We just got back from our first BWV trip and are we excited!!!! We went on rented points, but since have purchased into DVC and are soooo glad that we did! We've always dreamed of staying on property (the Boardwalk was always our "dream"), but were too cheap to do it and now we get to every time we go!!!
Anyways, we rented points for this trip (that's how we found out about DVC) and everything went smoothly. We arrived around 11:00 AM on Sunday, Feb 8 and pulled right up to valet parking at the Boardwalk (you really don't understand how exciting this was for us--I almost shed a couple of tears!). Received a very nice "Welcome Home", they grabbed the bags, explained how everything would work (they knew we were 1st timers) and we headed to check in. Received another wonderful "Welcome Home", but the room wasn't ready yet, so we took our keys and walked over to MGM. The weather was perfect for the entire trip! MGM was actually pretty empty and we were able to get in to see almost everything we wanted. Headed back to the room around 4:00 PM and got our room. Room 1042, non-smoking, non-handicapped just like we asked. The added bonus was that it opened up to the Luna Pool and children's playground. Our 17 month old loved the playground and it was so nice to open the french doors and just walk out to it at our pleasure! Another wonderful surprise was that the Luna Pool was heated. We thought it was only the quiet pools that were heated, but Luna was heated warmer than the quiet pools. It was like swimming in a hot tub--heaven!
The room was immaculate and towel & trash came just as expected! We can't emphasize enough how much we liked the place--we even had ducks out on our patio one morning as we were going out to play (my dd loves nothing more than to feed ducks!). Everything else about the trip was normal Disney--perfect! As I said before, wonderful weather and really low crowds (like only 10-15 minute standby waits for Mission Space and Test Track). We tried out the meatloaf at Big River as suggested by others on this board and my dh is now a huge fan! I would love to go on and on, but your probably getting a little bored with me gushing at this point.
One other note, we attended the DVC meeting held there on Thursdays in the Community Hall. Just FYI, they're planning on changing the format of the meetings to make them more "interesting" and gave a lot of info on using II. Check out was incredibly easy (a luggage helper was at our door about 2 minutes after I called and had everything packed in the car by the time I checked out). Our only sad thought was that we only got to stay for 5 days!
When we got home, we got another nice surprise that our names were in the system (we closed on Feb 10th) and we were able to make ressies for the 1st time! I assumed we wouldn't get in because we're wanting to go in early Dec, but called Friday afternoon and got our 1st choice for Dec 5-10 (BWV, 2 br, preferred pool/playground view).
Well, I'll stop gushing now, but if anybody has any ???, please let me know! And I'll 2nd everybody on this board that says if you're wondering about buying or not---DO IT!!! Soooooo worth it!
