We just flew back in early this afternoon, and I can't believe the whole trip is over so fast!!! Disney time just passes so much faster than regular time!!

Well, here are some specifics:

The Room:
We were booked for a standard room, and were placed in room 3092, which overlooks the quiet pool. It was a very nice view, with a daybed, with the beds on the left side of the room. We were told that the resort was sold out, and there was also a convention going on, so no upgrades were available for us. Although our room was considered standard view, the next door room 3094 is waterview, but we also had a very nice view of the quiet pool.

The Weather:
In all the years we have been going to WDW for the 4th of July, this was the wettest. Out of 9 days, we didn't have any rain for 3 days, rain only from 4-6pm for 3 days, and rain from 1-7pm for 3 days. It really only interupted our afternoon pool plans on 3 days, but not our park touring in the mornings or evenings. After the rains, the evenings cooled off quite nicely, although it was still somewhat humid.

The Security:
I must say I felt VERY safe at WDW, so anyone who is hesitating on going, please go!! You need a photo ID to check into the resorts, and all bags are checked each and every time and park you enter. MK checks were especially thorough. I saw helicopters and small planes around all the major icons, (castle, Epcot ball, etc.) and fighter jets in the skies overhead everyday. There are things being done that most are not aware of. Disney is definetly protecting it's investment.

SAB:
Wristbands are issued to all guest who present a valid resort card with the YC/BC/BCV ID number on it. CM's also walk around the pool checking for guests without the bands, and ask them to produce a card in order to stay. While it was crowded later in the week, there were always lounge chairs available. They created more areas to put chairs on by moving the garden/flower area back a bit. This year I did notice people brought some of their own flotation devices without any trouble.

Other DisMembers:
Again, I don't know where you all were! I only saw Towncrier on line at Test Track once. I looked all over for green ribbons, but no one else did I see!!!!

I will post later about our dining reviews, our transportation experience and our pin trading/hunting! Any questions, just ask!!:):D:)

Did you notice that SAB was more crowded now that the Beach club villas are open?? Where is the new seating area?? Im trying to picture it?? Im really glad they are handing out arm bands I think its a great idea!!
9 nights WOW that must be wonderful!!

...glad to have you back in NJ!!! Boy, THAT seemed to go by really quickly!!!! So happy to hear that you had a wonderful time, in spite of the wet weather. Hope your flights were ok, too! (I know that you had some trepidation re: flying... ) Can't wait to hear your restaurant reviews....:D

(PS ~ can I expect any great "pin surprises"?;) )

Countdown to WDW:

Hi there my fellow YC fan :)

so happy (but not surprised! LOL)
to hear you had yet again another fabulous time at the YC!
it is such an awesome resort! can't wait to be there again in November :)

Laura :)

tnkrbell,
SAB did not seem more crowded to me with the BCV open. I always saw available chairs, especially by the sandy area wading pool. The area they extended is by Beaches and Cream. There use to be about 10 feet of garden/flower space which they cut down to about 4 feet, cemented over and moved the tables back, creating an extra row of lounge chairs in that area.

kimmar067,
The flights were great and security was tight. Getting pins on July 4th was a REAL adventure! Kind of like the Space Mtn run, 10X!!! All parks were sold out of the LE pins by about 10AM, and there was a limit of 2 per person. However, I was able to get you something!:) (Will send a PM when I finish unpacking everything.)

princess angel,
I still can't believe the trip is over! The YC is just so beautiful, and if I close my eyes, I can still see myself walking on the boardwalk around the lighthouse and boat area, and through the gorgeous lobby. Lucky you will be back in November! I have to wait another year!:(

Hey Cindala!!! I'm so glad you had a great trip, despite the rain!
How was the YC Galley...did the breakfast buffet come back? Also, did you notice heavily crowded buses coming back from the parks now that we've got YC/BC/BCV/Swan/Dolphin guests to contend with? Thanks for your reply, and welcome back! :)

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YC RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mimi70,
Yes, the YC Galley was open for breakfast and lunch only though. We didn't eat there, so I don't know if the breakfast buffet came back.

We used the buses several times to MK and AK. I didn't notice on the way there, but on the way back I noticed there was a separate bus stop for the YC/BC/BCV from the Swan/Dolphin returning from MK, so it appears they have put these resorts on separate lines at least for MK. Returning from AK we were all on the same line. The buses weren't crowded, and everyone had a seat. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus either.

We would walk to Epcot, and DH and 1 DD would walk to MGM. Unfortunately my other DD and I would take the S-L-O-W boat to MGM. I would rather have walked, but I injured my toe (possibly broken) 1 day before the trip, and I was trying to cut down on walking. The boats stop at the Swan/Dolphin and take about 20 minutes from pickup at the YC dock to drop off at MGM. On the other hand, the walk along the walkway by the BW takes about 10 minutes! There was always a seat on the boats too. :):D:)

Cindala,
I know what you mean about closing your eyes and picturing yourself at the YC, and strolling around the BW! it is so amazing:)

The lobby of the YC is a great place to just sit and relax and soak it all in!

I cannot wait to go in November! This will be the first time we spend the entire 2 weeks at the Yacht Club, I can't possibly be more excited thinking about it :)
only 137 days to go!

When are you going next year? are you staying at the YC again? or is that a silly question :)

Laura :)

Welcome Back, Cindala! Glad that you had a great time. Great to read your trip reports before I finish my packing!

Like the idea that we can walk to EPCOT. By the way, have you eaten at Spoodles? Hoping to try some new restaurants...if possible.

Another question. I think I read that there are quiet pools and whirlpools scattered around. Are they open lin the evenings(post park closing)?

sjh801

sjh801,
The whirlpool and hot tub are in the SAB area. They were open until about 10pm when we were there last week. The quiet pool is open 24hrs., but there isn't any lifeguard on duty.

We didn't eat at Spoodles, but my dining report will be on the restaurant board soon. We had all good dining experiences.

princess angel,
Same time next year, July 4th week, if all goes well we'll be back at the YC of course! :):D:)

Are there renovations going on at YC? Any idea when they will be completed? We are going to be there Oct. 15 for 5 nights and we were just wondering what to expect. Also, any other recommendations on room requests when we have standard view reservations? We were there in '98 and had a first floor room with a view of the wedding gazebo. Is that still considered a standard view? Any info would be appreciated.

We stayed at the YC for the first time in June... and fell in LOVE!!!

We bought BCV DVC in March and I was disapponted we couldn't get into VWL, but after staying at YC, I'm so psyched about BCV!!!

minniesota,
Yes, there were renovations going on in the concierge level, but it did not affect us in anyway. We were on the 3rd floor, and didn't hear any noise or see any renovation work either on the inside of the resort or the outside. They are renovating a floor at a time, but I don't know the completion date.

With standard room reservations, there are a few areas that are pretty good. I copied a floor layout map from the YC/BC Forum within the resorts forum. All rooms with a green line are standard. On the 3rd floor, rooms 3032-3054 & 3092 and 3094 overlook the quiet pool, 3030-3012 overlook a small pond and the Dolphin, 3148-3154 overlook the Gazebo Courtyard, and 3096-3112 overlook the tennis courts. Most rooms overlooking the Gazebo are considered waterview. The 4th floor doesn't have as many rooms, and the second floor has a little bit different layout. Go to the YC/BC Forum and find the layout or do a search for Mary Ann Floridian.

JulesMom,
From what I saw of the BCV, they will be very popular! They are beautiful! You will have a great time!:):D:)

Hey, Cindala
Thanks for the response about room locations! These boards are so great. Did you request third floor and did you like that? We've stayed at the YC and the GF and I guess we have always ended up on the main floor, but I've never requested before. Any advantages to upper floors? Also, my sister, her DH and DD are traveling with us this time. We were talking about connecting rooms and we need non-smoking(which is on my reservation), but are we asking for too much if we throw view in there too? Of course by DD thinks we should have the exact location we had four years ago - she was able to watch two weddings in the gazebo right from our patio! Any advice would be great. Sounds like you had a fabulous time!

minniesota,
When we made our reservation we requested 3rd or 4th floor, non smoking room. We prefer either of these two floors to cut down on any noise from the main level (passersby, maintenance, guests coming in late, etc). As it turns out, the 3rd floor is a totally non smoking floor, as stated on the fire exit doors. We have also had non smoking rooms on the 4th floor as well, but I'm not sure if the whole floor is non smoking.

We loved the 3rd floor! The elevators are very quick, as a matter of fact I noticed much quicker than last year! Our room had a connecting door in it too. Sounds like we had all the things you are looking for: non-smoking, connecting room, good view from a standard room. I know the gazebo view is nice! We had it several times, but with a standard only 3148-3154, and possibly similar numbers on the other floors overlook the gazebo.

Yes, we had a wonderful time!!! It just went so quickly, that it seems like we never went! DH went back to work today, and he's having a really hard time believing it's over too!:):D:)

Cindala-Glad to hear you had such a great time. Perhaps your dh will take you back again.

Cindala,
Third floor sounds perfect and yeah, your room sounds like it would have everything we need! Thanks! Any other advice about places to eat, things to do, etc.? We have PS's for Cape May, Flying Fish Cafe, Chef Mickey's and California Grill (for me and DH). My kids are 11 and 8, and our niece is 10. We've never done Cindy's, Fantasmic or Animal Kingdom. And MNSSHP will be happening while we are there. Have you done any/all of these? Would you recommend? What about illuminations cruise? Sorry for all the questions but I am in charge of the planning for this party of seven, so I like all the info I can get. BTW, we'll be at GF for 3 nights and then over to the YC for 5. I feel so lucky to be able to do this! DH is dragging his feet a little but the kids and I are counting the days!!! If anyone else has suggestions, jump right in!

minniesota, you will all enjoy Animal Kingdom. Get there as soon as it opens and head straight for the safari. After that catch Tough to be a bug, then grab a Fastpass for Kali River.Once you have the fastpass head to the Dinosaur ride. After you ride you will then have plenty of time to have a nice breakfast at Tusker House without rushing. After breakfast use your fastpass to walk right on Kali River and "viola" you have accomplished the 4 biggest attractions with no waiting and its not even 11am. We did it this way 4th of July week and it went great.

I have a question about the photo IDs. I didn't know that you needed to present photo IDs when checking into your resort. Our driver's lic's don't have photos on them, so what else do they want? What about the kids? I would HATE to think that I went all the way there, spent all that money and got turned down at the desk because we didn't have appropriate photo IDs to check in. What's the scoop on that? Thanks.
