We just got back on Saturday the 17th after a 9 night stay. We were at AKL Kidani Village in a 1 bedroom Villa. Savannah view room. We loved it. It was really nice. The room was clean and very comfortable. My kids loved seeing the animals out the balcony. My husband didn't love it. He thought the whole hotel was just to dark. He went to lobby one am at 6am and was annoyed he couldn't work anywhere because lack of lights and no coffee. But that was his only complaint. My daughter and I loved getting all the beads from the activities around the resort.
The crowds were SO manageable. I am glad we tried this time of year for that reason. MK was the only park that saw longer waits for rides. One morning we were there at 9am and another 8am and we rode everything we wanted to in the first couple hours and used our fast passes. It never really seemed over crowded though at any point. Except it took 30 minutes to get our food at QS Pinocchio Village Haus which was a bit annoying. Way to slow for a QS and it was like 1:00. At all the other parks the crowds were super low. We didn't wait in hardly any long lines saw most of the characters we wanted too.
My DD 7 and I went back to AK one evening after MK from 6-9 and it was great. We walked right on Kali two times, Primeval Whirl twice, Triceratop spin and EE once. It was pleasant walking around with hardly anyone else there. We ate QS Yak and Yeti which was good and quick.
The heat. Now thats my problem. I knew it would be hot were from VA. No one got burnt, we all drank water but it was HOT HOT HOT. It really made it hard to just walk around and enjoy Disney. We felt like we were just going from place to place to try and get in AC or wait in the shade for a ride. There was no just casual walking around taking it in because it was so hot. It was really hard on my 4 year old. He was really crabby a lot of the time and I think its because of the heat. My DD 7 was great she didn't complain once. As much as I enjoyed the low crowds I'd never go again in the heat like that. We only used pool once and just bc no one really wanted too.
We ate a lot of food. Some great, some ok. Really liked 1900 Park Fare dinner. Characters were awesome there. Tucker house breakfast and Boma was decent food. Crystal Palace food was ok too. Had some yummy goodies at Epcot. The dark chocolate sea salt caramel from Germany was ridiculous!! I wish I had bought 10. Didn't like San Angel Inn. I didn't really know what to order from Menu. Not typical mexican like around here. I didn't like what I got at all. Teppan Edo was really good. A bit different than our Hibachi grills here in VA but it was good.
All in all it was a great trip. We all had fun. Went on a lot of rides, met good characters. Nothing bad happened. No rude Cast members, the parks and bathrooms were all really clean. We rent a car which we will always do. We just find we move much faster and enjoy that. My DD and I did use the bus a few times when her and I stayed longer and went back to parks with the boys. The bus isn't awful but you def have to wait and the bus drives a lot slower than cars. I think next time we will stay at GF or Poly. But DH says not for 5 years. I think I can talk him down to 3
