Just got back yesterday from a week stay at BCV. We had a dedicated 2 bedroom, non smoking. The room had a very large balcony and a view of the quiet pool and the lagoon. The room was great. Had no problems with the A/C, or water pressure. Had a very brief run in with ants, however, pest control came up immediately and sprayed our balcony. Problem was solved and no more problems with the ants. (Pest control said they were not red ants, but carpenter ants.) Our room was at the very end of the hall, which was nice - not alot of traffic at our end of the hall, and the steps were right outside our door. No need to go all the way to the other end of the hall to the elevator. Very convenient for getting to the quiet pool.

My impression of the CMs at BCV is that they were pretty average. (except for pest control, who were extremely nice and accomodating).

Had originally asked for an Epcot view, but none of those rooms were available when we got there. Now that I look back, I'm glad we got the room we did. It was very quiet at all times of the day. And we got to see the alligator 4 times along with 4 sea turtles, right from our balcony.

We attended the Member BBQ on Tuesday July 1st. It was OK, nothing spectacular. Probably wouldn't go again the next time. My 2 DD liked the fact the Goofy and Donald were there.

Overall, we had an excellent vacation. Wish it could've been longer!:D

Hi, we were neighbors from 6/29-7/4. We were on one of the wings with a view of the Fairy Ring. Second floor also. Loved it except for the poor crying ignored infant at 5:45 each am!

Isn't it frustrating to post a positive report on this board and have it ignored. If we complained we'd have lots of reponses with most down our throats:confused: . Don't understand this board yet. Very different from the others I frequent. I posted about our stay yesterday and had one response.

Anyway, glad you had a great stay too. Welcome home!

Are there other DVC Boards more active? More friendly? More informative? Glad that original poster had a good time and that Ali is still there.

Glad to hear you had a great time! We just loved the whole Epcot area on our recent stay. How was the bus transportation from there? Did you enjoy SAB?

Oh, would someone send me a PM with a link to other DVC boards too!

I meant the other Disboards that I frequent...resorts, restaurants, transportation and sometimes disabilities.
I find this board VERY informative and I lurk often. But I've noticed that people complain about the lack of positive reports especially about BCV but the only threads that get responses are the negative ones. Of course that happens elsewhere too but not to the extent it seems to here. But I shouldn't have been whining last night...hate whining!:o I'll just continue to lurk when I visit this forum...I think that's the term I should have used.

Thanks for the report! We can't wait to try to BCV, but we aren't planning a trip there until Dec 2004. Thanks for sharing!!:p

We've been members for a relatively short time (1.5 years) but we've been home to BCV's 3 times already and we've not been disappointed on any of our visits. We find the BCV suits our needs very well and we've stayed in every type of room except a dedicated 2bdrm. Our last trip was in May and we had a great time.

We don't have the breadth or depth of time that many on these boards have with respect to their various DVC experiences so we have no basis to speak to the issue of whether CM's are average, above average, or below average. However, we have never had a problem with any of the CM's we've come in contact with at BCV.

This fall we will be staying at WLV for 5 nights in a studio and we are looking forward to the trip.

I am glad the original poster had a good time because posts like that continue to remind me how fortunate we are to be able to afford DVC.

By the way, "the glass is half full."

Glad to hear that you had a good time. Our kids really enjoyed being over the canel too, so they could see the alligator everyday. Can't wait to be home in 87 more days!

I'm making ressies soon for BWV next summer, but more and more I am thinking about BCV (especially with more positive posts -- keep 'em coming!)

Have you stayed in BWV, and if so, how would you rate the sapce, especially as compared to BWV in the dining area? I just don't feel comfy about that second hallway door at BWV just yet (my trio are 8,7, and 3, and the "3" is a Houdini escape artist as it is!!) When they are teens, I'll probably want to get that extra door, but not just yet!

Did you have the 2 queen beds?

Like you I probably would have asked for an Epcot view... do all Epcot views necessarily come with the street view / road noise? The pool / lagoon view seems quite nice! How long was the walk to SAB?

Sorry to be so full of ???... I'll probably have more in a few minutes. If nothing else, it will boost your positive review to the top of the boards!!

Thanks --

Cindy

We've stayed at BCV three times, and it's been great every time. Going for a fourth visit in a few weeks. I never have any comments about the CM's, because if all goes well, you just don't interact with them much. I filled out a survey for our last visit, and my only negative comment was that they needed someone that speaks good English to answer the Housekeeping phone. They kept bringing us the wrong item and having to go back (this happened twice, and once they had to go back four times!). Sorry if that sounds arrogant, but it was frustrating to have to wait in the room until housekeeping finally brought the right items, both times right before going to dinner. This didn't put a damper on our trip though, just a little delay. On a very positive note (and I commented on this too), things seem to be going much better in the gift shop. It was very busy in there when we visited in Aug. 2002, and the waits were long. They seem to have more staff now, and the CM's in there are very pleasant. Diana

Dancind... That is kind of funny, I have been to BCV 3 times as well now. All 3 times I had to call housekeeping for something or other and they promptly brought whatever it was without any problem. But, all 3 times the waits at the store were bad. Nothing to complain about, just a lot of people in there. There were 3 CM's running registers.

We were also there Jun 30- July 8- and had a Wonderful time....

We were on the 4th floor Epcot view non smoking 1 bdrm 471. This was the first time we made a request and it was non smoking, Epcot view, higher level floor.

We watched Illuminations several times from our balcony, never had a problem with the room temperture or ants. We were several sections down from the main elevators but loved it because it was very quiet. We never heard a peep from any of the rooms around us, even the studio that was right next to us. At first I didn't think anyone was there but after several days we saw HK cleaning it after they checked out.

Overall the room size was fine for us, DH, dd10 & dd17. We loved the kitchen and washer/dryer. I did think the closet was a little small but not that big of a deal. I did'nt realize the chest in the bdrm had a drawer under it until the last day. Oh well I guess we will use that next time.

I can't wait until our next visit...

Denise

I thought over all other than the 4th the pool, store, etc. was never that crowded.

CK1,
I have never stayed at BWV, so I cannot compare the space to BCV. We stayed in a 2 bedroom-dedicated and it was enough space for myself, DH and DDs ages 7 and 11. The second bedroom did not have 2 queen beds, but 1 queen and a sleeper sofa. My daughters would have preferred 2 queens, but they managed by taking turns sleeping in the queen bed. The only other DVC resort I have stayed in is OKW and the 2 bedroom there is very large. The living space at OKW is huge compared to BCV.

We originally asked for an Epcot view on a higher floor, but it was not available when we checked in. We were completely happy with our room overlooking the quiet pool and the lagoon. We were in the last room in that hallway and it felt as if we were the only ones there! It was that quiet. The walk to SAB and the gift shop were not bad at all.

The only other issue I forgot to mention in my original post was the transportation situation. BCV shares transportation with BWV, YC, Swan and Dophin. This made buses and Friendship boats extremely crowded, especially on EE mornings to AK, MK and MGM. My advice would be to get to the bus stops at 7:00am if you plan on going to EE. Even though the buses may not get there until around 7:30, the folks who don't get there until 7:30 end up at the back of the line and have to wait on another bus.

But overall, we had a WONDERFUL stay at BCV. I was a little nervous before we left because of so many negative reports. However, my fears were laid to rest when we got there. It's a beautiful resort with alot to do in walking distance. That is why I made it a point to post my positive report. So, put your fears to rest and just enjoy!!;)

CK1--I've stayed in a 1BR in both, and the BW is a little larger, but not by much. You don't really notice in the dining area, we found it most noticable in the bedroom and walk-in closet. Nothing to worry about though.

We were neighbors from June 26th - July 2nd. Room 205. I hate to say this, but I will never stay at BCV again. The room does seem smaller than BWV but that's not the reason why I wasn't happy with the resort. I had issues with housekeeping. I had requested cleaning service for our entire stay. The room was not cleaned on the 27th - I had to call twice and by that time it was so late that we got turn-down service. On the 28th we had the same problem - but we were told that they were too busy to come at all. On the 29th they came at 5:00 in the evening. On the 30th and July 1st the room was cleaned in the AM but the pull out sofa was left out as a bed. I did speak to Front desk managers and housekeeping managers along the way. Each of them insured me that they would fix the problem, however, not one of them ever contacted me to follow up.

In general, I had the feeling that the Cast Members from the Beach Club were annoyed with the DVC members. The bellman who brought our luggage up never said a word to us. I overheard them complaining on several occasions about people wanting to borrow carts and how much junk they had to bring up.

Also, Memeber Day was no big deal.

If the BCV gang was indeed complaining about folks bringing "so much stuff", then just wait 'til they get a load of us, by golly. When we stay, we have nothing short of a whole van-load and groceries to feed an army... now mind you, we DO tip nicely for the help getting our haul where it needs to be, but gee, they won't KNOW that unless they "whistle while they work" and help us out, now will they??;)

Unless there's a whole world of nasty no-tippers out there, I don't see why they don't view DVC folks as added OPPORTUNITY!
(ka-ching...)

Maybe they just had a beef with the "do-it-myselfers" (folks who don't want to pay a tip so they borrow carts to haul it themselves). Maybe they feel it's cuttin' into their turf... (plus, if everyone did that, then there would be no carts for desperate folks like us that rely on help with cash in hand!)

We've stayed at BCV twice and had great experiences both times. I love the resort and the bell services staff was great, telling jokes and asking about our plans and if we had any questions. On our last day, we left at 6:30 am, called down and requested 2 carts. We had done some SHOPPING! When we got down the valet and the car was brought around, there we 6-7 CM's looking in awe at the amount of stuff and then looking skeptically at our minivan. The bellman couldn't believe I could fit it all in and was teasing us...we had stroller, golf clubs, cooler, suitcases, shopping bags, MIL..... ect. Anyway, the staff was great and gave us a friendly send off and told us they'd see us next year, not that it made leaving any easier:(

We just got back from our BCV stay, 7/5-7/11, and had a great time. We were in a studio 540 with a wonderful Epcot and Illuminations view. Only problem we had was the air conditioner controller, but it was repaired within a couple of hours.

Really enjoyed the short walk to Epcot and rode Mission Space and watched Illuminations several times. Went to MGM to see Fantasmic and walked back after the show. Bus service to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom was good on some days and slower on others.

Kids loved Stormalong Bay.

I am becoming a believer of avoiding the early entry park because you get to sleep another hour and the other non-early entry parks seemed less crowded at 9:00, when we arrived.

Randy - you say you rode mission space. I was not aware that ride had opened yet. What did you think of it? Annmarie

Aloha!!

So glad you had a Tiggerific visit...we STILL have not stayed at our BCV! (Just returned from POLY as part of our DVC purchase deal). But...was wondering...

Do you also see the parking lot or entrance area when you have quiet pool/canal view?

Does it detract from view??

Is it noisy (those busses are LOUD!!!!) ??

Thanks for your great room report! :)

Mahalo!!
