Just back from BC, OKW and SSR

I love the Beach Club! We have stayed there about 15 times! I haven't been there in over two years - we are going on 9/29 for our anniversary - your pictures got me so excited!!:cool1: :cool1:

We too got moved from AKL to BC (we were there in mid-August). I read you We too had problems at check in (took us about 45 minutes!) and at check out. We kept getting charged full room rate. For some reason, no one could get it right (never mind they cancelled our rooms about a week prior but that's another issue).

Anywho, just wondering if alot of people moved from AKL had check-in issues.

Glad you enjoyed BC. We had a standard view room so our view was not as spectacular as yours!! My husband was not too impressed and said he would stay at AKL or WL over BC any day. Oh well, at least I got to stay there twice.

Please, please, please, send a letter (not email) to DVC with a copy to WDW Guest Communications sharing your experience at OKW. As a DVC member ourselves, you will be doing all of us a favor, particularly as a cash paying guest, by reporting all of the problems you experienced.

I was going to say the same thing. They only know about problems when they are made aware of them. You handled yourself amazingly and kept the Disney Spirit no matter what. Good for you:thumbsup2 I am so glad that SSR and its staff were able to change your mind. We also used to be commando-style but SSR and being DVC members has allowed us to slow down and smell the Disney roses:flower3:

Oh my, you've got me worried here. DH and I are taking my brother and his family to OKW for their very first Disney trip. I wanted a lot of room (2 bedroom villa) and a nice relaxing atmosphere to ease them into it. My little bro is liable to go ballistic if we get treated that badly on checkin.

Anyone else stay recently who had a more positve experience?

Please don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine. We've stayed at OKW twice and it was lovely. However, if you do experience any issues, make sure you promptly report them calmly and in person to the front desk, asking to speak with a manager if any issues aren't resolved promptly. Simply making a call from your room phone to the front desk, does not usually mean you are speaking to anyone at the Front Desk.

OKW is a beautiful and relaxing resort, as long as you know that, since it is entirely a DVC resort, there are some differences from the non-DVC Disney resorts. :)

You'll LOVE your two bedroom!!!! It's HUGE, as OKW has the biggest DVC rooms on property!

...beautiful and relaxing resort.....

That sounds perfect! Just what we're looking for. I figure with the hectic pace of the park this will be perfect for down time. Thanks for that.

I've stayed at POR, CRB, and the Dolphin many many times. First time for OKW and to tell you the truth, if it's as nice as I think it's going to be I'll probably be a DVC'r soon!

Here is a map of OKW. http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/okwmap.jpg.

Since OKW is set up like a neighborhood that is condo style, The Hospitality House section is where the Lobby/check in is and is closest to Olivia's, Goods To Go, Main Pool and the boats. You can also catch any bus from anywhere in the resort and you can be dropped off there as it's the first/last stop. It has the heaviest traffic however, so parking can sometimes be harder.

We've also stayed in the Turtle Pond section. It has a really nice pool area as well as the Turtle Shack for snacks.

I think you'll really enjoy it. Every time I walk in, I feel like I'm walking into a Jimmy Buffet song! ;)

I love your pics! I just wanted to share our experience this May at HH's. We decided to have a last minute bite there but was surprised to find it quite empty. Finding a "choice" seat was no problem so after about 10 minutes my DD, DS, DH and I are enjoying our burgers and ff. My daughter was in mid-sentence with her ff in front of her when suddenly a crow swoops down and grabs it out of her hand!! It was so quick that it took us a second for it to sink in! DD thought it was funny but we pointed out that is why people shouldn't feed the animals. Needless to say we were a little more guarded as we quickly finished our meal!
Sorry to hear about your OKW experience. We're DVC members (SSR our home resort) and plan to stay at OKW but we'll probably be back to SSR first. Welcome back!!!

Our check in issue had to do with the free photomovie dvd offered.

We had an absolute blast on our trip and our OKW issues were really just a tiny little blip on the radar. (Eventhough it took up so much of my post) I told the manager at OKW everything so I'm kind of hesitant to write a letter.
