We just got back from 5 wonderful nights at the Wilderness Lodge! We stayed in a standard view room right over the check-in desk in the lobby. It had been a few years since we'd stayed here, and we had never even seen it without the Christmas decorations! We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be going back! I'll be happy to answer any questions!

We were in room #4099... and had a view of the room! We didn't expect much since it was a standard view room... we were more interested in being over the lobby than the view!

Thanks for the quick reply. I stayed in 4082 a couple years ago, on the other side of the lobby from your room (mine was woods view). :) It was pretty neat being in the lobby area!

Hi! Glad to hear you had a great trip! We're staying at the WL in 27 days... we've requested a room looking over the main lobby, did you find it to be noisy at all?

Hi, glad you had a great trip. How was the transportation? I have been reading that it is really bad. Did you wait long for the buses and the boat? Was the pool crowded?? How is the food court??? thanks,,,, Corvair

Andy,
I have a standard room booked. I am thinking about requesting a room over the check out area. Was it noisy at night? I have 18 days to go! Any other info. about the WL that you could share would be appreciated! Thanks

What was in your Room ? did you have the bunk beds , were you traveling with kids ? Thanks Michelle

We just returned from the WL as well. 7 nights ending 4/27 in standard view room #6054. Although there was nothing standard about it. We had a clear view of the Main Steet Train Station and the Contempory. We also had a view of Cinderella's Castle that was just a tad obstructed by a few pine needles, but at night with the way the lights were you could hardly notice the trees, and a completely unobstructed view of the fireworks. We also got to see some "bonus" fireworks a couple of nights @11pm associated with the Grad nights last week. We were above the much acclaimed loading area but we must have got in too late at night and left too early in the morning to notice any noise or activity from down below.

I will also be happy to field any questions you may have.

Either we were just lucky or the transportation has gotten much much better because we didn't wait a single time (for a boat or bus) for more than 2 or 3 minutes. One thing that has changed since September is that the Wilderness Lodge busses now go to Fort Wilderness too, instead of to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian. We did find that the path the drivers took was a little eratic, as we would sometimes stop at FW on our way to the parks, and then again on the way home. But other times, we went from the WL to the parks and then on the way home stopped at the WL first! I do wish they would keep it consistant... But other than that, the transportation was outstanding!

As far as room noise, we could hear a little bit from the Whispering Canyon, but we rather enjoyed that. It wasn't loud, and you could certainly sleep through it, but in the evening, it was fun to hear. I remember at Christmas time we could hear carolers from the lobby and that was delightful! The WCC closes at 10PM, so that wasn't a problem for us!

Roaring forks is great... we never ate there, but never saw a line when we were refilling our mugs either.

The pool was fine. Not terribly crowded, but not uncrowded either... In the afternoons they have a duck race for the kids on the upper part of the creek running from the lobby... too much fun! We have no kids, but it was fun to watch!

That's interesting that you never had to wait. We were there the same time and lots of incidents of waiting 25-30 minutes for a bus. The boats are much more consistent.

One of the bus drivers told me they switched the routes from Poly/GF to FW about 3 weeks ago. Maybe that is why they're so inconsistent. We also found that very aggravating. And sometimes they would take that service road between WL and FW and sometimes they would take the main roads.

Hi! I'd like to know how early you checked in and if your room was ready in a timely manner? Also, how were the CM's, friendly or other? Any info is appreciated, I read the post about the couple who had a bad time at WL and it has me a little worried. I'll be staying at WL for the first time for my honeymoon this August and hope it will be wonderful! :)

We arrived at about 1:30 and our room was ready and they were at full capacity. We held the line up a little bit because the CM who checked us in was so friendly we chatted for a few minutes. I recall one CM at the front desk who wasn't particularly friendly, but maybe that's because she was working the night shift. Other than that one, we found everyone to be quite friendly and helpful. We didn't think we a had particularly good matress and I spoke to Guest Relations at the desk. Within half an hour we had a brand new matress and slept straight through the night for the rest of the week.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. While we were there we saw 3 weddings in the lodge and we didn't spend much time there - it makes me think there could have been even more.

I found the cast members to be wonderful! They were fantastic anytime of the day... the maids made animals (rabbits) with our towels and such... We checked in at 10:30AM (with no wait) and our room was ready right then and there. I will say that when we were leaving (right around 10:30 on Sunday morning) there was a pretty big line and the check-in desk was packed with CM's (not a single open space!)... We noticed the front desk was pretty crowded all day Saturday as well... I think it depends on which day you check in and what time of day.
