Ok, so alot of you have followed my "saga" over the last year regarding where to stay for our July 2012 trip. It has gone through many incarnations....we were booked at the Poly, the BC, the WL...contemplated a split stay....and bounced between our options several times before finally deciding (about 47 days before our trip) on WL CL for the whole 10 nights. I honestly could not be happier about our choice!!!! If there is one thing I regret, it is making the jump from values & mods to a deluxe for the first time...and the regret is for my wallet...my family agrees that they don't want to stay anywhere else but the WL...:rotfl2:

A few general observations...

~ Weather ~We were worried about going in July, due to the heat (we usually travel in cooler months)...well, maybe it was a fluke, but for the 11 days we were there, the weather was AMAZING...and even cool at times...it only rained hard on one day (all day), but we had ponchos, went out and made the best of it!!!

~ Crowds ~ NOT BAD AT ALL...of course this is purely subjective because everyone has their tolerances...but we traveled with our 5 and 8 year old DD's, who are pretty patient (as kids go), and they often said..."oooh, that's not a bad wait!!!" I think the longest we waited was about 60 minutes for Splash Mountain and that was only because we were on our last day and the girls really wanted to ride again... :rolleyes1
And yes...there were many Brzilian tour groups, but honestly, if you go in the other direction (or walk fast to get in front of them), it was not bad.
On two separate occasions, we were actually approaching the Fast Pass lines to utilize ours and a group of 70-100 Brazilians would jump in front of us...:headache: Well, in both of those situations, a CM noticed and took us out from behind them and placed us in front of the group....at which time they started chanting...(I'm pretty sure something rude, but we couldn't understand...:rotfl:) But, it didn't matter, we were in front of them and didn't have to wait it out!

~ Pixie Dust ~ There was plenty of it!!! From the CM's who rescued us from the tour groups...to restaurant CM's letting us order stuff outside of the DDP and not charging us for it...Mousekeeping left awesome towel animals everyday....here's a sampling....

~ Food ~ There is alot of talk on the Disboards about the food at Disney being on the decline...again, this is all totally subjective, but we had some amazing meals at Ohana (dinner), Le Cellier (dinner) and Whispering Canyon Cafe (the skillet was awesome!!!). Artist Point was awesome too...here is the filet DH and I got...

Anyways....the WL was amazing...we had a refurbed room (#7042) on the club level (yes, we paid for it) and had this amazing view...

We had a great view of Wishes from our room (and you don't pay for a Theme Park View at WL) :rolleyes1

Here's a few pics of our room

Overall, the WL was relaxing (we could barely hear the construction, and that was on only a few occassions), the CM's were wonderful...the CL was plentiful and delicious. It really ruined us I think, as I said before, my family doesn't want to stay anywhere else.

On another note, the boat option to MK was nice, but not our favorite, it really took much longer than just hopping on the bus. (We are a family that doesn't mind Disney busses)...transportation was great for our whole trip, and honestly...with the boat to CR, we had such easy access to the monorail, it was awesome!!!! :yay:

I know there are alot of WL lovers out there...but just as many WL detractors...again, this trip reminded me to trust my instincts and go with what we want to do (resort, food, etc...) instead of going on reviews because we had an amazing trip that another Dis'er might have experienced and thought it was awful...different strokes for different folks, I totally get it...but the WL is definitely "home" for our family now...it's that wonderful. :goodvibes

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away!!!! I've got lots more pics too.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Candace, a TR....now I have to read it...just wanted to throw in a happy dance:dance3:

Oh Candace!!! Love the room, love the pics...LOVE THAT VIEW!!!!!!!!

More pics please popcorn::

What a great view!!! We've had 3 stays at WL and it never disappoints :good vibes Love it.
I love those toothbrush holders, so cute!!

Sorry about the Tour Group. How can 60+ people think it's ok to cut in front  this is the reason why they get a bad reputation, continually pulling these stunts. Good for the CM to do something.
When we go in a few weeks I hope the majority of them are gone!

I love the boat to MK :good vibes such a pretty, relaxing ride. I'm on vacay mode, and never mind that it's slower then the bus. One of the things I'll miss staying at AKL this trip, but got my WL fix in January!!

Thank you for sharing this. We will be back to the WL in November. This is one place that when we walk into it .......the rest of the world goes away. It really is the begining of our vacation. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for posting this. We are booked for the WL this November. It will be our first time there. I have changed this reservaton twice already, and have been flip flopping between WL and Port Orleans Riverside (moderate). I finally decided on the WL and after reading your post, I'm more excited than ever! I'm hoping all of the rooms will be refurbished by our stay in November. Can't wait!!!

All of the rooms are set to be done by the end of September, so you should be golden!!! :rotfl2:

I hope you love it as much as we do! Have you stayed at POR before?? That's where we've decided we will book our April trip...but if a discount comes out....we're going back to the lodge!!!

Lovely little trip report Candace! I have been eagerly awaiting the details! Did your DD's do the kids club while you had your dinner at Artist Pointe? :goodvibes

They did!!! And they had a blast!! It must have been a slow night when they went because they had the whole place to themselves! The CMs there gave them the run of the place and they loved it. :goodvibes

Candace, welcome home and thank your for posting the pictures! So glad you had such a wonderful trip and that you loved the WL. It's wonderful when you find that resort that is a perfect fit for the family :goodvibes

So glad uou enjoyed your trip. We are definitely Wilderness Lodge Lovers....cannot wait to get there again. 32days!!:cheer2:

That is good to hear! I like your 2013 plans....:scratchin why can I see you back at WL????;)

Great TR! So glad you had such a good time.

Your view was fantastic!

The filet from AP looks really yummy! We're going in a couple of weeks and cannot wait.

Thanks so much for the report! We have stayed at WL before but will have our first CL stay in 19 days :cool1: Do you have an official Trip Report that you can add a link to? Was Artist Point kid friendly? We have reservations for our December trip but my youngest will only be 22 months at the time so to young for the kids club. I would love to keep the reservation but if they frown on bringing little guys I will likely cancel it and look for another.

I didn't do an official trip report....maybe once I'm settled in more....
We didn't bring our kids to AP, but we saw lots of families who brought their little ones...I think you'll be just fine! :thumbsup2

Oh perfect! Now I won't have to worry on whether or not I'll be getting a refurbished room or not. Yay! We have not stayed at POR before. What happened was...my husband is a pilot and we get a great discount on rooms. We booked a bunk room at the WL with his discount. Then the free dining offer came out, and it was more beneficial for us to be able to get free dining, so we had to forego our discount. I felt like we couldn't spend full price at WL, so I switched to POR. It looks super nice as well. However, I had my heart set on the WL and just couldn't get it out of my head. I really wanted to be closer to MK. So, I switched back to WL, but downgraded to just a standard view room. That way it was not as much as my original bunk room, but I still got free dining. I could still save a lot more money by staying at POR, but like I said, my heart was set on the WL. By downgrading to a standard WL room AND getting free dining, I'm still saving $500 from my original discounted bunk room and paying for meals out of pocket. Another factor of me really wanting to stay at the WL is that we will be there right when they are decorating for Christmas and I can't wait to see the WL all decorated.

Your post decribing your wonderful stay, just reaffirmed that the WL is where I should keep my reservation for November.

However, POR looks so nice too!
