We just got back from our first BWV trip and are we excited!!!! We went on rented points, but since have purchased into DVC and are soooo glad that we did! We've always dreamed of staying on property (the Boardwalk was always our "dream"), but were too cheap to do it and now we get to every time we go!!!

Anyways, we rented points for this trip (that's how we found out about DVC) and everything went smoothly. We arrived around 11:00 AM on Sunday, Feb 8 and pulled right up to valet parking at the Boardwalk (you really don't understand how exciting this was for us--I almost shed a couple of tears!). Received a very nice "Welcome Home", they grabbed the bags, explained how everything would work (they knew we were 1st timers) and we headed to check in. Received another wonderful "Welcome Home", but the room wasn't ready yet, so we took our keys and walked over to MGM. The weather was perfect for the entire trip! MGM was actually pretty empty and we were able to get in to see almost everything we wanted. Headed back to the room around 4:00 PM and got our room. Room 1042, non-smoking, non-handicapped just like we asked. The added bonus was that it opened up to the Luna Pool and children's playground. Our 17 month old loved the playground and it was so nice to open the french doors and just walk out to it at our pleasure! Another wonderful surprise was that the Luna Pool was heated. We thought it was only the quiet pools that were heated, but Luna was heated warmer than the quiet pools. It was like swimming in a hot tub--heaven!

The room was immaculate and towel & trash came just as expected! We can't emphasize enough how much we liked the place--we even had ducks out on our patio one morning as we were going out to play (my dd loves nothing more than to feed ducks!). Everything else about the trip was normal Disney--perfect! As I said before, wonderful weather and really low crowds (like only 10-15 minute standby waits for Mission Space and Test Track). We tried out the meatloaf at Big River as suggested by others on this board and my dh is now a huge fan! I would love to go on and on, but your probably getting a little bored with me gushing at this point.

One other note, we attended the DVC meeting held there on Thursdays in the Community Hall. Just FYI, they're planning on changing the format of the meetings to make them more "interesting" and gave a lot of info on using II. Check out was incredibly easy (a luggage helper was at our door about 2 minutes after I called and had everything packed in the car by the time I checked out). Our only sad thought was that we only got to stay for 5 days!

When we got home, we got another nice surprise that our names were in the system (we closed on Feb 10th) and we were able to make ressies for the 1st time! I assumed we wouldn't get in because we're wanting to go in early Dec, but called Friday afternoon and got our 1st choice for Dec 5-10 (BWV, 2 br, preferred pool/playground view).

Well, I'll stop gushing now, but if anybody has any ???, please let me know! And I'll 2nd everybody on this board that says if you're wondering about buying or not---DO IT!!! Soooooo worth it!

Congratulations on your trip and your DVC purchase!

Question: did you buy direct from DVC or did you buy resale? If direct, what were the benefits of going direct, etc?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,
We purchased through a resale agency. To me, this seemed like the best way to go financially (assuming that you don't need the Disney financing plan). We used DVC by Resale and loved them. Going through a resale company allowed us to bargain with the price. We purchased 200 BWV points with a June use year. They had 147 left from 2003. We agreed on a price of $70/pt and only had to pay dues on the 2004 points. Shontell and Maggie at DVC by Resale were wonderful and actually pushed closing up almost 2 weeks because we really wanted to make an early Dec ressie and was afraid they'd all be gone.

The main plusses of going directly through Disney is they have financing available directly, your closing and paperwork gets done much faster. However you will pay more (currently $89/point) and they don't have all resorts available. If you have any other questions, let me know. I'd be glad to answer anything!

Welcome Home!

Glad to hear you had a great trip and got your early December reservation. You will love that time of year!

Congratulations and Welcome Home! I too just got back from BWV Feb 6 and I too had the most wonderful time there! I am so glad you posted your great experience because we need to hear about those on the boards. It sometimes feels as though only the disappointed have time to post..... so thanks for taking the time to share w/ us. And "too much gushing" is not a problem for us on the DIS. We all love DVC and love to hear about it again and again. So gush away!

And I am glad the Luna Pool got their heater working again. It was a bit chilly when we were there and we found out it was on the blink. It started catching up to the right temp by our last day and sounds like it was in full swing for you. We just considered the coolness of the water to be our "refreshing" swim!:wave2:

Just loved reading your post - thanks so much for taking the time to make such a detailed report. BWV is my home resort and I have no desire to stay anywhere else (well except I do like spending a few days at VB, LOL).

Your report triggered some great memories of our early December trip in 2001 with my DB & SIL and their two boys. At the time the boys were 6 and 16 months. We had a ground floor standard view 2 bedroom across from the pond - the ducks (and some other birds I wasn't familiar with) visited the area just outside our patio doors every morning. The little guy was an early riser and he and I waited for them to come every morning. He was so excited to see them! Wish I had a video of him trying to tell his Mom & Dad all about it afterwards - they like to sleep in. You couldn't understand a word, but you could sure see how excited and happy he was!

Anyway, thanks again - we aren't going home until 11/28/04 and your post helps with both the homesickness and the anticipation! DebbieB is soooo right! You are going to love visiting in early December. IMHO, there's no better time to go!

Best wishes -

Thanks for taking the time to share your DVC experiences with the rest of us. Sounds like a great vacation for your family!

And CONGRATULATIONS, and WELCOME HOME!!! :)

Congratulations on DVC and your BWV stay!!

You arrived on the day we left WDW! We were at BWV until Feb. 6th and then stayed at OKW for two days. We also had a wonderful time at both resorts. I was surprised to hear you say Luna Park pool was warmer than the community hall quiet pool because during our week it was exactly the opposite. Glad to hear you had such a great stay! :)

Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip! It made me more excited for our upcoming trip.

And congratulations on your purchase. The December trip is something wonderful to look forward to.

Your trip report was really great and makes me feel really excited about our upcoming October Trip...either BCV or BWV.
