We just got back from a 5 night stay at HRH Jan 3-8. It was our first onsite visit to Universal and it was wonderful from beginning to end. We LOVED the HRH...Rock music in the lobby, by the elevators, in your room, by the pool..very well done.
We were in room 5130 with a pool view, and also a view of Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket, and fireworks at night. Rooms were set up well, plenty of room for the 3 of us; DD 23 and I shared one bed, DS 19 in the other. We had originally ordered a cot and then decided not to as honestly, I don't know where the cot would have went! Fridge was also in the room as we ordered.
Bathroom set up was very good; outside sink with good counter space and also a small sink inside the toilet/tub area was a nice addition. PLENTY of towels; just had to ask for a couple more and every day they were replenished.
Kitchen was very good (burgers, sandwich/soup combo, breakfast buffet). Beach Club was just ok. Didnt' eat at the Palms.
Cannot beat the location! LOCATION! So easy to grab a water taxi to citiwalk to eat, or shop or get to the parks. The surrey bikes are great too; don't forget they work for tips, AND you can't really rely on them being around. As for the walk to the parks, I have a bad back so I saved it for the parks but the kids timed it as 15 minutes to US and more like 20 to IOA. Not bad at all.
The best thing? THE STAFF! My kids even commented on how NICE everyone was at the HRH. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had whatever we needed and more. Have to admit, in this category, they are way above our recent Disney visits...WAY above.
Didn't use the pool itself but sat out by it on our last day. Very relaxing, great rock music, great attention from waiters, etc.
We really felt pampered on this trip and will return. Rock On!
