Hi All!
Can you spell "R..A..I..N"?????
DH and I just got back from a quickly planned trip to WDW without the kids.
We flew into Tampa (because I couldn't get a FF ticket into MCO) on Saturday night, and stayed right at the airport at the Marriott (only $89!) because it was 11:00 and we had been up early to go to a 10:30 AM wedding. Needless to say, we were tired. The hotel was beautiful, and even tho we could see planes taking off from our window, we couldn't hear a thing.
Got up the next morning, rented a car from Avis and were on the road at 8:25 p.m. We arrived at Publix (not far from WWOS) at about 9:45. Let me say that we would not hesitate to fly into Tampa again, if MCO was not available or was cost prohibitive. It was a cinch to get to WDW, and only about an hour and fifteen minute drive.
Anyway, we picked up some beer and soda at Publix, and the cashier looked like she was enjoying it when she told me it was going to POUR and that I didn't want to know the forecast for the week! Great!
We got to the BC at about 10:30 and our room was ready!!!! All of my requests were met, too. We had a (murphy) king bed, which was very comfortable, and a full balcony looking out onto the BW and the SAB slide. It was beautiful. We changed into bathing suits, went to the pool, and relaxed until the rain came, and boy did it come! It rained - no, it POURED! - from about 3 until late that night!
The next 3 days we did the usual stuff - parks, etc. - but like I said, the weather was lousy. It poured every day, and not just for the usual 30 - 60 minutes. This was hours and hours of torrential rain! One of the CM's at the BC told me it had been like this for 2 weeks!
The only night that was really nice was Tuesday night, so we went to Epcot to see Shockwave (AWESOME!) and Illuminations, and then we walked around the BW for a while.
I won't bore you with any more details - like I said we did nothing "out of the ordinary".
The biggest highlight of the trip was a tour of the BCV that we took on Tuesday. It was GORGEOUS!!!! Let me just say, fellow DVCers, we are going to LOVE it here!!!
Other highlights of the trip were: Palio at the Swan for dinner, Shockwave, and "One Man's Dream" at MGM.
The real lowlight was the weather. We will be back in August, but I really feel badly for those people who were on their one vacation for a long, long time. What a lousy way to see WDW!
All in all, we made the best of it (hey, we didn't have kids with us!) and we look forward to the August trip - and better weather!!!!!
