We just got back last night. Had a great time despite the horrific crowds. We were so hoping it'd be a little early for the spring breakers but apparently not. Some of the wait times for attractions were over 100 minutes! We did get to do the new Toy Story Mania ride and we all loved it. Didn't get to try American Idol though.
Check in was a nightmare. Totally unbelievable. We had a CM named Joe who didn't have a clue as to what he was doing. DVC or otherwise I suspect. We had two rooms booked with the DDP. He did one room completely and gave us the room cards. The other had some sort of problem and he said the computer was deleting it everytime he typed it in. We stood and waited over thirty minutes. Finally he took the DDP payment and told us to come back as the rooms weren't ready anyway so we went and ate at T-Rex and returned around four. This time we had a different CM and we had to explain everything again. She went to the back room and on returning told us the reason we didn't have the room cards for the second room was because we hadn't paid for the DDP yet.
DH and I both freaked. What??? We did pay in total earlier before Joe told us to come back later. I actually thought I was going to be sick. Was I stupid enough to give $638.00 of our son's money to a complete stranger and walk away with no receipt? Apparently so. She did get it straightened out though. After we left the desk when Joe couldn't get the problem figured out he just hung up the phone and the computer deleted out the entire transaction. The AKL manager came out and personally apologized and promised that the situation would be dealt with.
We were given rooms 5414 ( 2-bedroom) and 5460 (1-bedroom) both standard view with lovely views of the pool. 5414 was a handicap room on the one bedroom side but did have the jetted tub and shower combination. It worked out well for us because I was worried about reports of the tub being hard to enter and exit. I have bad knees and legs from RA in my spine and the tub had several safety bars so using it was very easy. The rooms were both very clean and we had no issues with housekeeping at all. One thing I did miss was a full length mirror in the one bedroom side of the two bedroom room. It would be nice to have at least one. There were two in the studio side.
The weather turned out to be alot warmer than what we'd hoped for but it wasn't too bad except for a few hours each afternoon. The mornings and evenings were even a bit chilly.
We had a great time and look forward to staying at AKV again someday.
