Ok This is my first TR so I will do my best :)

We started out in DL and we were there for rope drop. The CM's really made my kids feel special while we were waiting. I was surprised at how NOT busy it was when they let us in. We spent 3 days in DL and every morning seemed to be a breeze with the crowds till around 11ish. I have to thanks the boards for stressing how important it is to be early. Like I said we spent 3 days in DL but honestly I felt like we had everything done in a day and a half!!

Last 2 days we spent in DCA. So here it goes..this is the difference about an hr makes in the morning. I was really excited to get to the gate EARLY. We did not have any kinds of EE but I was at the gate at 6:45. I purposely made sure to on an APEE EE because of block outs and it made a HUGE difference. The crowds at DL seemed to be twice as big! As soon as they opened the gate I went strait to RSR FP line and was about the 12th person in line. Right at rope drop they lead the line to the FP area and it look me 5 min to get FP's. The return time was 9:55. Our family decided to take advantage of the rest of the park but I'm sure it would have been easy to get in a somewhat short line for RSR.

So day two. We were decided to sleep in a bit and we didn't arrive at DCA till 7:40. I headed for RSR FP line again while my family waited for rope drop. This time I was across the street from Award Wieners and the wait was 25 min with a return time of 1:55. This time I got 3 surprise FP for Scream'n! Right after I did go get our FP for the first show of WOC and No one was even around the FP area. We just kinda took our time in the park on the second day.

Highlights-- We ate at Flow's twice (Breakfast and Dinner) I thought food was good and priced very well. At breakfast the french toast was awesome if you like sugar in the morning ;) Plaza Inn was a huge hit for us, the food was good! DH wouldn't stop talking about it.

We had amazing viewing spots for F! and WOC. We did go early (90 min) for WOC. I did not mind the wait at all! It was fun to sit on a blanket and visit with another cute family that arrived right after us but had not idea they were waiting in a bad spot behind us so we invited them to sit with us.

At the end of everyday we had lots of FP's so it was fun giving them away. It was so fun to see people light up when we asked them if they wanted them.

Last RSR was amazing! If you can I would recommend riding in at night...it just seemed so special with everything lit up.

Hope this info helps anyone...just trying to pay it forward. Please ask me any questions and I will try to help :)

Geat info, thanks. I'm trying to absorb as much as I can before we have to go!

Did you have to book for the restaurants or are they walk up ones?

Both are counter service. Plaza inn was very fast to get our food and pay. Flows was quick to order but it took awhile to get food at the counter but I was waiting in a fun atmosphere.

Thanks for the review! Mind sharing where you stayed? I think you had a great DCA strategy and it's on we plan to use for our trip next month. Glad to hear about being able to get a lot done at DL too!

We stayed at Dessert Inn and Suites. I wanted to stay at a hotel across the street because of the easy walk with little ones. This was our second time staying there but I think I am going to look into BWPPI next time. Our stay wasn't bad but I just feel like I want to up grade a bit. Our room was clear in the back. It was nice because it felt more private but the internet did not work at all and we didn't get good ph service. We did not have that problem the first time we stayed but we were in the middle of the motel. We have never used the pool, we just go to the beach :thumbsup2 I will say the roof top viewing deck was awesome for fire works if you want to avoid the crowds.

Sounds like you will have a lot of fun!! DL will be a breeze...the crowds are definitely in DCA.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Planning to go soon, too, and very glad to hear how doable everything was, even without any EEs!

Crap! That's we are staying for the last half of our stay. We are staying at HOJO for first 5 nights, then to San Diego, then to Carlsbad and then back to Anaheim for our last 4 nights at Desert Inn......

Getting nervous - I've been twice before (but very long time ago - last time was in 1988! Husband just once in 88.......trying to plan lots but there is so much info!!! Thanks for your trip report! It was awesome!

Don't worry lkperich it will be fine :goodvibes I just think I want to venture out and try something else. I have never stayed at Hojo's but want when my kids are a little older. I have heard that the beds are comfy and the water park is amazing at Hojo's but the trade off with Desert inn would be the location. It was sooo nice to have such a short walk to take breaks during the day and at the end of the night. Our room was just fine other than internet (we didn't need it anyway) and ph service but we were clear in the back on the bottom floor. If you need wifi just request a room in the middle or towards the front. Also some people have said the beds are hard but we had no problems. Just keep in mind the rooms are clean but very basic. If you are planning on bringing food the mini fridge is a good size, and if there are not parking spots they will valet your car you.

I know what you are going through. My family called me the crazy Disneyland lady the last 3 month because of all the planning and re-planning I did. But they sure were thanking me when we passed by all the rides we walked earlier only to see long lines of people waiting!

Hey! Glad you had fun on your trip! :D Five days is what I'm doing too! I'm curious, do you happen to know roughly how long the standby line was at this time too?

I'm not sure since we never headed strait to RSR either day. I'm sure the wait time would have been shorter the first day since I had my FP in hand by 8:05 and crowds were lower due to APEE EE. The second day I met my family for breakfast at flows after getting our FP. My observation of CL during that morning was once it opened and the crowds came it stayed busy all day. I remember walking by MJJ and the line seemed pretty short which surprised me because it was a little later in the morning. We did not get to RSR later in the afternoon/evening both days but the wait time seemed to stay at around 2 hrs all day once it was busy.

I'm not going to lie, it was just kinda fun to sit out side and and take in the atmosphere of CL while eating breakfast at Flows knowing we had our FP for RSR later. My kids were able to watch Lighting McQueen and Mater drive right by us when they were switching places for photos ops in front of the CC...they thought it was pretty cool.

I'm a bit confused by this. Are you saying that you went to DCA on APEE mornings? Like Saturday and Sunday? And because of this, the line for RSR FP was small? And on these mornings, DL was busy?

Is the FP machine for RSR still by “Its Tough to be a Bug?”

Thanks for the report!

Yes, the crowd when regular guests get into the park is smaller at the APEE park than the EMH/MM park.

Yes RSR FP is still distributed at the old bug's life kiosks.

Thanks skiingfast!!

JeriLee yes the FP machines are at bug's life like skiingfast mentioned. If you are one of the first people to get in the gates before rope drop they have a sign for RSR FP that starts next to CCT. Right after the count down the CM leads the line to FP area.
