to the owners. It really was bad:( Not enough to ruin my stay. All issues reported. We chose here due to pool and location due to most of our ADR in Epcot.
The good? The pool AMAZING. Beautiful, fun, clean
Hurricane Hannah was excellent lunch items. The employees were warm, helpful, and answered any questions thru out the property with a smile. The location was just perfect. I would love to go back only after reno. It was priceless avoiding busses going to from HS and EPCOT. I thought the grounds were gorgeous. Loved the dunes, so pretty. The quiet pools were on fact, quiet.
I just wanted to let upcoming members know that the rooms and hallways desperately need attention. I know unless you live under a rock, y'all know the missed reno. But, I was hoping for a fresh and clean room with everything in working order. Any questions, shoot ! :)

It isn't just the owners who are getting screwed, it's anyone who stays there. Why not send an email to Iger and invite him to spend a couple of nights in your room?

Pictures? I Really want to see how run down the rooms are. You should send them along to member services. BTW, they are not being by-passed. BWV is behind schedule (and it is much older that BCV) and BCV is next in line. Although others will tell you that they heard a CM tell another CM that they heard from someone in facilities that BCV is not being renovated for another 5 years.

That musty smell....I think it is the "perfume" of Orlando. I recently stayed in a timeshare offsite...yuck on that recycled air smell. And never once have I seen a gecko in any of my DVC rooms....but I had two in this other place...they loved to skitter up the wall at the most inopportune times. We stayed at BCV maybe 10 years ago and I asked for a dehumidifier to be brought to the room.

Nah- never ever smelled musty like this did. Like I said, I did alert them to conditions and did complete survey. Never in all our DVC or WDW resort stays was it as musty and run down. Maybe from air unit not in working order ? Screenshot_2015-09-16-21-20-39.png

Member Services doesn't deal with resort or room issues. Member Satisfaction makes a note of the issue but that's about it. Lets face facts, Disney knows the condition of the rooms but chooses not to make things right for reasons only they know.

BWV received a refurb way back in 2009 or 2010. What is going on now is the second one.

Personally I had similar type rooms at BC a few years ago. The first one I walked into was musty smelling. That happens in humid climates when you set air to turn off when the room is not used. As I kept finding cleaning issues everywhere I turned I decided I needed to ask for a move. I was moved to a room that at least didn't have the musty smell and appeared to have been cleaned but it was the worst condition room I've ever had at WDW. I've begun wondering about the resort management since that stay.

Given the money/budget I can't believe that resort management wants to have rooms that need maintenance/updating. It's more about Disney making profit and not using the money where they should.

With DVC it's a bit different since the maintenance/updating is dues funded.

About that hair in the bathroom.....I would have called housekeeping immediately and have someone clean it. Been there, done that. One time I actually grabbed a supervisor or manager in the hallway at one resort and brought them into the bathroom....someone must have used it after cleaning, because there was definite "sprinkle" on the floor right in front of the toilet.

I have a towel ring like that in my own bathroom...that thing is always coming loose.

I just read a trip report from someone's recent BCV stay, along with some wonderful photos. The studio looked great. I guess you drew the short straw this trip.

I have never smelled and/or seen mildew at any DVC until my stay at BCV (as I said, many years ago). There were spores on the ventilation slats in the bathroom.

BWV did not get a big renovation....stoves were replaced (those electric coil stoves were awful) and TV's were replaced. Most furniture stayed or was reupholstered or painted. No flooring or carpet was changed in the room at that time either. I recently stayed in a one B.R. that looked exactly like the first room we ever stayed in 18 years ago. This renovation is different....tiles are being replaced, the shower stalls are being changed, laminate flooring is replacing carpet.

That's not correct. Carpet and curtains was replaced in the BWV renovation in 2009/2010, along with painting. There was a big change.

I saved this thread from 2009:

I don't understand why BCV keeps being delayed. If I owned there, I would be complaining about where my dues money is going.

Maybe some....but not all. As I said, I've been in rooms there that look exactly the same. A lot of repainting of tables and stuff happened. The carpets in the rooms I've been in look the same (I'm not talking about the hallways). If I was so inclined I would dig out my pictures from my albums, but I'm not so inclined. I need to get some things done around here!!

It was a more extensive refurb than that - about as extensive as they were getting on their "full" refurbs. As Debbie mentioned they did receive new appliances, new carpet, everything was painted, some furniture was changed and I'm fairly certain the kitchen counter tops were changed as well but didn't look back at the link on the refurb. It's also when they got the teacup lamps. :) What didn't happen was any tile being replaced at BWV at that time but they didn't do that at OKW either. And I have stayed there quite a bit and all the rooms have been redone that I've been in. BCV has had soft goods refurb and some furniture to accommodate new flat screens but that is it as far as I recall.

Ok - haha - opened the link and of course was IMMEDIATELY reminded of the hallways. Thanks for the flashback @DebbieB!

The reason I question the resort management there is because it really has had the worst conditions I've run across at WDW. If it was simply deferring maintenance for Disney to have more profit then it would show up at all resorts - which I realize do receive complaints but I'm just going by my personal experience. My stay in the BC room(s) was not too long after a very well received refurb. I agreed the refurb was nice but it was not being properly maintained IMO.

BWV has obviously had a big enough refurb to warrant a double page spread of the lovely new look in the latest edition of Disney Files!! Rubbing more salt in to the wounds of us BCV owners and people who will be staying there!

I didn't call housekeeping on the hairs... it was 115 am after dropping our bags and then off to parks all night. The kids were dead tired and I never leave home for vacation without Lysol wipes. There were tons of chips in paint, scratches on tables, stains all over sofa but I truly expected that. My major issue was the air unit not functioning, the terrible musty smell ( never experienced that anywhere on WDW property) the broken towel ring, the drawer that would not close, and the Crack in mirror . I did know that refurbished rooms were not happening this trip for us- but the DVC room experience and expectations were not met and I would not stay at BCV again until reno complete. I'm happy that some rooms in recent posts were not bad... mine was bad. And definitely not what I expect when staying in a DVC studio.

Ugg...I'm going to change my gals trip to anywhere I can. I really wanted SAB for F&G, but I do not want those issues.

The room carpet prior to the 2009 renovation was solid green, the carpet after had a pattern in it. Walls were painted, curtains changed, TV and stand changed.

Bobbi...someone just posted a trip report from a trip this summer to BCV. Her room was nothing like the one described above (and to be perfectly honest, except for the hair by the tub, I don't think the room looked as trashy as one was led to believe, but that is my own opinion...some people think DVC rooms should look like they just had their grand opening). But if you are staying in a studio and want to change, I just stayed in a DVC studio at AKL/Jambo and it was huge!! A little too dark for my liking, but we had a wonderful view of the pool. The walk from the lobby can be daunting, though, not as convenient as Kidani with the elevators everywhere.

The room carpet prior to the 2009 renovation was solid green, the carpet after had a pattern in it. Walls were painted, curtains changed, TV and stand changed.

Thanks again for that DebbieB. Are these your own personal photo's? I need to find my older photo albums. The room we had in the spring looked exactly like the room we had on our very first trip.

Can't say anything truthful if it's DVC negative on this board... I gave an honest assessment and would like BCV owners and future guests know the condition in which my villa was in.
I guess that you missed in my post where I said that I knew that the rooms were not going to be refurbished- wasn't expect a Grand Opening . Also, the hairs are a mouse keeping issue- not DVC. I don't think that a DVC room, or a value resort room, should smell musty, have broken drawers , broken heating and cooling units, and juice stains all over couches . Forget the snagged carpet, scratched tables, cracked mirror. You would be ok with the room I was describing ? Unfortunately, the only 2 pictures my daughter didn't delete were the hair and the towel ring. But it shouldn't matter if the room I'm describing is at All Star Music or Beach Club Villas- the condition is unacceptable. That villa was not in "working order" . I was there labor day week and resort was full. Nothing I stated was "opinion". It was actually facts of my rooms condition.

Sorry screwed up this reply in the quote! !!!
