We are FL residents, and have stayed at OKW in a 1 bd on cash twice. LOVE OKW and bought points there this year. By the time we got access to the points, OKW was booked for the week we like to travel, so we booked SSR for a 1BD. We liked SSR, but this stay confirmed that we made the right choice to "buy where we love to stay" - for us, this is OKW!
Some thoughts:
+ We stayed in the Paddocks, and really liked the location. Very quick walk to the main section of the resort, and easy to get in/out of (with our car).
+ The pool at the Paddocks is awesome!!! DD7 loved the slide and I loved that it wasn't too crowded (had it to ourselves at 9am on Sunday). They had great activities for the kids in the afternoon. DD made a Mickey Mouse tie-dye t-shirt ($15 for DVC members, $17 for non-members) and it's our favorite souvenier of the trip.
+ Loved our meal on Father's Day at the Turf Club. Great service and food. Only complaint from DH was that they didn't have a place to watch the golf from the table!
+ Loved the quiet, peacefulness of the resort. Took a few walks and really enjoyed the atmosphere.
- We are spoiled by the size of the 1 BD at OWK. Having two couches in the living room is great. We weren't cramped, but just felt it b/c of having stayed at OWK before.
- We found out how loud the w/d is when it is basically in the living room with you. We escaped to the balcony to spare us the sound of the dryer that had to be run 3x to dry our clothes.
So I would highly recommend SSR, but we are so happy to be "going home" next year to OKW!
