Just back from 5 nights, 6 days at the Swan. Had a great trip, thanks for all the planning advice everyone. :) If anyone has any questions or needs info, I'd be happy to help if I can...

we were upgraded to a great room with a balcony on the 5th floor w/ a beautiful view of the dolphin, the canopied walkway & the lake. We actually almost got stuck w/ a view of gulliver's roof, but we asked the desk clerk to show us a map and exactly what we faced and she suggested a room w/ a view of the dolphin and lake instead and gave us a room on the east wing. the rooms across the hallway faced epcot, but there were no more of those left. i'm so glad we didn't get stuck with that roof-view room rightoff the elevator. our room was at the end of the hallway and had a great view and perfect location!

p.s. here is a list of restaurants we ate at (in no real order). chef mickey's, cosmic rays, backlot express, california grill, san angel inn (place inside mexico pavillion), yacht club galley, leaning palms (at typhoon lagoon), tubbi's, dolphin fountain, beaches & cream, spoodles. and lots of ice cream (atlantic sweet shop on boardwalk, dolphin fountain, main st. in MK).

be happy to answer and resort, restaurant or attractions questions that i can :) :earsgirl:

I hope you'll have time to post dining reviews in the restaurants forum!

BTW, where in the city do you live?

My DH loves Mexican food and wants to try the San Angel Inn. Was it good?

Thanks,

Joanne

Glad to hear you had a wonderful vacation! We also had a room at the very end of the hall and loved it!

Our dinner at San Angel Inn was very good. It isn't typical Tex-Mex, it is a bit more traditional Mexican. My DH had a beer and I had a Strawberry Margarita that was too big for me to finish. The nachos and salsa they put on the table were good (tasty salsa). We got an appetizer of baked nachos with queso cheese, jalepenos, tomatoes (and a few other things i am forgetting)--they were very good. My dish was the Plato Mexicano (the closest thing on the menu to Tex-Mex), it came with some sort of beef filet, a chicken enchillada and a beef burrito and rice and beans. The main dish portions were plentiful and the food was very good. My DH had chicken mole pollbano--it is a spicy traditional Mexica sauce with peppers and chocolate. He liked it. We were too full for dessert, but they have things such as flan on the menu. The entrees were about 18-22 dollars and the appetizers are around 4-7 dollars. I think the food is good there and it is a nice setting to sit in (we had a table right in front of the pyramid on the "River of Time"--it was dark and romantic!) We have never eaten there for lunch, but they have a similar menu at lunch time wiht a few different things and the prices are cheaper. Definitely a good place to try :) Enjoy!

I am so glad your Dolphin stay turned out so well - S/D RULES!

How big was the room?
Could it sleep 4 comfortably, in your opinion?
How was housekeeping?
Did you request a frige? If so, how much was it?
How were the bathroom amenities?
What floor did you stay on?
Was your room worth the $$$ you paid? Was it well-maintained?

We are thinking about staying there in a couple of years with my little bro and sis (will-be-teens). Thanks for any info you can give!:wave2:

Hey Lady from NYC, our room was just above yours! We were in 625 east wing which was a corner studio facing the courtyard, Dolphin areas!

aesalsa - I could probably answer some of your questions since we just returned from a Swan stay (and have stayed there 5x prior)...
How big was the room? the regular rooms are a nice resort size, they are definitely larger than many of the WDW owned resort rooms. We had a "studio" room our past stay, it is like a regular room with a dining area added onto it and the views are mostly spectacular because they're panaoromic views of the area

Could it sleep 4 comfortably, in your opinion? Absolutely can sleep 4 comfortabley. 2 queen beds would be best for this amount of people. The "studio room" could sleep 4, but 2 people would have to sleep in a full sized sofabed so a regular room may be better unless they are small children or you can request a rollaway bed.

How was housekeeping? Was great, room made up wonderful, any special request met very quickly. You can request turndown service for everynight as well

Did you request a frige? If so, how much was it? There is a mini bar in the room already. There is room for some small items (we had 3 small bottles of OJ, a container of cream cheese, cheese slices and 2 juice boxes in with their items) but you can also have the resort empty the frig for a $25 charge I believe, you might want to call to confirm if this has changed

How were the bathroom amenities? If you mean the soaps, etc, they have really nice oatmeal bath bars and glycerin face soaps. They also have a shower cap, shoe mit and a few other odds and ends. They also have a coffee maker with coffee/decaf and teas.

What floor did you stay on?We were on the 6th floor east wing in a corner "studio" room facing the courtyard, Dolphin, YC/BC areas.

Was your room worth the $$$ you paid? Was it well-maintained? Worth every penny and more! Maintained to perfection. They just renovated the Swan, the renovations are wonderful and the heavenly beds are out of this world!! The rooms are fresher than any room you can get on property right now!!

Thank you SOOO much for the info! The more I read about the Swan :scratchin, the more I think it is a better value than the WDW resorts (haven't stayed at any)! There is now an 80% chance that we will stay at the Swan in 2005!! :wave2:

Thanks for the info!
We'll give the San Angel Inn a try!
