Just back from 3 nights at BCV. CM at check-in was cool, but very efficient. Unfortunately, no "welcome home". Oddly, my packet of info invited me to consider joining DVC, and she asked how many keys I wanted for the 4 of us. But I was solo!!! Fortunately after that questionable beginning, things improved dramatically. Got to my room #339, dedicated studio, and I LOVED it. Ran around looking for something wrong-this can't be completely perfect-Aha, there's a burnt out light bulb in the vanity area! Sat on my balcony listening to the "Zip-a-Dee-Do-Da Tip for Today" about a zillion times. It was so quiet, except for the pretty music filtering over from Epcot. There was a CM Only room to my right and then a corner, so there was no balcony to my right. Went to Beaches and Cream one day for a No Way Jose Sundae. Take it to go-the rock music in there is so loud and the porch in front of the Beach Club is so nice, watching the Boardwalk and the boats traveling around the lagoon. Tip from a CM-best time for B & C is late afternoon-forget after Illuminations. She said people run over to there!
Yes, I adored BCV and would be happy to answer questions. Oh-no sign of the alligator.
BTW, anyone know how to erase this countdown timer since I'm back?

Thanks for the report! Glad your stay was a good one.

The friendly folks at Technical Support will be happy to help exterminate that pesky countdown timer! ;)

To remove the timer. Go into your profile page and where you pasted the timer program (Signature Section) - just erase/delete it and then click on the "Submit Modifications" button. Hope this helps.

I've never heard of the "CM only room." What is different about that room? Is it reserved for cast members only?

That is often where they keep extra mousekeeping suplies..

Glad you had a great trip!

Yes, exactly, and one night the door was open so I peeked in. It was a cement floor with various mechanics (like plumbing, air conditioning, etc.)

Thanks for the report. I'll be there Sunday-my first time at BCV! I'm so excited!!

Glad you had a great time! As you can see, we will be there in a few short weeks! We are in a studio and requested to be near the pool since our children (DSs almost 13 and 14) are part fish and do not care how cold it is outside! ;)

Where was your studio located? How did you get to most parks? Did you walk over to MGM? If so, was it lighted and how long did it take??

If you think of anything we should not miss and what 2 teenagers would love at BCV, please let us know!

Karen

KarenB, the studio was on the third floor. Probably not as convenient to the pool as others. However, I did walk over to Stormalong Bay (enroute to Beaches and Cream). Your DS's will love that! I have a feeling that will be the #1 part of their trip (I have 2 DS's, a little older-can imagine). Also, the arcade is right next to that pool. I walked to both Epcot and MGM, took buses to the others. MGM is about 1/2 hour scenic stroll (much quicker if you're just walking there, but I strolled and viewed the scenery). It's very well lit-that I noticed since I was solo and not sure about the walk beforehand. I honestly wonder if the boat would have been just as fast and more comfortable on the feet, but I wanted to burn a few calories to justify my trips to Beaches and Cream and to Ghiardelli's. Epcot is a very short walk, about 5 minutes, and I went by way of the lobby-there's no doubt even a slightly quicker way somewhere, but I really liked the scenery going out the front lobby.

Karen B - My DH and I just returned from BCV on 11/15 and we were in a dedicated studio #131 that looked out onto the woods area between BCV and Epcot/BC. It was very convenient to the pool--only about 5 doors down from the rotunda which opens onto the Breezeway and out to the quiet pool or to the doors leading to the BC.

Your sons will love SAB with the sand bottom, currents and great slide!!! Our DD now 17 thinks the BC is the greatest! Your boys will love the arcade and Beaches & Cream which has delicious ice cream as well as hamburgers and onion rings. DVC members can also check out free tennis equipment. The courts are on the Yacht Club side. Volleyball equipment is also free to DVC members. Sand volleyball court is on the BC side. Or they can rent a water mouse-small boats that seat one or two. We didn't rent any this time but they looked very new. You're also within walking distance to Fantasia Gardens, a mini-golf course. Its just on the other side of the Dolphin. The Boardwalk is also just a short distance away with its carnival type games and entertainment. We saw a lady doing rope tricks and a juggler one evening. If your boys like sports, they might enjoy ESPN Club which is at the BW too and it also has some arcade games. Surrey bikes can be rented at the BW and you can ride all the way around Crescent Lake. There are so many fun things to see and do at and near the BC. I'm sure your boys and you will love it!!!!!

Simba's mom and Donna.....thanks for the information. We are arriving at BCV midmorning on a Saturday and leaving that day park free so we (especially DSs) can explore and enjoy the resort. DSs have always wanted to stay on the boardwalk, and I think this will be a wonderful time to try it out!

The one nice thing about the parks closing fairly early is that it gives you time to really enjoy where you are staying!

OUr countdown clock is moving fast!!!!

Simba's Mom, how was the weather. We are flying down 12/7 from Chicago where it's very cold now, and we are hoping for lots of sunshine!!

IMHO, the weather was absolutely perfect for park touring. Mid-70's every day, rarely a cloud, virtually no wind. Although I wore long pants every day and personally thought it was a little cool for swimming, the climate I'm used to is MUCH different from Chicago (according to DH, who grew up in Lake Forest area). About half the people there wore shorts and there were lots of people swimming. And if I were still used to the climate where I used to live, Massachusetts, it would definitely have felt like swimming weather-and I'll bet it will to you. I didn't think the temperatures dropped off very much when the sun went down. Although it was dark by 6:00, I usually wore short sleeves til after 8:00 before I put on my light jacket. Have fun!

We just got back also from DVC, I plan on posting about it some time today.

However, we saw the alligators (2) and the snapping turles many times :)

Where were the alligators, exactly? I'd heard they were in the canal, and I looked every day, hoping to see them (even though we have lots of alligators around here, I've never seen one at WDW).
