I got home late last night from a wonderful week at BCV. That in spite of the fact that they've discontinued the pistachio flavor of gelato. I guess I was the only fan! Anyways, I stayed on the 5th floor for the first time, studio #549. Nice location, I love the woods view, and I liked the stairs nearby. I could hear Illuminations, but I was hoping I could see it, which I couldn't. However, there was a nice view of several WS buildings and a peek of the IG entrance. The refrigerator froze everything no matter what I did. The room temperature was always fine, never too warm. The only problem with the 5th floor rooms is I had an outside light that stayed on all night, and I couldn't completely block it out with the curtains. Otherwise, great stay! That "smell" is still there when you walk into the villas-what is that, furniture polish? I got to see Art the last day and wished him a happy upcoming wedding anniversary (not until June). Oh-and the sofa beds didn't seem to be different yet. Any questions, I'd be happy to try to answer.

I just remembered one other thing that may be of interest to some-there were coffee cups for sale in the same pattern as our gilcee print. However, the last day they were gone. The CM I spoke with said that they sell so fast, buy when you see one. Otherwise, try SSR or OKW-they seem to get more at those resorts, for some reason. Oh, well-a reason I HAVE to go back in April.

As I promised, here are some pictures. I thought the towel bouquet that greeted me was really cute:

And these are 2 views from my studio:

I just got back from a 4 night solo trip at BCV. Had a great studio, 231. Could see some of the fire works. Old sofa yet from what I could see. Great bed, but hate those flat sheets on the bottom. This was my first trip as a DVC member so was not sure how I would like the no maid cleaning, do like those new sheets and bed made each day, but found I can live with out that bennie. Room was in very good shape, clean and everything worked. I have a very good nose for smells and found that all the smells were in my exceptable range. This drives my husband crazy.

Did notice the hall carpet looked like it could do with a good cleaning and was starting to fade but seem a very little thing in the long run.

I purchased BVC site unseen so was very happy with my purchase. Hope to get there is summer with more family and check out the larger units.

OK you 2, tell us about the new mattresses. Did you both have the new pillowtops in your units?

We came back from SSR on 01/10/07 and did not see the gilcee mugs the whole time we were there. So if you see them and like them, buy them.

I had the pillow top mattress very comfy. I got to check it out a couple of times when I pulled the sheets off in my sleep. Think I am going to try and find room in my suitcase for some fitted sheets next time.

I never saw mousekeeping but I wanted to ask about the changing of the blankets and spreads. Sure hope it is true they do change every time but I wonder about that because of the fade and wear factor.

Sorry I missed you again, Simba's Mom, but glad you had a nice stay. Too bad about the fridge though and especially your gelato.

We did not have a pillowtop mattress in our master BR but it was quite comfortable anyway.

thanks for the headsup - I'll be sure to also wish him a happy (June) wedding anniversary when Im there in April. do you know how long he's been married?

Actually, his marriage is almost exactly as old as the BCV. He was married in June, 2002, so it'll be 5 years.

Thanks for the report!

For the record, you needed to be on the other side of the hall to see Illuminations, and even then it's a matter of "belly up to the railing and look 90 degrees to the right" to see the fireworks. That wing is just about perpendicular to Illuminations. But 548, 546, 544, etc have a GREAT view of SSE.

I think the outside light thing is standard for 5th floor rooms. Since your refrigerator froze everything, I guess all you could do is fill it with gelato... :teeth:

We were at SSR until Jan 5th and there were dozens of mugs. They must sell pretty fast. I'm not a coffee drinker so we didn't pick any up.

I love reading trip reports. Thanks. We meant to try the BC Marketplace when we were there, but never found the time. What kinds of items do they have? The only place to get a counter service lunch at the BW was the bakery. I don't know why we couldn't get a piece of pizza for $3.79, but we were told "only at the bakery."

Our kids in the studio at the BW said they didn't have a DVD player. I told them they could rent videos at Community Hall but they said they didn't have the DVD player. Is it something new? We usually stay in 1 BRs so I didn't really know if they should have had one or not.

Don't you just love Art? We also got to see him this trip. He epitomizes the Beach Club. He's always got a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.

Glad you had a great trip. Cute towel bouquet!

Hi Simba's Mom,
I really enjoyed your report and photos:thumbsup2

I finally took a picture of the boys with Art this trip.

We were at OKW over marathon weekend and there were several of the mugs each time we were in the store.

Thanks for the report and pictures Simba's Mom. Make sure to email the view pics to Diszip for his web page. That light on my balcony would really be a bother to me!

Judy, I purchased some snap things to go on the corner of the sheets when I was a Linen's and Things last. I haven't tryed them yet but those sheets coming undone really gets to me too! They are a set of short elastic strips with snaps on each end, sort of reminded me of garder belt snaps (not that I am that familiar with those! ) I going to give them a try next month to see if that solves my issues.

Simba's Mom, Glad you had a great trip! Did they replace the pistachio gelato with another flavor?

Lisa, That sounds like something good to try with the sheets. I hate it too when they come loose. I might try to go by Linens and Things before we leave in 3 weeks! Would have loved to have been there this weekend though as we got almost 3 inches of ice and sleet and now frigid temps.

Oh, no! DH and I love the pistachio flavor, too! Is the mango flavor still there? What new flavor did they add?
