Ok, so I have often had the feeling, “I can’t believe this is happening to me…” :sad2: But this time, I kept saying to myself, “I can’t believe this is happening to me!!!!” :cool1: To start at the beginning, I originally booked a bunk bed room at WL, and when the Visa codes came out, I called CRO and of course the first CM I spoke to said I could not use the code. So I called back, and the next CM said I could not use the code at WL, but I could get a standard room at BC for $400 less!! :thumbsup2 I debated for a moment because my boys are 4 and 6, and prefer the MK over everything else, and plus they loved the lodge last time. But in the end, I switched because I had always wanted to stay there, and never thought I would be able to afford it. For $400 less, the boys could bus it to MK, and enjoy SAB.
So, our flight lands at 10:30 pm on Friday night, and all goes well with ME and we arrive at BC at about 11:15. We looked like something the cat dragged in as we all had been up and on the go since 6 am, and I figured we would be getting a dumpster view since we were checking in so late. The lobby was very quiet, and there were two college intern girls at the check in desk. I gave one my name and the first thing she said was, “You have been complimentary upgraded to concierge level!” I was speechless. All I could manage to say was, “Wow. Thanks.” My husband didn’t even understand what that meant. She also handed me a long stem rose, special gold keys to the world, and buttons that said Happy Anniversary. Now, we went to WDW for our honeymoon, and our 5th anniversary, and got nothing special. It is just our 7th anniversary this year, and I don’t even remember letting anyone know. All of the concierge staff was gone for the night, so we did not get escorted to our room, and the lounge was closed.
Our room was 5635 and overlooked the back entrance to the lobby. We had a beautiful view of SB and the windmill. It was so beautiful at night. We had full balcony, but no daybed which was fine by us. We got towel animals every day, and turn down service with chocolate every night. The room was in excellent repair, and always impeccably clean. On the second night, we had a message from private dining on our phone. They had a delivery for us. It was champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate, and the plate was dusted in gold! I definitely felt like I was on somebody else’s vacation! Nothing like this has ever happened to me before!
I can’t say enough nice things about the BC, and will post more when I have time. But right now we are drowning in dirty laundry.:laundy: I will be happy to answer any questions.

WOW...I'm so happy for you! We'll be leaving in 2 weeks, and I'm hoping for a little pixie dust myself!!! Yesterday was our 4th anniversary...

Wow! How awesome for you. That is one major upgrade!

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! I am so happy to hear that it's GOOD news!!!! So many times thread titles like this mean a bad experience. I'm glad yours was the opposite :thumbsup2

Oh Southernswthrt1, are you as sad as I am this morning? I was hoping it was a bad dream, but our Tigers really did lose last night! I feel so bad for the seniors. I guess we couldn't expect another last-second miracle!

Congratulations on your upgrade, how special that it happened for your 7th anniversary. Can't wait to hear more about your special trip. BC is one of my favorite areas of WDW, hopefully I will be able to stay there one day.

Sounds like Disney really made this anniversary special for you. Glad you had a good trip.

Sometimes the Disney Magic finds you when you least expect it! :goodvibes

Congratulations! It sounds wonderful. :goodvibes

We used the pool every afternoon. Stormalong Bay was really cool, and my guys loved the slide. It is a long way to walk though from the pool to the slide. At first I was putting lot of miles on my already tired feet walking them to the slide and rushing back to the pool, but I decided after awhile to let them walk to the slide themselves as long as they stayed together. I set myself up right where the slide emptied into the pool. Both of my boys can swim well, but every day I saw the lifeguards have to jump in to get kids who went down the slide, but couldn’t swim. You can get free life jackets, and I had a hard time understanding why their parents weren’t there. I saw one mom with full hair and makeup in a matching suit and wrap ask the guard to go in after her child. I didn’t get it. :confused3 I thought the lifeguards did an awesome job. The pool area is huge, and they were constantly walking around checking every corner. The lazy river is very mild if you have tube, but it is deep and hard to swim against the current. I always went in with my guys, and by the end of the day there were many abandoned tubes. We got food from Hurricane Hannah’s once and it was pretty good, and my mom got us some mango strawberry margarita’s that were awesome. :drinking1 There was a girl going around taking orders, but we never used this service. She had a lot of ground to cover. If you wanted to get pool towels, you had to show your room cards, and that is when they issued wristbands. I never saw anyone check for wristbands though, and there are so many entrances to the pool area, I am not sure how they can police the area. My parents live in Florida, and they came to spend time with us, but I told them in advance they could not use the pool. My mom did sit with me though when we watched the boys go down the slide umpteen times, and we overheard people talking about someone they knew who had been banned from SAB.

Epcot was never my favorite park, but you can not beat the location of BC. It is literally less than a five minute walk to the back entrance. We were there for park opening (9 am) twice without rushing. On Wednesday it was getting really crowded. We went on Test Track and a couple of other rides first thing, and by 10:15, the fast pass return time for Soarin was already 3:49-4:49!! So I got fast passes, and we took the boat over to MGM for our noon ADR’s at Sci Fi. The boys waited on line to meet Mike and Sully while I picked up some Star Wars Christmas presents. We ate lunch and went back to BC. My husband took a nap:sad2:, and I took the boys to the pool for about an hour and a half. Then we woke up DH and he took the boys over to ride Soarin, while I showered and checked out the parts of the hotel the boys wouldn’t be interested in. I can’t imagine any other location where I could do all that by 5pm in one day without ever getting on a bus! Theoretically we could have walked to MGM as well, but it is a little over a mile, and not necessary.

I have always wanted to stay concierge, but never could justify the cost. Each morning they had Krispy Kreme doughnuts, fruit, banana bread, mini bagels, cereal, juice and coffee. In the afternoon, they had soda, iced tea, lemonade, cookies, goldfish, nuts, and pretzels. In the evening, they added beer and wine, a soup of the day, a hot appetizer, uncrustables, cheese and crackers, veggies and dip, and turkey pinwheels. After dinner, they brought out cordials, and mini pastries. It was very convenient to grab a coffee and doughnut in the morning, and the one time we brought CS back to the room, we added veggies and cheese and crackers, and it made for a nice meal. (My little guy is now addicted to uncrustables!!) However, we saw people who definitely at dinner nightly in the lounge. It was crazy in there for breakfast and dinner. The concierge staff was very nice. They welcomed us back every time we stepped off the elevator, and it was convenient to step outside your room and ask for help. Since we were upgraded, I did not use them for any pre planning, and I had already made my ADR’s 180 days out. They were happy to check for openings or cancelations, but I never saw them come through with anything. Perhaps because it was a busy time, but people checked with them every day for ADRs and trying to extend their stay, but to no avail. I had some things I needed to get over to Saratoga Springs where my friends were cooking Thanksgiving dinner, but they could not help. I asked if they could print my boarding passes for my flight home because I wasn’t going to be in the hotel at that time, but they said no, I could do it at any hotel or guest services in any of the parks. I am very thankful f or the upgrade, and the experience, but I’m not sure I would pay for this on my own. DDP and concierge was kind of overkill. We were just never hungry enough to try all the things we wanted to.

This is just a wonderful story. So happy for you and your family. I have stayed at Disney over 30 times in the last 15 years and nothing has ever happened to me like this. Maybe someday(sigh)

How awesome!!!!! God figured you needed a little pampering...you sound as tho your totally enjoyed everything:) Congrats!!!!

We had a great time! I did see another couple on their honeymoon receive an upgrade to concierge as well. I know the resort was fully booked because I saw people trying to add a day and they were turned down. Perhaps they over booked standard rooms?

I can't say enough about the BC. I had heard that the lobby was crazy there. It was busy. They had members of housekeeping making towel animals with the kids everyday. They had blocks and other games set up on the floor of the lobby. There were always CM's just wondering around asking if you needed assistance.

In the lobby restroom, they had baskets of hand towels instead of paper towels. On Thanksgiving, it drizzled on and off, and they had baskets of towels at both entrances for guests to dry themselves off. We had spent a good part of the day at GF, and didn't see either of these things there.
