Just back from a week at WL... Questions Anyone?

Glad to hear you had a great time! Was wondering if you had to share the bus with Ft. Wilderness going or returning from any of the parks.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the info! We're staying at WL for the first time in 2 weeks.

My biggest concern is transportation. It sounds like the buses pick up at the Contemporary first, then WL, then sometimes the Poly! I am worried that we will never make it for park opening because of the bus situation. I am glad that the boats to MK are pretty good.:)

I am not going to hope for an upgrade because the resort is booked solid for our entire stay. I am hoping to avoid "dumpster view" accompanied by "lots of noise".;)

For the first few days (Sun. - Wed.) we shared with FW. We were always the first to be picked up (buses fairly empty) and the first to be dropped off. Thur. - Sat. were dedicated buses.

The buses we were on were either WL only or Wl --> FW --> Destination. We never stopped at CR, Poly or GF.

Of course, this could change based on the time of year you go and the attendance level.

The boats always go to WL --> FW --> MK or WL --> FW --> CR (smaller boat).

Congratulations on a great trip! We really enjoyed the Wilderness Lodge back in 2004, and hope to go there next July. :)

That's good to know! Thanks! Our first park day will be Aug. 16 and the resort is completely sold out for our stay. Hopefully we will get buses just for WL!:)

Thanks for answering all my questions. I love getting little tidbits of information to add to my growing stockpile of useless knowledge in my brainpan. :lmao:

We will be there in 24 days (and 7 hours, 19 minutes - but who's counting?);)

We were at the WL last week as well! It was our first trip and staying on Disney property made it great.
We got there around 11 am and our room wasn't ready but they held our bags and told us where we could change and we had lunch at RF and used the pool. Around 2:30 our room was ready and our luggage had arrived from the airport. We were at the Magic Kingdom by 4 !!!

We loved the convienence of the boat transportation and we were usually the first stop back on the bus routes.

We had a bunk bed room with a woods view... or what used to be woods view. We were facing the new Villas. The bunk beds were well worth the extra money, it was nice for my girls princess: (8 and 5) to have their own beds :cloud9: since we were there 7 nights.

The Concierge staff was excellent. It seemed that we had a new question for them every day but they were always friendly and helpful. They are experts on the dining plan... which I HIGHLY recommend.

The food was good at RF, we didn't eat at WC or AP. It did get a bit loud at night in the lobby from WC but we were so tired from the parks that we went straight up to bed!

The only real negatives we had were that the place was absolutley freezing! We kept our AC almost off at night and used the ceiling fan, which was great.
Also, the renovations are beautiful but in the bathroom area the sinks are far back on the counter and my 5 year old was not able to wash her hands by herself or rinse after brushing her teeth without being lifted up. I called the front desk and they did not have any step stools. I would recommend if you can fit it in your luggage, one of those fold-flat step stools.

All-in-all, I would go back in a heartbeat, we loved it. I'm so sad it's over!!!
