Just back from our first stay at CR & it was just magical. Our best trip yet. Walking to MK or the monorail with a 2 yr old was heaven. I'm spoiled now don't want to leave monorail. Was in N wing room 7125 first floor view of some water mostly the playground which worked out well kids could go out there play while we watched in room or on patio. Kids loved the EWP. Could see fireworks from parking lot. Room was big didn't feel crowded with 5 people. Maids need to vacuum little better. That's only complaint I had & so what. Maid kept us stocked with towels. A maint. man there liked to talked said they are redoing rooms will start in S wing do half those first. Conventioners don't like the rooms redoing so using most of CR for conventions. The sad part is North wing will be torn down in 2006 to build a highrise Vacation Club. He said it's to be very luxurious. Be totally seperate from CR. I was very sad to hear that I assume this was my last trip to CR. Can't afford tower room rates will go way up for sure. Am counting down for our next trip leave 11/30 for first stay at WL. Anyone out there nervous about staying at CR don't be I was & boy am I glad we stayed.

Sounds like you had a wonderful stay! Thanks for sharing!

nooooooooooo!!! say it ain't so!!!!!!!!! wing is one of my favorite places...what are they thinking adding more timeshare, excuse me I have to find the kleenex! they'll be demolishing a huge part of my childhood memories :(

Glad to hear you had a great trip! Being a DVC member, I'm excited to hear another rumor about a DVC at CR!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

i just thought of something! Did he say that they were currently redoing rooms in the South Wing? Cause we have wing ressies for next month and i have respiratory issues, i am wondering if i should request north wing so that we're not near the paint/new carpet smell etc... has anyone seen/heard any refurb going on during their stay???

thanks!

He claims they are only doing 2 rooms right now kinda models I guess. They will eventually shut half of it down do half at time eveyone will go to N wing then. I mentioned this to someone working at guest services she didn't know anything about it so if what he says is true I have a feeling the word is just getting out. I had read on here before there was a rumor of tearing N wing down. I think you'll be ok there really is nothing going on yet. Have a good trip.

I would request N wing only cause it's closer to MK walkway.

thank you so much!

I usually request close to the main building (i'm disabled) but i have some other room requests this trip and i don't want to overload the room assigner lol. i am toying with upgrading to the tower...makes it so much easier to get to the monorail, don't know if DH would go for it LOL.

thanks again! i cannot wait to go 'home' to the CR. Spent so much of my childhood there that it really DOES feel like home to me!

so happy you had a great trip, if you think of any other details to share about your recent CR experience please do!!!

we're goin to Disney World!!!" :earsgirl:

I'm so happy you enjoyed your trip. We stayed at the CR in June (N. Garden Wing) and had nothing but praise for its facilities and restaurants.

That's why I'm disturbed to hear about the construction of DVC rooms. Unless Disney plans to expand construction beyond the land on which the N. Garden Wing rests, I don't see how a SEPARATE hotel can fit without being an eyesore.

I suspect quite a few CR 'wingers' will be upset by the news regardless.

The man who told me said it was to be a highrise it will have it's own pool too. I thought same. Guess time will tell.

wow! this is rumor worthy. you should consider posting this to other popular wdw rumors sites. I can think of a few people who would be interested in this. most of us assumed it would just be a conversion of the CR wings into a DVC property with suite sized rooms but essentially the same resort and feel. now this idea of an entirely different resort and experience makes me wonder what this means for development around Bay Lake and the wooded areas a bit north-east of CR tower right now. good stuff thanks for posting! (for those saddened by this rumor you should be even more distressed how poorly the wing areas of CR is currently kept). This area has such potential and its kept in the same theming as the Oddessy is (run down)!
