We just got back last night from 8 days at POR. We stayed from 8/25-9/1. This was our first time staying at POR and it was great! The landscaping is beautiful! I requested building 14 but was placed in 16 which was fine. We got a corner room with two windows and the quiet pool was steps from our door. We never heard any noise or foot traffic from other guests....it felt like we were the only ones there LOL. We also received a new towel animal everyday...sometimes two. The kids would race back to the room to see what Mousekeeping had left. I am planning on writing a trip report when I get around to it but I am happy to answer any questions on POR if anyone has any. :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had a nice trip! We are going there next August and cannot wait, we love POR also. A lot of unhappy posts lately about POR, nice to see a happy one! :thumbsup2

So thats where all my towel animals went--to your room;)

You at least got the section you requested. We requested Alligator Bayou, and got Acadian House (Mansions) 2nd floor, parking lot view.

Sounds nice. I was talking with daughter just the other night, about POR. We have stayed twice at the French Qtrs. The second time we had a corner room with the 2 windows which I really liked.

So for any one that has stayed there would love some insight on where to request room location.

We have stayed at FQ several times and have always loved it. The great thing about the French Quarter is that no matter where you stay you are close to everything. My favorite buildings are 2 and 5 which are located on either side of the pool. Hope that helps:)

:thumbsup2

Glad to hear you loved POR. We love it and I can't wait to go back in March 2008. I was wondering are the refillable mugs still the old ones or have they changed to the YOAMD? I need more, I use them everyday for work and I'm down to 1 left and I like the POR mugs with goofy and mickey on them fishing. Kinda helps me get through the work day knowing I'm there for a reason, :rotfl2: Paying for my WDW TRIP again:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks for the review. We love the POR also. I hope our trip in a few days will be just as nice.

It's nice to see a good review of POR.. i was beginning to get WORRIED because i am honeymooning there in january and was getting cold feet about POR due to all the negative reviews.... would anyone recommend this resort to someone for a honeymoon?? we are very young and paying for everything ourselves... so a deluxe was out of the question... i hope this resort is nice...
:sad1: :scared: :confused3

I would recommend it for the beautiful landscaping. I would get a mansion if you can. I stayed in Parterre Place and it was nice. If you want to see pics go to my tr and look at page 1 POR is on it and a couple room pics. I was there in July so they r recent.
It was really a gorgeous resort.

Did you have the info on the Bounceback Free Dining offer for next year in your room and did you book it? :goodvibes

BTW, if you don't know what I mean, this is per mousesavers:

Bounceback Free Dining Promotion
This offer is available ONLY to guests staying at one of the official Walt Disney World resorts between 8/31/07-9/28/07.

Using a special phone number provided on some resort restaurant receipts or on a flyer provided in some resort rooms, you can book a vacation package for next year, for stays between 8/30/08-9/27/08, at a Walt Disney World resort with theme park tickets and receive the Dining Plan for FREE.

If you don't get the offer on a receipt or a flyer in your room, I recommend asking at the front desk.

There is a 3-night minimum stay requirement. Reservation for 2008 must be made before you check out and no later than September 28 to qualify. A $200 deposit is required at time of reservation.

i just checked mousesavers and could not find anything about a bounce back special if you know where i could find it i'd love the help:surfweb:

We did receive the bounceback offer in our room on Saturday (the day we checked out). I still have the flyer.....the offer is good only if you booked before checking out. We decided against booking it because of DH's vacation schedule next year. Hope you all get to take advanatage of it!!:goodvibes

I forgot to add that on the flyer we were given the date to book actually begins on 8/30/07 not the 31st.:)

As far as POR for honeymoons - it would be perfect! In fact we saw alot of newlyweds. The resort is absolutely beautiful w/ lots of amenities. I would say it is the closest to a deluxe out of all the moderates IMHO. I think you will be very happy with it!! The landscaping is just gorgeous! I know there have been alot of negative posts about POR lately but we really had no problems at all. The staff was always helpful and the buses were fine. We did encounter a long line one evening after Fantasmic but two buses arrived quickly and I was able to get a seat w/ DD. DH did stand but I believe that was the only time. Our room was closest to the South Depot and that was always the first stop at POR. Have a great vacation!!:goodvibes

It's nice to read that people have good experiences at POR too!!! Our next vacation is Feb 29'08 - Mar 08'08 and I was really looking forward to staying at this resort. Last resort stay was at POFQ and it was great but when we took the boat ride down to POR it looked so beautiful and we wanted to try it next.

I've requested Oak Manor for our stay because it's close to the main building, laundry, quiet pool and two bus depots and I hope we aren't disappointed. From everything I've read so far, it seems the biggest complaint is the bus service. Has anyone had any good experience with this??

We didn't have any problems with the bus system. We got on at the South depot which was always the first stop after POFQ. I was expecting a bus nightmare but it was totally fine. I would definitely stay at POR again!!

To answer the post above regarding the mugs....they are the YOAMD mugs now. What I couldn't figure out was why some of them have different color handles...ours were blue which matched the cup but some of the handles were black and some were grey. Anyone know why? It was driving me crazy all week LOL.:goodvibes

I am not sure why the handles are different colors but it worked well for us. The one with the silver handle was my sisters and the one with the blue handle was mine. I just assumed they made them different colors for that reason???

Thanks for the reply on the mugs, I guess it was wish full thinking that the mugs would stay the same since all resorts have changed. I guess I'll be buying them instead of the original POR mugs. Thanks for the help:)
